Amen I say to southwest3210...I thought I was the only one into Bangor Flying Circus and Madura...I wish they would post the PBS session with Madura's (post-Bangor Flying Circus) with Alan Di Carlo...this album here In the Woods is way ahead of its time...listen to the riffs...Thanks for posting this.
I am in total awe here..you are listening to what should have been one of the great bands of the late 60's/early 70's....prob the greatest lost band in history..I actually WEEP that this local American/Chicago band was nor only the equal of the progessive rock bands of the era, ala ELP and Yes, but predated them by several years to boot....this is equivalent to Shakespeare being lost to the world of letters..one can only wonder what they could.would have done with fame and encouragement....
I knew these guys. They borrowed my 12-string guitar for this album (Concerto Four Clouds). Mike Tegza always carried a case of Pink Chablis in his car's trunk (and played a hell of a 6/8 beat on his double bass). Hawk's C3 organ had galvanized pipes for feet (easier to haul around). Addison Al had an SG (like I have) and ran 2 Fender Super Reverbs - stacked.
This was the best Chicago band of that era. Mike Tegza was the Tony Williams of rock, Addison Al was the complete package, and Hawk was a great playing and writing talent. I missed playing with Hawk in The Shadows of Knight by a year; he left before I started my 3-year stint with them on drums. This entire album is a gem, and I wish it would be reissued on CD.
@roccovaselino It was a long time ago. I remember buying it at a discount rack; maybe Walgreens? I never knew about them before, but it's one of my favorite albums...

Another great band that I grew up with. I learned to play drums to this album. Still phenomenal music today.

Saw these guys live several times back in the late 60's when they played in Dallas. They were just incredible.

What happened to Mike Tegza? Is he still in the music business? Is he still alive?
