  • How many times can one fucking quote by endlessly raped, misread, abused and murdered by super-cheesy hollywood garbage? Don't get me wrong, I thought the Rock was a good movie; it's the dialogue I'm referring to as garbage in this case. I think Connery bring in his own writers for his own lines was a wise, wise move.

  • lol americans are so butthurt when a movie character tells them that patriotism isn't exactly a good thing...

americans are just like the serbians :D

  • oscar was a pussy

  • @dragnsly, @garrybellamy, @jum1801,@caribdevist, @georgehalo123, @wunderbeast, @erentheca, @thesaltyadmiral,

But wasn't Oscar Wilde a degenerate who made a living by simply inverting truisms of traditional virtue?

And Connery himself is a Nationalist.

  • @ProNorden Well, this is a movie. Connery is speaking in character.

  • NOBODY QUOTES OSCAR WILDE AROUND ME!

    *thwack*

  • You find a comment from 2 mos ago that upsets your world view enough that you respond, & all you can say is "dumb beast"?! Heh. There really must be something to that old saw about how insults really say so much more about the maker than the target.

Look, if you think it's all grown up & adult to start throwing ad homs at people who happen to hold opinions different from you (it isn't, but that's a typical left-wing attitude), have the decency to do a good job, & not futz around.

  • No love for Oscar Wilde I take it.

  • A confrontation that doesn't disappoint. Mason, who could easily be identified as a victim of the kind of mistreatment that Hummel is fighting to stop in his own country, nevertheless coldly identifies the futility of what Hummel is trying to do. Could it be that years of unjust incarceration have given Mason a unique perspective, or is this a somewhat forced contrast between the extremes of American attitudes and the extremes of British attitudes on the subject of combating injustice.

  • i always remember him goin through the fire furnace is this film thinkin damn thats cool

  • Thank you sir for making my point.

  • Sean Connery reminds me of Captain Price in the MW series, is it just me?

  • @alexgorman13 no he reminds me of the too

  • @alexgorman13 Captain John Price, Captain John Mason, both SAS, only Sean Connery would shove a bat up price's arse and turn him into a popsicle.

  • he did received a painful blow

  • Classic miss quote of Jefferson. Wilde and Jefferson would have not disagreed regarding patriotism.

  • Would have been funny if Hummel said "Oscar Wilde was a flaming fag!"

  • Patriotism does not exist in sweden. In Sweden, patriotism=racism.

  • @Phantasma71 The same here in England mate!!

  • @MightyMick77 I feel you, in some schools they're not allowed to wear the swedish colours on their clothes.....

  • @Phantasma71 Yeah all this Political Correctness is Bullshit!! And yet there is talk of a Mosque getting built on Ground Zero?? The world has gone MAD!! Wear yo

  • @MightyMick77 If I ever see a Mosque getting built in my town I'm out of this place.

  • @MightyMick77

I understand you are confused. Let me clear up a few things for you. 1 Its not a mosque. 2 its not on ground zero. Feel better now?:)

    See this: /watch?v=QZpT2Muxoo0

Sure Olberman is a little eccentric but his point is true^^

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSaltyAdmiral Except Sean Connery is merely reading a line not written by him. His personal attitude is exactly the opposite: he resents like hell the smug, self-righteous attitude of the elites, as exemplified by Olberman, who have nothing but contempt for those who answer the call of duty and actually pay the price to give them the freedom to indulge in such mockery

  • @jum1801 You are a dumb beast.

  • @Phantasma71 cry me a river...

  • "patriotism varies, from a noble devotion to a moral lunacy"

    i love that quote

  • Should have included the quote from General Hummel right before it, it really makes the scene a hell of a lot more epic.

John Mason is a fucking 1337 spy. Other than getting caught andnd arrested for 30 years. >_>

    Other than that, 1337.

  • A scottish SAS vet them american marines have not got a chance

  • I love how after he hits him. Sean connery just goes "Thanks for proving my point"

  • I disagree but still a great movie and great actor.

  • Your lucky the boss wants you alive cause ide take pleasure in gutting you boy.

  • Well shaid, Shir Sean!

*Paetriotishm ish the vuertue of the vishish, accarding tue Oshkar Woilde"

  • "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

    -Thomas Jefferson

  • I wish they had one of my favorite quote :

    Mason to the General:

    "Personally I think you're a fucking idiot"

  • "This is not patriotism, it's an act of lunacy, General sir........ Personally I think you're a fuckin' idiot."

  • @no2nate Thank you for making my point!

  • why even make this short scene..u midis well have shown the whole scene when they fight the first few marines an than get captured

  • them yank marines were no match for a seasoned sas vet!

  • Hahaha nice one ,but a true one.

  • true..

  • lol i love this scene

  • Ha! Ed Harris sure proves Sean and Oscar's point!

  • Hey thanks for posting this. I was wondering if anyone else had a clue as to what patriotism really is.

The pledge of allegience is a loyalty oath. It used to be said with an outstretched hand like for Heil Hitler. Jefferson said "The tree of liberty is nourished by the blood of revolutionaries. No citizen of a democratic country should ever pledge unswerving loyalty to any government or flag."
