It mighta been neat if there was a spin off with opie grown up with his own family, instead of that cruddy mayberry rfd show. But I'm sure hollywood woulda ruined it just the same.

Just a single scene example of why this show is the best of all time. A father's gentle love for his son. Andy was great at explaining things to Opie in terms he could understand...and us the viewers too.
