You keep saying it's all about money. But in reality, you mean access to resources. The current system of monetary economics makes such innovations impossible for it will hamper profits for current established institutions.
If you want to see such innovation occur, we need to remove the need for money and stop having it hinder progress.
@TheRealVerbz2 We have the technology to eliminate the need for human labor. Jobs are going away not just because of outsourcing, but due to automation. If we even went to "sound money," suppression of technologies will still occur. If I recall correctly, Nikola Tesla was still living with what you would consider actual money, and his ideas are still being suppressed.
Astronauts don't pay for the food on their ship, and we are on a ship called planet earth. We don't need to pay.

@S0up3rD0up3r Resources are only a part of it.
It takes People to mine the resources, ship them, manufacture them, put them together etc.
People's labor can't be bought in resources and workers need to be paid for their time and effort with some form of common currency.
The fiat currency used today is not "money."
If Ron Paul were president I'm confident we would see some of these technologies come to fruition.
The reality of the current economy is that these projects need funding.

@S0up3rD0up3r That's a nice philosophy until we can actually apply those suppressed technologies.
Until then... we have the reality of an economy to deal with.
Takes time to make that transition.
