After reading a ton of the comments on here. I think there are people that need to do a blind listening test. So many are quick to criticize the keyboard but I bet with different blind listening tests, many keys players (even seasoned players) wouldn't be able to tell the difference nor would they care because it's not a SAMPLED Rhodes. It's str8 up Analog Mechanic loveliness.
Maybe anyone will explain to me why from the note n° 51 to upnotes, Rhodes chooses good "brillant metallic" sound and from n°51 to downnotes, Rhodes chooses "neutral" sound ? How to resolve it on my new Rhodes ?
Sounds quite nice, although it's noticeable how the attack of the sound is quite different above and below middle D or E. Different hammer tips for the higher notes perhaps?
Am I the only one who thinks that this piano sounds more like the plunky silver sparkle top pianos with the untapered tines ? Bitches brew tone. Like it hough but would NEVER EVER trade my '74 Mark I Suitcase 88 for it.
Rhodes a te mas :-) (Funny how the explanation sounds in Japanese).
I don't like the new MK7 series sound, but this review is great.Keep posting videos, some of the new brand Clavia Nord Piano 88 or about the KawaiMP6 should be great.
If this was an emulation in a keyboard.. I would say it sounds fake and tinny. its such a shame that they used the mark 5 as a template for this rhodes. WHY!!
@FenrirLupus between the latest PB3 and a couple others, they pretty sound the same. It's when they use a Leslie simulator is where they start sounding different. I've heard comparisons between the Nord C2 and a vintage B3 and it was Scary close. Most vintage stuff is hard to get exact if the tone is generated by a hammer hitting strings. Clavinets are difficult to duplicate, I still haven't heard a decent digital clavinet. Roland is getting grand pianos better, but still not exact.
Saw some strange things when he opened it... the higher notes seemed to either have no dampers or their darker in colour.
Then unless my eyes decieve me, the high treble tone-bars have no escapement screws. You can see the bolt of the tine-block, then the tone screw. But the next screw (escapement) looks like its not there.
Please someone must tell me the name of the track he is beginning to play @ 08:09 want to buy it anywhere but dont know the name its awesome tune^^ i just watched for some revies for midi keyboards and just find this awesome guy :D i love him^^ hes a great musican just amazing what he can doing i watched all videos from this guy ;) sry for bad english i am german and dont udnerstand japanese too ;) help me with the song please ;) love it
Maybe it's the recording, but the high endof the piano sounds like a kids toy piano. I understand that the action on the new MK VII is smoother, but I think the older RHodes Mk I stage and suitcase ( I have one of each ) sound much better. A smoother richer sound and not as tinny.
@Keyboardman88 I was thinking the EXACT same thing. It's too refined. I used to own a vintage Rhodes and it was much softer and a little more fuzzy in the resonance.
@0blacone I don't think so. I've heard other MkVII and they all kind of sound the same...a little too defined and sharp toned. Even the Dyno-My-Pianos had a smoother sound.
this is a fantastic instrument but they have to make a better deal with the price too expensive and why dont they bring it to europe does anybody know?
I have test this in a shop near my area in france and oh my god, it's just awesome ^^, there is just only two shop in france have this one ^^ the price is very expensive but it's a pure analogue mechanical stuff ^^ !!! i hope have one of these one day ^^
This dude Katsunori plays beautiflul music in all his reviews. It almost makes you want to buy every board he test runs. Oh yeah and 5:18 = :())

è grosso, ingombrante, magari pesa pure un casino e costa una legnata!! A dire il vero è pure brutto.

It's a bit plinky and harsh, and lacks the smokiness of the originals.
