I'm reading the first book now. I'm at the chapter the knife in the dark. i love it so far. and i still havent watched the movies closely lol but im waiting til i finish the books first. im a real book nerd.
Thumbs up if your first attempt to read the Lord Of The Rings didn't work out bc you were too young to understand and thought it boring and are now reading and thinking it the most amazing books EVER!!!
hey i'm looking for people to fill out a questionnaire for my college work on this book and film any people interested i can email it you no spam promise. just need to do some research then right about it. would really help thankyou. message me if interested:D
My dad took me to see the lord of the rings in the cinema when I was 6,7 and 8... Now you know a film is amazing when a 6 year old girly girl LOVES IT even though its fantasy and 'for boys' or whatever, LOOKING FORWARD TO THE HOBBIT
@MrChubbylover5 Both the books and the films are incredible masterpieces! if you read the books first your dream of seeing middleearth will be fulfilled by watching the movie after. The book provides more detail and information which is altered in the movies as it would take too long to film, nevertheless Peter Jackson made an extremely awesome job in portraying the genius of Tolkien and making his vision come to life. Either way is and incredible experience
Just imagine the reaction when this trailer was first showed to the public. Theater, web release, con, doesn't matter. The reaction must have been amazing.
I remember when I was around 10 years old and saw a clip of the cave troll and Sam on GMTV as they were talking about how amazing the graphics were and that thousands of fans were going crazy waiting for its release. Now 10 years on I'm waiting for the Hobbit trailer and expect the same chill I got all those years ago
I love the Lord of the Rings movies sooooo much! But I have to wonder how many of the fans read The Hobbit or watched the old animated The Hobbit movie from 1977 (VHS's of it were produced in 1996)? That movie was the only reason I knew how Bilbo got the ring in the first place.
Everybody's always saying that The Return of the King is the best movie of the trilogy, but I always liked The Fellowship best. It's fantastic! The beggining of everything, that amazing prologue...I'm reading the book now and I'm loving as well. Simply perfect, well done Peter Jackson and J.J. R. Tolkien ^^
The meaning of this trilogy is so deep, that we can relate it to some of the terrible things that happened and happen (unfortunately) in our world.I realy love this movies. My favourites by far
@Gollyjolly45 How can u say HP is better than LOTR!! There wouldn't even be a Harry Potter if it wasn't for Tolkien! And unlike HP, LOTR doesn't run out of steam towards the end, and lets not even get into the fact that Tolkien's lore of middle earth FAR EXCEEDS Rowlings world in both depth and scope! When Rowling creates more than 12 languages and over a 100,000 year history of multiple races and a constantly changing geographical landscape, then MAYBE you have a point!!
It looks utterly brilliant, I just have one thing to say. WHY would you touch the dead guy in the first place? Especially one sitting as precariously as him?
OMG i actually felt chills down my spine to watch this again. This is just the best, nothing compares, not even star wars makes me feel like this. It is so EPIC! and full of heart and passion. This is the ageless epic movie by excelence
I love the Middle Earth- stories so much I don't know what to do... The movies are so great I could cry. No producer would have done this better than you! And the soundtrack - I listen to it every day because it's so beautiful... Thank you for making my life, Peter Jackson ♥
@kylefontaine1986 i agree but not for jaws. the result of the film was the massive slaughter of sharks worldwide, beaches going out of business which led to them suing Spielberg. both he and the author of the novel repented it. Benchley then wrote a novel to give everyone a basic message "MY BOOK IS FICTION! SHARKS DONT HUNT MAN!" And Star wars, u 4got episodes 4, 5 and 6, the classics.
@croc560 I think he did mean Star Wars 4, 5, and 6. He just called them 1, 2, and 3, because they came out before the first 3 episodes did. Yes they are great classics. Better than the latest Star Wars movies. But I still like the latest ones too. :D
@MrsEmmaPeel07 i liked episode 3 of star wars and 2 but episode 1 only had good combat scenes and effects. it had some of the worst writing i have ever seen. i like reading the novelizations of the movies cuz they're even better and contain parts deleted from the film and far more graphical imagery that was cut out due to it being to gruesome like a scene in which a clone trooper blows the head of a padawan at the temple.
in 2:21 what happens and legolas throws that arrow?I guess the fellowship is at the forest of galadriel...but what happens?did orcs hunt them after Moria?if yes..why everyone else is just walking? :/:/:/
August 2001, first time I ever heard of The Lord Of The Rings... I was 15 at the time, and I started reading the book, even before I saw the film, I was, and still am, completely addicted to the films and the books... :)
@Gollyjolly45 of course it does i mean come on!!! the world of LORT is big the characters are very very memorable. it is still my favorite movie even after a decade
@woowhyeay31 You can anyone compare LotR to the Godfather? That's like comparing apples and cheese! They're two completely different genres, entirely different films. Both have amazing actors (Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Bernard Hill; Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro), and both are cinematic masterpieces - that's the only similarity you can draw.
Godfather may be better than LotR in your opinion, and your opinion's as valid as anyone else's. But really, there's no solid ground for comparison.
@Gollyjolly45 I'm not gonna lie: LOTR is, without a doubt, the most captivating and powerful story ever written by such a writer. Same goes to Peter Jakcson's adaptation to Tolkien's epic trilogy was visually and stunningly epic beyond measure. As for Star Wars though I have to defend the original trilogy (IV, V, & VI). You gotta give that credit. I will say the prequels suck big time. Thanks to Lucas, the Star Wars saga doesn't make sense. In fact, it should have never been made.
