Thats just stupid. I listened to what I thought were unknown bands back then AND STILL JUST FOUND THESE GUYS TODAY! The 80s were great, but the music gods were not kind to radio, so bands like this, as good as they are, went unknown by most of us. Its one reason I started a TOTALLY MUSIC ARTIST CHANNEL to be a multi generational rock and metal education and experience so band could be exposed.I also have a TOTALLY FEM METAL CHANNEL to cover that whole phenomenon. Look up; Tall Stories band.

It is a shame that he is no longer here to continue to create kick ass music. His voice had so much depth and richness to it in which no one could replicate. Viewing old videos and listening to his songs is certainly keeping him alive. I remember seeing Badlands in a hole in the wall place in Brooklyn (LaMaurs..sp?) This place was a real dive but they played like they were in an arena.... I'll never forget it. Missing you Ray!!

@502SCS IMHO people ignore Greg Chaisson and Jeff Martin, which is FAIL! Greg is one of the tastiest bass players and knows how to hold down the bottom end, especially when playing w/a guitar player like Jake. Jeff Martin is not only a great drummer but he's a world class singer as well. Check him out w/Racer X, he's got a hell of a range and tons of style. This whole band is world class, it's a shame they didn't do more than they did. I blame the record company for that.

Jake E. Lee kicks ass. He had (and still has) a completely high energy style and sound. His fills are the coolest. Waaay, waaaaaay underrated. Aside from a handful of Randy solos ("Crazy Train," "I Don't Know," "Over the Mountain"), I've always enjoyed Jake's sense of melody (without the neo-classicisms) much more. He has a really understated but effective style. I wish he would release more stuff in the USA.

@joelpaulsero It didn't last because Ray Gillen (vocalist) passed away. The '3rd' Badlands album released after his death was actually the bands demo remastered/remixed. Ray also did an album with BLACK SABBATH before hooking up with Jake E. Lee...while bootlegs of demo's have been around for years, 'The Eternal Idol' was released properly as a 2 disc with Ray's performance on one and Tony Martin's on the other--worth every penny!
