I absolutely love this video, when i was stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB of which the planes with tail numbers starting in SJ belong, our squadron commander would play this video before our Commanders Calls to get everyone pumped up. I miss sitting at the end of the runway watching these things takeoff for night sorties, and trying to count the rings around the exhaust flames as they flew over us

Well the F-15C is a great fighter but it will never in my eyes be as great as the F-14 Tomcat. It would lose in a fight with the Tomcat for the simple fact that it doesn't have the shoot down range of the Tomcat. A Tomcat could track 24 of them lock onto 6 of them from 100 miles and shoot them down with Phoenix missiles. The Eagle would never know what hit it. I guess you could say I favor the Tomcat but that's because I served in a Tomcat Squadron back in the 1980s.

Haven't you ever noticed that so many Russian designs look very much like the F-15? There's a reason why this is true. By the way, there's a new version of the F-15 being tested called the F-15SE, or Silent Eagle. It has many of the advancements of the F-22 Raptor, including stealth capability. I've seen 2 versions of the SE, one with a tail like the current F-15 and one with a splayed tail like the F-22.

So yea, the F-15 will be around for years to come. So much for that knowledge you pretend to have...

The F-15 Strike Eagle IS a devistating weapon and has one hell of a track record, but at the same time the F-15 Eagle is a beautiful & graceful when it's in the air, even when it's sitting on the ground it's badass! This video is a really great tribute to the Aircraft, The Pilots who fly them, And to the Airmen who keep this awsome Jet in Tip Top condition day in, day out! Sad to see em' being phazed out by the YF-22.

That's exactly what's happening. The F-22 replaced the F-15 as the air superiority airplane, but the F-15 is still being used in other areas. The F-35 will take the F-15 out of service along with the F-16, though.

idk what all the rules and regulations are for super sonic flight, but i'm sure there are some areas where you can break the sound barrier over land, like some of the test ranges out west, which is probably where that clip @ 3:27 was taken judging by the looks of the surrounding terrain. as far as I know there is no such thing as a sub sonic boom. Now there is such a thing as a mini boom, for example when an aircraft is just shy of mach 1.0 and goes into a tight turn, the sudden lateral acceleration will cause a small sonic boom, but the F-15 was clearly in straight and level flight when it DID break the sound barrier. Fighter planes break the sound barrier right next to aircraft carriers for demonstrations and nobody is "knocked on their backs" at that distance and altitude.

The number released my say the Mig is faster, but there is no way the speed listed for the F-15 is it's true top speed. Head out to your local or nearest Air Force base and sign up to take a HOP. IT make take you a while to get a ride but as a U.S. citizen/tax payer your actually "OWN" that aircraft so go take HOP. Can't guaranteed when you will be able to fly it but I haven't heard of someone NOT flying during their ride. :) ENJOY

The only way a civilian will get a ride in an F-15 is if that person is a VIP (i.e. movie star, comedian, president, etc.) And they'll only get it after going through A LOT of red tape.

Skipplet it is not true. During my career in the military and I have seen and rode with civilians as they took hops in many different military aircraft. Any U.S. civilian wishing to take a HOP can do so. All they have to do is sign up at any AF, Army or Navy base. Now there is a LONG waiting list but stick with it eventually the turn will come up.
