(spoilers) the curse isn't real, it's just an excuse takano made up so people wouldn't be suspicious when she killed people or when people died

its more about the hinamizawa syndrome and how rika is trying to find a world she would survive in so the military won't have to come in and kill everyone because rika's the queen carrier or something and if she dies the syndrome activates in every villager

Did you mean the arc with a pinkhair boy? if is that, it's the Onisarashi-hen, this arc appears only in the manga, I recommend you see it. That's not amazing a lot like the main arcs but it's deep like those...

Which is the fucking problem =( I can't read Japanese, or understand it. I'm thinking about learning it, but that will take at least a year if I study it VERY hard... Well, very hard for me, anyways. But Higurashi is at least, four times better than Naruto. I liked reading the Bleach manga, but so far, I can't think of anything that really compares with Higurashi, even Elfen Lied which is compared to it often, is not even on the same level. It's closer than Naruto, but it's just not the same.
