  • Kind of takes your breath away..................

  • He's truly one of a kind. He has an old world grace, charm and intellect, but still remains hip.

His songs will live forever. I met him once after a concert in Vancouver; he gave a red rose to my wife and all of the women who had attended.

  • with his little anecdote he brings courteously spain (with the shadows that spain bears) into the universal line....as everything always should be but too rarely is,

in the last times I am kind of be asking myself if he is actually still really in the world or if he is in a limbo touching things that we're not able to imagine. lucky us that he is allowed to live so many years!!!! I'm wondering what he will create more...

    so grateful for this speech!

    Thanks for uploading.

  • If was sitting in that room I would have been sobbing by the end of this speech

  • Sharing a slice of history with such a gracious man is a privilege.

  • I'm crying a bit, but it's because I put too much mustard in my rice.

Although if I'm in awe, it's definitely because of this awesome speech.

  • the Spanish musician died, but became music

  • Of course I love all his songs but listening to his speech I realise I love every single word he speaks. I love this man where the voice and words come from. Truly one and only.

  • I can, without exaggeration, not think of a more gracious person. (I met him once, briefly, at Canter's Deli in Hollywood.)

  • Leonard Cohen changed my life.

  • Spoken from such a place of honesty and simplicity and beauty - not unlike the man himself. I am deeply touched!

  • Parece que está cantando el cabrón. Larga vida al maestro Cohen!!!

  • I wept.

  • Amazing, amazing amazing, deep and genuine words from this man..... the music is in you and the words come from a place that you can almost feel every time I hear your songs/poetry ....To use your words gossip00 I too am honoured to love Leonard Cohen's music!!

  • all that telling, not reading, a true poet.

  • what a wonderful man, it is a privilege to access such wonderful words through your medium, otherwise we would never hear such words. i cry big tears when i listen to this story, quite astounding really.. long live the maestro, Mr Leonard Cohen... methinks we shall never see his like again. padrigin.. i would join you in that coffee mindrunfree...

  • What a beautiful man. I wish he were a coffee, I'd sip him in the morning every day.

  • Me pregunto si Cascos se enteró de algo

  • @AlconPablo no llevaba puestos los cascos.... asi que lo dudo......

  • How humble, selfless and eloquent an artist he is. To be able to thank Spain and tell that wonderful story and how he came to carry a bit of Spain wherever he went.

  • Westmount MTL, representin´!!!!

  • terribly humble, beautiful. no words.

  • Mr. Cohen. The Humble Genius and Word Painter..:-)

  • which goes to show that when you speak from a place of truth, you don't need notes. Thankyou.

  • One never knows, does one.

  • Greatest acceptance speech of all time?

  • @DT4Fs Definitely !!!

  • I'm crying

  • He is the last of the living.

  • Love you Leonard

  • What a beautiful speech, how humbling that he would thank the soil of where flamenco comes for letting him put his "signature at the bottom of the page".

  • Magical! Beautiful! Thank you Leonard for your expression of gratitude and thank you for inspiring a whole generation with your poetry and songs...

  • thanks for sharing! the interpreter is really unbearable... (and I have Spanish as mother tongue...)

  • This is both beautiful and remarkable. As a guitarist and artist, I am awe-struck by these magical words.

  • "Poetry comes from a place that no one commands, that no one conquers. So I feel somewhat like a charlatan to accept an award for an activity which I do not command. In other words, if I knew where the good songs came from I would go there more often."

What a beautiful speech.I’m honoured to love Leonard Cohen’s music, poetry ,and art.In every century there are only a few unique individuals that leave their mark on the world. Leonard Cohen is definitely one of them.

  • Solo gelungen! Ein exzellenter Redner und ein wunderbarer Mensch obendrein. Auf diese Art von seinem Leben zu erzählen, kann nur einer von ganz großem Format. Und noch etwas - den Weg zum Ort woher Poesie kommt, hat Leonard schon längst gefunden, auch wenn er so bescheiden sagt : " if I knew where the good songs came from I would go there more often". Große klasse!

Danke DrHGuy für dieses Video und Coco Éclair für die Transkription!

  • just great, thanks.

  • Thank you. Thank you for this.

  • perfectly delicious

  • Thanks for this - When he gave his intro I kept waiting for him to break into song

  • Beautiful, honest words from a truly gifted, selfless gentleman.

  • Thank you so much for this...every waver of his voice, every 'august' thought about the minibar....Our Man...just so humble about his talent, and eloquent in telling his stories...we are all so proud....
