After their career is finally over, U2 will not only leave behind one of the biggest footprints in the history of rock, they’ll leave behind one of the biggest footprints in the history of music. Their 'competition' isn't just rock legends like The Beatles, Elvis, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones-- it's people like Mozart, Beethoven, George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington. They are truly one of the ALL-TIME greats. Anyone who doesn't understand this needs to listen to their ENTIRE catalog.
Bad , Sort of Homecoming and Unforgettable by far 3 of the best if not the best 3 U2 songs. I just cant come up with a trifecta like that from anny album
ATTENTION ALL U2 FANS!(Sorry for the caps lock),On August 12th, we will be watching the music video With or Without you repeatedly all day to boost it's view count up to at the least of 100,000,000 views. We're doing this to compete with Justin Beibers garbage music videos & to make U2 be heard across Youtube. Copy& Paste this across all U2 videos. Spread the word

I love this album, but I think anyone who doesn't pick Joshua Tree is kinda lying to themselves, a little. "A Sort Of Homecoming" is a close second, but "Wire" is the real hidden gem on TUF.
i think wide awake in america is the best... this song is good on the unforgettable fire too because it has an entirely different feel. but 'bad' is immensely better on wide awake; the unforgettable fire version falls short of the live track
my favourite band of all time. a song from my favourite album of all time. alot of people jumped on board with joshua tree, but i think unforgettable fire is immensely better.
The studio version of this song is fantastic. But this live version blows the hinges right off of it. It never fails to give me shivers everytime I listen to it.
I worked for a time with the US National Park Service at Yorktown, VA. On my flight back home, this was one of the tracks that the airline played on the classic rock channel. Very apt, and I just love the song. The girl sat next to me on the plane was looking at me like I was crazy because I was nodding my head to that bass line.
I had a chance to see U2 on this tour, 8th row center FOR FREE and I turned it down because I didn't really know their music! A year later when I heard "live at Red Rocks" I became (and still am) a HUGE fan and am kicking myself for turning down that ticket to this day.
@SWSWines1 I totally agree. Saw them in Charlottesville VA 10/1/09 and going to see them in Philadelphia 7/14/11. I want this song played at my funeral. At my wedding my husband and I had oour frist dance to All I Want Is You - I'd also like to have that in the 360 tour.
The summer skies of 1984 I remember when I was at High School. The innocence of that age and the friends, family and good times we had back in those days. And last but not least the release of this great album.......The Unforgettable Fire.
I heard this song everyday when i was living outside my hometown, hard times... i wished so bad to come back home, and finally this month i am back again!! s2
Turin 2010, dream setlist: A sort of Homecoming The Fly MOFO Discotheque Bad The Unforgettable fire Zoo Station Ultraviolet City of Blinding Lights Unknown caller ACROBAT (yeah, sure xD) Cedars of Lebanon Then I would be ready to die.

If I had to survive a nuclear holocaust, I would hope I would have a enough juice left in my Ipod to listen The Unforgettable Fire, before sucomming to radiation.
OLEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Pedazo de Canción! Un clásico que no se por que motivo no está suficientemente valorado, es poco conocida si bien tiene una letra muy elaborada y la musica es muy pegadiza.
@jmavox Concuerdo totalmente contigo. Sin embargo, la versión del disco es mejor que en vivo. Le falta intensidad a la actuación, sobre todo en las vocales.
If you don't own The Unforgettable Fire, I think you mat be missing out on the finest album they have ever released and perhaps the best album of that decade. The single "Pride" is probably my least favorite track, although I still like the song. The rest of the album is much different than the song Pride imho.
Check out the track "Wire" and listen to the Edge's guitar work. I never get sick of hearing this album and I've been listening to it for 25 years.
Wow, I remember watching this as a kid back in '85 on the public access channel in my town. Seems weird now, what with how big U2 is (well, they were pretty darn popular back then, just not as overexposed). They were massively powerful without all the fuss (I remember watching the Oprah show on rock censorship back in the mid 80s and she didn't even know who U2 was. Now she and Bono are like best friends!) and such. Only thing was the music and the passion. Thanks for the post.

Amazing, I posted this to my facebook with the memory ofbeing stationed on the Korean DMZ with the Second Infantry Division. We would watch jetcraft launch from South Korea, fly to the DMZ and immediately pull back as a MIG from the North would appear and do the same- a game of high tech high risk cat and mouse while me and the signal company lsitened to the drama of felid excersises on the radio s with Unforgettable Fire playing. AMAZING you hold a similar memory.
Thanks achtungirl. This version stick outs. I missed them as a kid in 1984, but saw them, second row, in 1987 for the Joshua Tree tour. Unforgettable.

I have just went to u2 myspace. I can't believe how AWESOME the song "unknown caller" is. This whole album minus the turd know as "get on your boots" is mindblowingly excellent!!!! They are at the top of their game with this one. I had planned not to buy any songs from the album because of the "turd" as a matter of fact I was very angry with this song. Now, I feel this is easily one of their top works of art and I will make it a priority of to own it!!! Great job men!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
How can u say that. I own and love every u2 album, but i refuse to buy there latest piece of shit. Bono's volcals are garbage, and what happened to the edge's icey riffs. I AM SO FUCKING DISSAPOINTED!!!
You've got bigger problems that being pissed at U2. Either you can't spell or you can't type. Sort yourself out before you post again. It's SO FUCKING ANNOYING!!!
This is a very unhappy song and i cried coz the pain is very servere and strict i tried to wipe the tear out of my eyes but i felt about marrissa gramond's funeral she died in a car accident aged 17 she was a nasty woman i had no sympathy 4 her but the song reminds me of the story of the prodigal son but i decided to cope with the pain.
I loved this song... I miss the sincerity and purity of early U2. Full of faith, piss and vinegar. May Mr. Hewson and Mr. Evans remember their roots again and make great music again, wow what a song! God bless 'em!

How can u say that. I own and love every u2 album, but i refuse to buy there latest piece of shit. Bono's volcals are garbage, and what happened to the edge's icey riffs. I AM SO FUCKING DISSAPOINTED!!!

One of my favorite U2 songs. Not played on the radio much, if any.

I loved this song... I miss the sincerity and purity of early U2. Full of faith, piss and vinegar. May Mr. Hewson and Mr. Evans remember their roots again and make great music again, wow what a song! God bless 'em!
