@TTiger75 yes, and no. since battletech took thier visual designs ("battledroids/battlemech") from Macross and other anime. meaning that those are not any of those. but it goes to show how good the design was that so many other shows, games, movies used them.

No, those are Robotech (Macross) Destroids. They are the Raidar-X (Defender), Spartan (Phalanx), Gladiator (Spartan), and Excalibur (Tomahawk) respectively (names in parentheses are the original Japanese names).

ROBOTECH IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER

but as a kid I couldn't get into the toys, it seems like the scale was off on everything and they were way expensive. But seriously, one of the best shows ever, animated or otherwise. I think it was the first cartoon that felt like it wasn't insulting my intelligence to some degree. I mean I loved Transformers and GI Joe, but people died on Robotech, man! And it was the first show that had continuity, which I was starved for as a kid in the 80's.

These were always sold out when I was younger and went to Toys R Us, then they discontinued them after a year. I had to stick with GI Joes and Transformers in the 80s. Robotech toys were impossible to find plus when you have to depend on your mom for a ride and purchasing power you are stuck with what you get.

Considering I got the SDF=1 as a gift when I was 7 and never paid attention to Robotech until the Toonami reruns 11 years later, it's a damn shame that the few times I did play with it resulted in at least 3 plastic spines breaking off, and it yellowing, I should have just put it back in the box until I started college. Sigh.
