This is just wrong. All it demonstrates is that as the time of the race approaches 1 second, the runner gets infinitely closer to the turtle. But if you calculate each of their progress at any time past 1 second, you would see that the runner has passed the turtle. They're just tricking people with the concept of infinity.
This just proves the universe is not inifinitly big. there are not infinite points between to spacs in real life. and a foot race is not a math problem.
@BlakeFowlerVideos yes, there are infinite points, and also the universe is infinitly big, see Nassim Haramein, the universe is FRACTAL! this is the answer of this paradox.
Flawed reasoning. This carries on to infinity, but the distance gets infinitesimally smaller. They cancel out, leaving Achilles to reach the tortoise without any bother.
No. Achilles would overtake the tortoise after 1 second. This isn't even a paradox, it's just like watching something in infinite slowmotion, it will appear he never takes over, unless you play the bit after the first second.
@LeonAmarantos I look at it in practical terms. If the tortoise would never take over because both were moving constantly at a steady pace (Well theres a funny part, they're not.)
Then that means that this youtube video will never end, because before it gets to 1:46 it must reach 0:53, and before that 0:26.5, and before that 0:13.25, and before that... You get the message.
not saying your wrong because this paradox is stupid and achilles would obviously catch up, but the example you used doesnt work due to the fact that the end point of the youtube bar isnt moving.
@saber1992 That's the thing though, there is no reason why there must be two moving forces. The same principle applies even with the stationary end of the youtube bar. The loader still has to get half way towards it before it can go fullway, therefore is in an endless loop of getting halfway before it gets halfway before it gets halfway...
.9999 Repeating equal 1...

if this was the case, then the tortoise and achillies were moving their legs at the same speed?

why is he racing a tortoise anyway?

unless there was a deeper meaning to this, this is the dumbest shit I've seen

he would catch up because all that supposedly takes place in one second

@imranhamid99 They don't cancel each other out. Numbers can get infinitely smaller without going into the minuses.

@OMGTKKYBDx They do when dividing. 2/0.5 is 1. 4/0.25 is 1 etc.

@imranhamid99 xD I'm lost but I'll believe you because I can't prove you wrong : L
OMGTKKYBDx 4 months ago
@imranhamid99 Uhh, are you sure your math is correct?
2/0.5 = 4. 2/(1/2) = 2*2/1 = 4/1 = 4.
