Oh that is a Battletech Rifleman at 00:16, a Battletech Quasimodo 2IIC at 00:17, Battletech Battle Titan at 00:18, a Battletech Warhammer 00:19 at and a Battletech Locust at 00:20? =)
@TTiger75 yes, and no. since battletech took thier visual designs ("battledroids/battlemech") from Macross and other anime. meaning that those are not any of those. but it goes to show how good the design was that so many other shows, games, movies used them.
proves how well marketing works in US/UK, Transformers still going strong.... Gobot was brought out by Transformers, and robotech well apart from the odd thing you dnt hear bout the much any more
No, those are Robotech (Macross) Destroids. They are the Raidar-X (Defender), Spartan (Phalanx), Gladiator (Spartan), and Excalibur (Tomahawk) respectively (names in parentheses are the original Japanese names).
i have one -not in the greatest shape -could do with some replacement parts but its a great toy played with it a ton when i was a kid it was one of my favorites
@Egonsystem When t eh robotech stuff had metal. Now most of the stuff today is plastic. And you have to pay out the rear if you want to even get one of the original metal robotech items.
this kid does not know how to play with the sdf1 for shit. look how fast he moves all the pieces. have to move that shit slower as big as the sdf1 was.
@CaffeinatedThinking - sit down and watch the show with him first so he gets some appreciation first, better sooner than later... but awsome! I have never been able to let go to my Robotech stuff, even after seeing things I bought for ten bucks become hundreds...
@StigmaNYC Sweet. Wish I could find the jackass that stole my Jetfire when I was a kid. I would totally kick his ass even though I'm 35 now. I mowed like 15 lawns just so that i could buy it. Damn you, Chris that moved to Florida.
but as a kid I couldn't get into the toys, it seems like the scale was off on everything and they were way expensive. But seriously, one of the best shows ever, animated or otherwise. I think it was the first cartoon that felt like it wasn't insulting my intelligence to some degree. I mean I loved Transformers and GI Joe, but people died on Robotech, man! And it was the first show that had continuity, which I was starved for as a kid in the 80's.
It's an anime fan starter if you ask me the show was the first anime I saw and now I love it I even have a collection of the 1st 12 books in it's first cover from 20/30 years ago it's sad that shadow cronicals was the last part they made
These were always sold out when I was younger and went to Toys R Us, then they discontinued them after a year. I had to stick with GI Joes and Transformers in the 80s. Robotech toys were impossible to find plus when you have to depend on your mom for a ride and purchasing power you are stuck with what you get.
I always wanted this as a kid and ever since I've wanted to get one. I've always loved the SDF-1 and it's Humanoid Transformation form. God I wish I could find an affordable one in great condition!
When I was 12 or 13 I did a bicycle paper route delivering newspapers and made about $25 bucks before quitting. Ended up buying this. I think at the time this actually cost no more than $24 back then.
dude its not mac-floos its macross! but macross and robotech are the same thing but robotech just steals off macross and even megazone 23 so i prefer SDF Macross not robotech they pretty much stole two of those anime shows of macross and megazone 23
who the heck wanted sdf1 or battleloids? everyone wanted the jet's and cyclones! WTF Matchbox! I was so mad when I had to settle for Jetfire/Skyfire and bought a 'returned' cyclone in California. Matchbox had low production of the best stuff everyone wanted
space defense fortress. I guess I had a love affair with min-mei as a young pilot and the only way to her heart was a veritech like Rick Hunter. hahaha
@calvinthedestroyer Agreed. Considering I got the SDF=1 as a gift when I was 7 and never paid attention to Robotech until the Toonami reruns 11 years later, it's a damn shame that the few times I did play with it resulted in at least 3 plastic spines breaking off, and it yellowing, I should have just put it back in the box until I started college. Sigh.
Hehehe... actually I AM FROM MEXICO!!! However, I haven't seen one like that in a looong time. I remember I saw several "Macres" VJ-1 Knock-offs from Taiwan when I was a kid though... Last year I got a Skull squadron Takakoru VJ-1 knock off for 3 dls in Mexico city, hehe...
I remember this commerical when I was a kid, I always wanted to smack that little punk out because he had a SDF-1 and I didn't. =o[
