Very nicely done. narrator is professional at describing the procedures. Thought this would make me sick to watch but found it educational. Thank you..
I had mine done when I was 20, Im now 23, everything went well. Had the odd stitch come out here and there, only went back under the knife once to replace a continuous stitch. But nevertheless, its been great. Vision has improved alot!
hey i had cornea ulcer and my parents and doctors are thinking about a transpplant of the cornea since i still got something cloudy in there..im 15 and im scared to get that transplant it looks painful..does it hurt??????
Hey, I am 23 and had a cornea transplant a year ago when I was 22. I was given two options for the procedure: going under anesthesia, or do it awake under the influence of strong sedatives. I chose strong sedatives. It was not painful or scary at all. I was worried going in but the sedative takes care of that. The recovery was a slight bit painful but nothing more than some tylenol with codeine could handle.
halo i have keratoconus my eye is shaped like a cone( that wat the doctor said) im 16. is it bad to have my transplant wen im 17 or do i have to wait till i am in my 20s?
That is up to the patient and doctor. The eye can have a local anesthesia when the patient is asleep then allow the patient to be awake and pain free for the rest of the procedure.
What is the procedure for receiving a cornea transplant? Is it a matter of how far along keratoconus has progressed, availability of a doner cornea, and physician referral?
The colored part of the eye is the iris, this does not change. Most patients and family members notice a gray/blue color change since they see some swelling or scarring of the cornea (outside layer) which can cover the iris.
I have just had this done 4 days ago!! Amazing, I was in no pain afterwards and eyepatch taken off next day. 4 days later and I feel like I can see better already, I know I have a long wait ahead of me for the best vision possible..
eye surgery is always worrisome and frightening to the patient. thankfully, corneal surgeons are becoming very adept at this surgery as it is the most common need for corneal transplant. best wishes and speedy recovery.
is the pupil touched at all during the procedure?
RandomPerson1000000 1 year ago
The lens and iris (colored portion inside eye) is avoided. The pupil is the open space in the middle of the iris.

does not hurt. probably would be under general anesthesia and there is typically very little pain in the recovery period. usually just need tylenol.

there is no correct age for surgery. it is completely made knowing all of the factors from each individual patient.

Can you get a Corneal transplant just for eye color reasons? I have boring brown eyes and I want to have green eyes! I hope I can find a donar!

transplants do not change eye color.

When to proceed with a cornea transplant has mainly to do with keratoconus progression alone.

I understand that there's no reason that they should, but why did my grandfather's eyes go from green to light blue following surgery?

What happens to the donor/who is the donor? LIke do they just go blind, or is it a patient who has died or is already blind?
jonnybeatnic 3 years ago
the donor has deceased prior to harvesting organs.

Man you must need REALLY steady hands to do this...
