Once I managed to chain nearly 70 hits. In a 9 second limit by recognizing the pattern.

Nice, but if you wanted to up the FF8 PC popularity status a bit more, I recommend using at least a software DLS that is a lot better than the default one (along with better tracks) to use in the game. It sounds a lot better that way. I recommend Samuel Slight's DLS. However, be warned, if you don't have a soundcard to load the DLS with, not only will you have to use FF8 Configurator and an extra package to get good quality music, but, even with those two, your music quality won't be as good.

Actually, I didn't have to use Samuel Slight's DLS to have the best sound quality. How come mine plays 100% sound quality. I can even hear the music from the original soundtracks as well.

I don't know. To me, it sounds like General MIDI. The only way to make it sound the same is to (A) replace the music "instruments" in the game with the sounds in the "actual" game or (B) make a program that plays music files in the background, following instructions from the game when the game tells itself to play music. Hey, they did B with Final Fantasy VII - why not VIII?

First of all, I have the original soundtrack. I listened to each one and then played the game. In my PC the music plays 100% quality in both the game and soundtrack. In my theory, maybe it's the cause that my sound card is actually HD audio. Either that or it's the driver of my sound card. And yes my speakers are surround sound. It's either those 3 that make the music sound alike. And I use the PC version of the game and not the PSX. My only problem is the graphics, doesn't look nice.
