It's hard to really tell exactly what the dude is reving his bike at from a video when you can't even see the RPM's. I know if I rev'd up my bike to redline it would be insanely loud even if it was bone stock. That does not sound like 14K rpm's. He's probably running it at half throttle b/c it's freezing out and it won't start...a motor can really hesitate when it's that cold!

The oil hasn't had the time to warm up and thouroughly lubricate everything. Your outside temps will be a major factor. If you live in neg temps and you're cold starting an engine and banging the redline, your doing damage, I don't care what anyone says.

I have been to roadraces where the winner smokes the tire til it pops. It takes a few minutes banging the rev limiter the whole time. Though I agree this is not the best thing for the longevity of the engine, the ignition is designed to minimize catastrophic failure, hence the term rev limiter. Pretty hard to blow up a stock or lightly modified jap bike now days.

The 4 stroke engine will be fine. Just like any car, or snowmobile that is cold, they will let you know if it is not go time. It would not be running that well stone cold. 2 strokes will hurt them selves with a cold seize though - no oil working for you there.
