Back in '84 I hated radio 1 with a passion, I still do, and I found Laser 558 and was hooked. Great memories.

Just stumbled upon it back in 1984 living in my bed-sit in South East London, very fond memories, listen to all day/all night it was fantastic, loved it Charlie Wolf was the best, really showed Radio 1 and Capital how to do it.

It's a shame it's not around now, what was there hook 58 Mins of music in the hour, just going through these videos brought back so many memories .

@IMAXGT From what I read the Communicator was scrapped but could be wrong. In the case of Caroline's Ross Revenge on the other hand its still afloat and being maintained by a volunteer group.

I became a big fan of laser 558 in the 80s sadly no longer with us - Thankfully we still have Radio Caroline still going strong after 43 years listen on sky 0199 - Thanks for posting

dont think it changed the face of music,the older stations done that,looks like the ship (communicator) is about to be broken up

Interesting item. I have fond memories of Laser 558. It certainly changed the face of music radio in the UK.
