just to let you guys know... foxconn isn't just a manufacturer of electronics for apple. in fact only 25% of foxconn's factories are making apple products. the rest of their factories make Dell products, XBOXs, PS3s, Samsung products, and more.
apple pays workers 33% higher than national average, and suicide rates are lower in the factories than national average too.
i dont disagree, 1 suicide is too much, but i'm saying we can't attach all the blame against apple. apple are at least doing something to stop this from happening. i haven't heard a thing from Dell?
@ProfA12345 probably because of the gap between the price of their products and the pay of the CEO versus the pay of the people that make the products. I guess Apple doesnt employ the workers that make the product due to the logistics of outsourcing so they have no control over their pay but dont you think Apple could make them in the States and take a cut in profits, no, their greed would never allow that.
@timbalion read what, about how many sucessful suicides they had before they had to install the net or how many are still trying even knowing there is a net there?
@Mikej1592 What are your typing this comment on then? what phone do you have? unless your answer is my friends computer and I have no phone.. you are a hypocrite
Why do people at factory commit suicide? Why not just give up that job if it's too much for them, stresfull and long hours? I mean why commit suicide, there are other places to try other jobs, kinda drastic to go and kill yourself if work conditions are poor, middle finger to boss and goodbye. I mean it would be better then to smuggle some camera and record working conditions and publish them to the world, but suicide is really to drastic.
@Mario19676 It's because of a policy that foxconn has. If a worker dies while working, the family of the worker will be paid money, sometimes hundreds of thousands of USD. Although work conditions are bad, this is the reason many commit suicide.
@Godspart0n Well that's weird, wouldn't Foxconn ceo's already change that policy? I mean isn't it easy to change noboy gets refunds when they jump from a roof?
@Mario19676 there has been attempts to change to policy, but it's difficult to do in such a large corporation. It's not like the CEO just makes all the rules and can change them with a snap of his fingers.
@CrazyDelcyTV exactly what @Russlem said: I don't find this joke funny because at the Foxconn factories that Apple gets their parts from the workers have 14+ hours a day with no breaks. Some of the working have both their hands and forearms paralyzed for life due to excessive repetitive labors in these sweat shops. Here, its a big joke to us. "Why are the slaves committing suicide? Don't they understand what a luxury and privilege it is to live and die in our factories?"
@RadProX when people become insensitive to pther people suffering then they will not show mercy when more serious trouble occures...it is about people being indifferent not about mockers

Ahhahaha, love the advertisement system: i got an Android a.d before the video...
About the video itself: it's kind of old news... the new safety procedures have been installed for over a year now. Well, this is how our world works. Sad, really sad...
the sad part about this is that its true. there really are nets from preventing workers from comitting suicide. you would think apple the worlds most valuable tech company that has over 80 billion dollars in a bank and that could afford to give every child in the united states an ipad give a raise to their chinese workers.
@cris178Zune In some factories the net is just above the bottom floor. The workers can still die or suffer serious injury. The net is mostly there to make it easier to clean up the mess... This isn't limited to apple though. Nearly all factories in China owned by rich foreign companies have this problem. I'm glad it's at least getting SOME attention.
