  • what is the music? it wasn't in the films.

  • I'm reading the first book now. I'm at the chapter the knife in the dark. i love it so far. and i still havent watched the movies closely lol but im waiting til i finish the books first. im a real book nerd.

  • You Shall Not Pass!!!!

  • CHILLS ALL OVER MY BODY, MY MIND GOING HIGH, TEARS IN MY EYES... thats how i fell while watching this trailer!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if your first attempt to read the Lord Of The Rings didn't work out bc you were too young to understand and thought it boring and are now reading and thinking it the most amazing books EVER!!!

  • HAY. SAM SAYING 'Back you devil!' IS FROM THE SCENE WITH SHELOB IN THE THIRD MOVIE!

  • @AdagioCandy no its from when the wraiths attack them at Amon-Sun from the first movie..

  • @AdagioCandy Wait a second... Shelob is in "The Two Towers," not "The Return of the King"

  • Thumbs up if Mark Reads brought you here =)

Such a great masterpiece... and the movies are great, too

  • One of the greatest, if not THE greatest, film of all time!!!

  • My dad took me to see the lord of the rings in the cinema when I was 6,7 and 8... Now you know a film is amazing when a 6 year old girly girl LOVES IT even though its fantasy and 'for boys' or whatever, LOOKING FORWARD TO THE HOBBIT

  • Hey i read The Hobbit. I was thinking of reading The lord of the rings but i want to watch it much more. Should i Watch it or read it first?

  • @MrChubbylover5 Both the books and the films are incredible masterpieces! if you read the books first your dream of seeing middleearth will be fulfilled by watching the movie after. The book provides more detail and information which is altered in the movies as it would take too long to film, nevertheless Peter Jackson made an extremely awesome job in portraying the genius of Tolkien and making his vision come to life. Either way is and incredible experience

  • 3 people wanted to pass.

  • I love Aragorn <3 <3 kisses for Viggo <3 <3

  • 3 orcs disliked this trailer.

  • ten years on, watched this trilogy countless times, still an incredible trailer

  • Nobody could of done this better then Sir Peter Jackson, go New Zealand!

  • LOTR trilogy obliterates any epic fantasy adventure film! well except 300 and troy. those were cool.

  • I've seen this trailer about a thousand times and it still gives me chills. Epic doesn't even begin to describe it.

  • @Dorby5826and360 it's out right now... I've seen it more than 30 times already

  • Smeagol and Gollum disliked this video!

  • @ShazamWow1 so does Saron

  • @kassandra475 lord of the rings is much better but Harry potter is still good

  • hoy hace 10 años la vi por primera vez y no pude evitar sentirme nostalgico =')

  • I wish they showed Gil- Galad in fellowship

  • What better way to celebrate it's 10th anniversary than with the new trailer for The Hobbit?

  • it's been ten years and I know all of the movies by heart, but I still get goosebumps watching this, like it's the first time :)

  • Hey,Happy 10 year anniversary when released in theatres world wide(Dec.2001).Already?felt like this movie was in theatres just 5-6 years ago.

  • Just imagine the reaction when this trailer was first showed to the public. Theater, web release, con, doesn't matter. The reaction must have been amazing.

  • @CameraShyLimited It was. :-)

I freaked out in the theatre when the trailer came on. :-p

  • Every time i see the movies i wanna start playing Lineage again :/ EPIC MOVIES,got my full respect!

  • One of the BEST EPIC since Wizards of OZ

  • Happy 10th Anniversary FOTR!

  • I hope there is going to be a trailer for The Hobbit soon. I have read the book years ago and am looking forward to the movie.

  • Once when I was talking about this movie I accidentally called Frodo Spyro.

I guess that's what happens when your addicted to two things with the same actor in them. :)

  • UUUUUUUUUUU CAAAAN'T PAAAAAAAAAAASSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • EPIC EPIC EPIC!

  • SO. EPIC. I've seen this film at least 30 times and this trailer gets me so pumped to watch it again. This is how you make a trailer.

  • 2:28 to the end, BEST PART! "YOU... SHALL NOT... PASS!"

  • 1 guy sould go jump of a cliff

  • Without Doubt the greatest, most epically amazing film trilogy of all time!!!! Can't wait for the Hobbit next year!!!!

  • I remember when I was around 10 years old and saw a clip of the cave troll and Sam on GMTV as they were talking about how amazing the graphics were and that thousands of fans were going crazy waiting for its release. Now 10 years on I'm waiting for the Hobbit trailer and expect the same chill I got all those years ago

  • Gandalf owns all!!!

    Take THAT Denethor!

  • sorry but harry potters the beast XD

  • @kassandra475 the lord of the rings is infinitely more amazing than harry potter. and i love harry potter

  • @DustinHoltz Well said.

  • @kassandra475 LOTR is totally better

  • I love the Lord of the Rings movies sooooo much! But I have to wonder how many of the fans read The Hobbit or watched the old animated The Hobbit movie from 1977 (VHS's of it were produced in 1996)? That movie was the only reason I knew how Bilbo got the ring in the first place.

  • Everybody's always saying that The Return of the King is the best movie of the trilogy, but I always liked The Fellowship best. It's fantastic! The beggining of everything, that amazing prologue...I'm reading the book now and I'm loving as well. Simply perfect, well done Peter Jackson and J.J. R. Tolkien ^^

  • SUKA

  • I prefer the movies to the books

  • The meaning of this trilogy is so deep, that we can relate it to some of the terrible things that happened and happen (unfortunately) in our world.I realy love this movies. My favourites by far

  • GOOSEBUMPS!

  • It looks utterly brilliant, I just have one thing to say. WHY would you touch the dead guy in the first place? Especially one sitting as precariously as him?

  • omg i got chills again!!!

  • OMG i actually felt chills down my spine to watch this again. This is just the best, nothing compares, not even star wars makes me feel like this. It is so EPIC! and full of heart and passion. This is the ageless epic movie by excelence

  • John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was a genius. I just wish that he could see this amazing screen version by Peter Jackson.

    May he rest in peace.

  • @aiciz9 a heartfelt comment, though he would hate this version

  • Ive watched this a million times.. am not tired of it!<3

  • I can watchthis trailer a million of times without getting bored !

  • aerosmith's daughter at 2:16

  • YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!! very impressive

  • I love it !

  • I love the Middle Earth- stories so much I don't know what to do... The movies are so great I could cry. No producer would have done this better than you! And the soundtrack - I listen to it every day because it's so beautiful... Thank you for making my life, Peter Jackson ♥

  • I love this trilogy so much I don't know what to do....

  • wow is it me or does the trailer for lord of the rings better than the acuall movie???

  • @tbonesparton5 it is you.

  • At 1:56 from then on it's just FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • The first time i saw this movie i was about seven years old and imideatly it was my favorite movie of all time

  • Lord of the Rings (1,2,3) Star Wars (1,2,3) Jurassic Park & Jaws........Greatest EVER!!!!!!

  • @kylefontaine1986 i agree but not for jaws. the result of the film was the massive slaughter of sharks worldwide, beaches going out of business which led to them suing Spielberg. both he and the author of the novel repented it. Benchley then wrote a novel to give everyone a basic message "MY BOOK IS FICTION! SHARKS DONT HUNT MAN!" And Star wars, u 4got episodes 4, 5 and 6, the classics.

  • @croc560 I think he did mean Star Wars 4, 5, and 6. He just called them 1, 2, and 3, because they came out before the first 3 episodes did. Yes they are great classics. Better than the latest Star Wars movies. But I still like the latest ones too. :D

  • @MrsEmmaPeel07 i liked episode 3 of star wars and 2 but episode 1 only had good combat scenes and effects. it had some of the worst writing i have ever seen. i like reading the novelizations of the movies cuz they're even better and contain parts deleted from the film and far more graphical imagery that was cut out due to it being to gruesome like a scene in which a clone trooper blows the head of a padawan at the temple.

  • @kylefontaine1986 i hope you mean star wars IV, V, VI

  • The best cutscenes, "... and my AXE " and " You shall no pass!"

  • why did i only fall in love with this film in 2011? I had 10 years!!

  • OMG does that mean Tweety is one of sauron's spies?!

    NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

sylvester: well that's a shocker. *sarcastic*

  • in 2:21 what happens and legolas throws that arrow?I guess the fellowship is at the forest of galadriel...but what happens?did orcs hunt them after Moria?if yes..why everyone else is just walking? :/:/:/

too pitty they cut great scenes like this...

    (LEGOLAS BEST ARCHER EVER!!)

  • @leotr3ndy7 I know. Can't wait for the release of the ultra extended edition Peter Jackson's been hinting about.

  • 1:19 starts gothis power/army of doom by X-ray dog it pauses then continues

  • This is NOT the best movie trilogy, TOY STORY IS, this is second though :)

  • @Buckleofbelt hahaha! totallyy agreeing with you!!!! a million thumbs up!

  • today is my 20th birthday and I'm going home to watch all 3 movies with my dad. Going to be a great marathon!!!

  • at 1:43 every time u hear the banging pippin is thinking "shit shit shit shit shit SHIT!" lol u know hes thinking that

  • @lynch8man you´re just made my day :D you´re rock!! :D

  • August 2001, first time I ever heard of The Lord Of The Rings... I was 15 at the time, and I started reading the book, even before I saw the film, I was, and still am, completely addicted to the films and the books... :)

  • what is the name of the song from 2:00

  • There is only one word fit to describe this trilogy: EPIC!!!!!

  • @December2012Junkie and a masterpiece

  • 2:04 is in the extended edition. 1:54 = chills

  • This seems very American-ised. It doesn't give the same feel as the film it's self

  • My fav series ever.

  • Best Movie of 2001. Thank god for this movie. Im like Huge fan since and its 2010 HA

  • The Best Trilogy Ever

  • Is all of that last alliance footage in the film? 2:06 for example I don't remember seeing even in the extended edition.

  • Perfect movie trilogy, theres really no words to describe how good it is. :D Yeah, beats Star Wars and everything!

  • Whats the song at 1:20

  • yeah I wanna know this too!

  • The greatest cinema trilogy EVER created and yes it even beats Star Wars

  • @Gollyjolly45 of course it does i mean come on!!! the world of LORT is big the characters are very very memorable. it is still my favorite movie even after a decade

  • @Gollyjolly45

    It doesnt beat the Godfather.

  • @woowhyeay31 You can anyone compare LotR to the Godfather? That's like comparing apples and cheese! They're two completely different genres, entirely different films. Both have amazing actors (Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Bernard Hill; Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro), and both are cinematic masterpieces - that's the only similarity you can draw.

Godfather may be better than LotR in your opinion, and your opinion's as valid as anyone else's. But really, there's no solid ground for comparison.

  • @Gollyjolly45 to me its tied with Star Wars. Both are amazing stories of a great man's mind.

  • @Gollyjolly45 prob only three films imo that do.

  • @Gollyjolly45 IT CERTAINLY DOES!! BEST MOVIES EVER!! i think no trilogy will be as great as lord of the rings, EVER!

  • @Gollyjolly45 second best ever i would say harry potter is the best but 2nd

  • Comment removed

  • @Gollyjolly45 I'm not gonna lie: LOTR is, without a doubt, the most captivating and powerful story ever written by such a writer. Same goes to Peter Jakcson's adaptation to Tolkien's epic trilogy was visually and stunningly epic beyond measure. As for Star Wars though I have to defend the original trilogy (IV, V, & VI). You gotta give that credit. I will say the prequels suck big time. Thanks to Lucas, the Star Wars saga doesn't make sense. In fact, it should have never been made.

  • chills...

  • @mmawrestler04 *feels my arm* goosebumps *shivers*

  • BEST MOVIE EVER

  • What is the music at 1:05?

  • X-Ray Dog - Gothic Power

  • the ring must be destroyed!!!
