Can someone tell me what is the title of this instrumental music at the end of the episode please ? Even at the start of this video... I love it but I can't find it ! :s Thank you !
In French, this show is named "Urgences", who means "Emergency" in english...
ER was the best show I've known because you can find inside, a lot of very good characters and emotions you can't find elsewhere. When I watched this show for the first time, I guess it was when I was 8 or 9, may be less... and now I'm 20. I miss it so much ! Best show ever ! Greene let us so much things we'll never forget. Thank you to the creator of this show !
Anthony Edwards played Dr. Greene with such grace he made me a fan for life. Dr. Greene was one of those Characters who was such an inspiration!!! I still get weepy when I see these episodes.
The old man walking out the ER saluting Dr. Green was in the pilot...accused Dr. Green of being a racist and there was an old lady from the pilot who Dr, removed a hang nail for who was alos in this episode.
If you caught all the tears that I've cried whilst watching ER...you could fill a bath!...I got the DVD set for Christmas..all 15 years worth (yay!)..so I can torture myself whenever I like now....totally amazing TV show...adore it!!
The writers and actors of ER who carried out the scripts did such an EXCELLENT job-so many heart wrenching episodes, so many wonderful characters, so many awesome plot-lines. They certainly knew how to tear your heart out when an actor left the show or got hurt or suffered from some human flaw. I was a faithful ER watcher from when it started until around when Mark Greene died, and on and off for years. They did a great job with the series finale episode too. If only all TV shows were this good!
I think the same. "Orion" is the saddest episode ever. The awareness, that he can't go on with the job he did for years, the last scenes in the e.r. and the fact that he is giving the ball to carter are more powerful than the virtual death.
I watched the ER finale out of habit last night. It was good, it did make me a bit misty... BUT I always thought THIS was the episode that would've made a great finale. I would've missed a couple of latter-season characters and plots but man, these two and a half minutes really hit hard. Who'll set the tone now that ER is gone?
greene carried on that quote "you set the tone" morganstern told him that in the first episode, greene told it to carter and carter told it to morris on his last day in the same alley way outside of ER. that whole episode is full of allusions to earlier times in the series, the basketball first belonged to ross i believe because he played all the time and was passed on to greene
He didn't actually only have days to live there. If he'd had only days to live left, you would have seen much more of a cogntive and behavioural impairment. He did know, however, that he didn't have a lot of time left. Brain tumours are pretty unpredictable in how fast they progress, but they are, for the most part, untreatable (unless encapsulated). It is incredibly sad to watch someone lose all their functioning in a matter of weeks, or sometimes months.
Yeah, in most cases when tumors develop greatly on or in major organs, usually the organ is removed and replaced with a transplant. Unfortunately the brain is about the ONLY thing in the body that CAN'T be replaced. In some cases, removing a brain tumor does get rid of it for good, but there's never any guarantees.
Even in cases where it is removed completely, chances are the tumour returns a few months to years later. But you're right, with encapsulated tumours, the prospects are somewhat better than with metastatic (infiltrating) brain tumours. Don't remember which kind Mark had.
I just would have expected to see much more of an impairment in Dr. Greene than this.
Yeah, but still even when brain tumors aren't encapsulated, they can still be removed permantly, but that only happens for the lucky ones. Just about all tumors(even ones in the brain) can be removed for good if they're discovered in their early stages. My grandfather died of brain cancer, but refused surgery and even chemo because he felt he'd had his life. They gave him 3 months but he fought for over a year and died at the age of 88.
Metastatic tumours cannot be removed permanently, since they infiltrate the surrounding tissue. My father died of metastatic brain cancer. They gave him 2-5 years, he was dead within ten weeks.
The other thing is that with neurosurgery, you tend to see enormous impairments, even if it is well done. With infiltrating tumours, there is no way of saying how much of the tissue is affected, and you cannot just remove surrounding tissue because of the way it affects functioning.
Sorry about your father. Yeah, if it's infiltrating it can't be removed permanently. Which sucks. I guess Mark's was like that too. They said his tumor was inoperable. Though, they were able to remove it and said it went fantastic, his tumor returned over a year later. But at the very least, they gave him time to see Ella's birth and spend time with her. One day, they'll find a way to get rid of all tumors permanently, even infiltrating ones, without surgery. Medical science is doing wonders.
I hope you're right. I'm pessimistic about it, because we know so little about the brain so far and anything aggressive enough to get rid of a tumour would also damage the surrounding tissue. But one day in the future, maybe. Sorry about your grandfather, by the way.
I can't really watch Mark's death on ER again and it's been a few years since I saw it, but I remember it being very sad. I just think it's strange that they let him remain in practice for so long without any sort of impairment.
They are currently developing treatments that can kill ALL kinds of brain tumors without having to do surgery, but it's not ready to be tested on humans yet. These experiments have been done on lab mice that have been injected with human brain tumors and so far it's been a success with mice. So, so far so good.
You're talking about DAC, I assume. It sounds promising, but it has yet to be tested in clinical trials. So far, only one university study has shown successes. Personally, I'm skeptical with regards to brain tumours, because of the blood-brain barrier. So you could not inject it via the blood stream, and a direct brain injection (if even possible) sounds very dangerous with regards to damaging surrounding tissue and loss of neuron function. It sounds a bit too good to be true.
mark and carter was the true father son relationship not carter/benton

Thank you for posting. What a wrenching scene. Knowing you only have days to live- what that must feel like.....
"Your ball needs air."
"It's not my ball."
"You set the tone, Carter." <- what Morgenstern told Mark on the first episode, when Carol was brought in with her OD.

Hit Post Comment accidentally- wanted to add that, IMO, this whole episode is one of the best ever put to film......
