I think they were just too good to make it huge and Lawrence didn't sing in that phony emotional way so many singers do. Plus the lyrics were to poetic and obscure for most people to relate to. Long Live Felt!!!
@WilliamRufus: I think Lawrence uses his limited voice with a stunning effect, making this songs even more unique because in this way they don't sound like average pop-rock songs...
but you are probably right saying that it's L's voice the reason why they didn't make it. It's too detached and unsentimental to appeal masses. I like it a lot though, and can't imagine any Felt song sung by anyone else..
@dikidar I have written the same thing elsewhere on youtube: that this band should have been as big as the cure and the smiths. Felt and the Cocteau Twins are my favorite band of all time.
ITS A TRIP TO SEE THAT EVERY BAND OR MUSICIAN HAS SOME DIE HARD FANS , LIKE THERE IS NOTHING FUCKIN SPECIAL ABOUT THIS, IN FACT ITS REALLY GAY YET IM SURE SOMEONE IS JUST BLOWN AWAY AND THEY ARE THINKING THAT MUSIC DOESNT GET BETTER THEN THIS, I ACCIDENTLY GOT HERE AS I WAS LOOKING FOR FELT THE BAND FROM THE 60S THAT DOES PRETTY COOL PSYCHEDELIC BLUES ROCK. THIS GUY SOUNDS LIKE TIM ARMSTRONG ATTEMPTING HIS LOU REED IMPRESSION , EXCEPT LOU REED WRITES AMAZING LYRICS
The lyrics to this song are great. You should play this again and really listen to it before tagging it as "gay". Yes, he does try to sound like Lou Reed, but even Iggy Pop was inspired by Lou Reed. The fact that you compared the vocals to Tim Armstrong (really, the guy from Rancid?), sort of detracts from your whole comment. Also, your caps lock is on.
@randomviewer2007 . k i been listening. at least 5 times, just to make sure im not pushing away my future all time favorite band! you know how a song can grow on ya lol but yeah man i think i hate this shit.im not just being some asshole here, im a musician, a music lover, of all sorts of completely different genres. i got an open mind ,but when i form an opinion i fight for what i know. and i know this song sucks. what in the fuck is he even talking about ! whatever it is , its nothing great.
@randomviewer2007 . everybodys taste differs. people listen and interpret their own way.i dont know what id do if i didnt have music to turn to.and you sure as hell dont listen to what anybody has to say when its something negative about what you love. which was the original point i intended to make. the tim armstrong lou reed thing was an insult aimed at this vocalist. which was consistent with the theme of my comment.
@randomviewer2007 . i honestly did listen to this over 6 times easy, like you told me to,trying to find something cool in it , which i was unsuccessful in doing . if you would take the time to listen to the band im about to recommend to you, which is something i dont usually do , unless you prove to be worthy, or in your case, im just in a good mood, in actuality im giving you a gift! more precious then life! becuz without the feeling u get from it, life aint worth shit, . "world" by Felt.
@Dead4everYoung Everyone has different tastes. I think the 60's felt, that in your opinion does "pretty cool psychedelic blues rock" , sounds like shit; but that's just my opinion. Lawrence isn't trying to sound like Dylan, that's just how his voice sounds; and he can't change that even if he wanted to. Besides, it's not like Dylan has a good voice to begin with. Lawrence is a genius, and Maurice Deebank is the guitar player Dylan never was and never will be.
Used to have Felt records until I had to sell/give away my record collection. So nice to hear this track again.

Why this group never made it big must be one of the greatest mysteries of all time.

@dikidar They did make it big, they just didn't sell a lot of records. It's not the same thing.
