  • This or the HAF 922 / Shinobi? Looking into the H70 for cooling, dont think it would be a problem fitting it in either case

  • Will the white paint ever fade?

  • @kevelife Yeah it will go yellow eventually.

  • It strikes me that a major decider between the 400r and 500r would be how one wants to set the H100 (intake or exhaust) where intake would be for the 500r since there is a meshed filter on top and exhaust for the 400r since it has a large honeycom vent on top. Other deciders would be fan controller in the 500r and cage removal in the 500r.

  • Hey Tom! I was really interestet in getting this case for a friend but when I saw the case flexing while you removed the HDD cage @8:25 I was really concerned about the integrity of the whole enclosure. At first it seemed that the case was just rocking on the table because you pulled hard on the cage but I watched the part repeatedly and it seems that the whole case is flexing, still I'm not sure what I saw so you can clear it all up for me.

    Cheers!

  • @skawster its fine dude :) the door adds loads of strength as with all cases :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Thanks for the lightning-fast reply and for the awesome vids.

  • No dust filters on the intake fans ??

I'm sorry, but that's totally unacceptable.

  • @HitchHikersBlues There is. Only the side panel doesn't.

  • Just a note of thanks really, completed my first ever PC build and following your channel found your advice really helpful. I love this case really glad I went with the white version :) Corsair Carbide 500R White Case Intel Core i7 2600K XFX AMD Radeon HD 7970 3072MB Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 Memory Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 Motherboard Corsair TX 850W ATX2.31 80 PLUS® Bronze PSU Crucial CT128M4SSD2 128GB M4 SSD Samsung S222AB 22x DVD+/-RW SATA Black Pioneer BDR-S06XLB 12x Blu-Ray ReWriter
  • @profrumpo what did you have to give and did you build it yourself??? =)

  • do you think that the black version will look good with red LED fans ?

  • When you were pulling the drive cage out @08:30 the case seemed to be wobbling, is the structure not stable? Also, with such a large unfiltered area on the side panel is dust quite a big problem?

  • So a XSPC RS240 would not fit comfortably inside? Mine you i won't be overclocking my CPU and besides temps never pass 45'C with my 1090T @ 4.2ghz with 1.45v. yes i did test it's overclocking prowess. Can it fit in an 400R? Want my Silverstone TJ case for my X79-UD9

  • Got this case and it was no trouble at all to install a 140mm fan in the bottom with a 1000w chieftec psu. If you'd flip the psu and have it the "right" way the cables runs nice and clean past the intake ;)

The plastic mesh on the top really messed up the airflow for my noctua flx fans, so I ripped it out. Don't really need the mesh there when using it as a exhaust anyway.

  • Hi Tom. You mentioned at the start of the video that the metal and plastic mesh cover would significantly impede airflow. Do you think it would be worth adding extra 120mm fans at the top for an air-cooling system or would the cooling difference be negligable?

  • @c3026209 if you use the roof as exhaust just remove the plastic mesh

  • wobbling like a cheap 20$ case >.<

  • I can see a H100 in the top for the CPU and a GPU loop with a 240 rad in the front already.

  • I've noticed that in most of your case reviews, you have your power supply's facing upward. Do you prefer it like that or facing down? Nice review btw.

  • Thanks for the video! You said this wasnt a monster cooling case, how so? What is it lacking when it comes to cooling abillity?

Also you said it wasnt the best for water cooling. I saw a video review by newegg before this one and they said the opposite and that a corsair H100 would be a perfect fit for it (not surprisingly a certain corsair hydro cooler fits into the corsair case), search for "newegg 500R" to see the review.

  • I'm sorry but I really just don't enjoy your funny faces and burping on camera. It discredits your entire review because of amateurish behavior.

  • And if you could tell me please, the so called push and pull system with the H100 radiator to the top of the case wouldn't fit no way there? Is there a possibility to put the two fans on top of and put the radiator and the two other fans underneath?

Would be very pleased, if you could answer! Thanks a lot!

  • @TallinkTitanic I answered this in the video.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms

Ok, I hope then that i understood correctly, that it is not possible with this case.

But could you suggest me a case where I could but such kind on push-pull system H100 radiator to the top of the case? It would be nice, if the case isn't very much expensive than this one.

Thanks a lot! And I really enjoyed your review. :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms 500r or 600t?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms break out the dremmel!

  • @TallinkTitanic Don't listen to this guy on this review, he half Assed this review. I own a 500R & what you want to do is place the Rad inside the case, on the top you want to mount two 140mm fans and have them blowing air down (pushing) inside the case. Then go to NewEgg and purchase Scythe SY1212SL12H 120mm Case Fans to pull air threw the Rad & your all set. I have this setup with an ASRock Gen3 Extreme7, by going this route I achieved my push pull config & I still had about 4mm of clearance.

  • Comment removed

  • How much the two 120mm or 140mm on top would help to improve the cooling of the case?

  • @TallinkTitanic A lot depending on the CFM, the best fans are over 120CFM.

  • @TallinkTitanic I forgot to add that the come with the case push something like 80 CFM max.

  • should i get HAF X or this?

I'm looking for the best cooling

  • @paralogixer Neither, go buy the 800D and never have to get another case again!

  • I'm looking to go from my Azza hurrican 2000 case to the 500R and I was worried if it would be able to hold a Hyper 212 Plus. That Noctua cleared that up. lol

  • i have to say thank you for this video. after this review i got myself i5 2500k +gtx570 setup in this case. It is awesome case and very cool inside. its a shame you havent showen it ON with all fans and lights on. When i first time turned it on, i did not realised it has lighs too. :D Looks savage!

  • I'm seriously considering on moving to this case. Just a few questions:

    -Are the front fans filtered?

-As well as for the side mesh, is there a filter large enough to cover that spot, or would the 2x120mm fans with each a filter a better choice?

  • @junitono1

-There is a front fan filter/mesh thing, but it isn't removable, so its hard to clean.

-There is no filter for the side panel, I don't know if there is a filter large enough to cover it, as for the fans, i feel unqualified to answer that.

  • @junitono1 I have one and the answer is no for filters. If your doing Air cooling then Yes in theory but with a H100 the answer is no.

  • Hi out of these 3 which would you go for.

    Raven 3, Fractal R3, 500R?

  • Comment removed

  • @GritzGamer

Honestly. Tom deserved an Oscar already. He provided so much support to the community and web, that most of crappy movies can be easily sacrificed for Tom's award.

I really like your videos, Sir.

  • I'll buy this case. Great review as allways

  • I'm doing a new gaming computer build soon and i was wondering if i sould buy the Corsair 500r or the Cooler master HAF 932?

    BloXx99

  • @BloXx99 Id look at the 500R or the CM Storm Trooper

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Okay, Thanks for the help! Great review by the way.

  • I want to buy a new, smaller case than my NZXT Phantom but I cant decide between the Fractal R3, the Arc midi or this one, maybe even some other choices, what do you think?

  • @Charixy46 depends on its use really?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms I want to use it for watercooling, so a window would be cool but i dont know, I want to watercool a 1090T and maybe my M4A89TD PRO and 6870x2 but I want it to be possible for like 300pounds

  • @Charixy46 This one

  • Bit of a weird one... but this or the Fractal R3 for an almost-silent rig?

  • @JoeWithers100 I think the R3 is designed to be a quiet case as opposed to this being more performance oriented.

  • @achojj Could the 500r not be silenced though? If I got an anti-vibration kit for it and blocked the top 2 fan mounts?

  • @JoeWithers100 Yes but the R3 also has noise dampening foam on both sides of the case. If you want a silent pc then you should probably get a case that focuses on that. Just my 2 cents, both are great choices.

  • @JoeWithers100 deffo the R3

  • Palit GTX 580 3GB

    i5 2500k - Target of 4.8GHz

    ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 3

    Noctua NH-D14

Should I go with the NZXT Phantom or will I take the smaller option and take the 500R?

  • @LewisW97 deffo the 500r

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Wow you're quick at your replies mate! Thanks I'll take it from you! *Subbed*

  • epic modding advice...

  • £78 at cheapest and about £130 at most pricey after searching

  • If you were to put a second graphics card in, would in hit the usb3 cable?

  • @54carlje that would depend on your board

  • Does the front panel pop out like the top one?

  • This one or the 650D?

  • wobbles like jelly

  • O My God, it doesn't support a radiator !

  • Im going to buy one of these cases shortly.

But at 8.28, the case looks really cheaply built?

doesnt look strong in that scene.

    any comments?

  • should have waited for this, i hate my 650D lol

  • @JonasAndStuffDK95 i was just saying calm down bro

  • How big is that angled part to the right of the mesh of the side panel? I have some modding ideas for this case...

  • I've been wondering if i should replace my 600T(Black) with this. The distributors for Corsair in my region(Philippines) doesn't seem to care about making the mesh/windowed side panel available here and i think I need more airflow if i want to sli my 570. Also im bothered by 600T's front 200mm fan isnt a standard size i can't easily replace when it kicks the bucket. :(

  • if you don't instal optical drives, how do you install an OS?

  • @MrTkdstar external dvd or usb

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms

I have found this method to be so much faster, quieter and reliable, since a DVD can scratch and cause file read errors, etc. I've used a Kingston Data Traveler 4GB for over 100+ OS installs in a test lab environment without issue. When was the last time you actually installed an optical drive in your personal system?

  • 4x 120mm

    6x 120/140mm

    says Corsair...

    2x front 120

    2x top 120/140

    1x rear 120/140

    1x bottom 120/140

    2x side 120/140

    Where are #3 and #4 120mm?

  • You CAN place an H100 rad on the top area with two 120 mm fans below it inside the case above the mobo and the top mesh WILL click back down into place. I have tried thes and it did work. It has worked very well so far and i would highly recomend it.

  • @kingjmack95 where did you route the hoses then? I was talking about proper aftermarket rads in the review btw.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms @ 3:00 see the cutout near your fingers.

  • @generic you are right my apologies.

  • Looks nice! I recently had to build a system in a 400R, and I think these things are really good! I´m currently using a HAF 922, but it´s just too big and heavy...

  • thanks for the great video M8. See you on the next one.

  • Meh, looking at that case as nice as it is Tom, I'm glad I spent the money on my 932. Not as clean looking but it's not hurting for space. :D

  • lol I had the video open behind another window and all I heard was "HUARGH HAH"

  • LOL coffee :D

  • You were very funny today........

  • you should do a HAF X water cooled build with a 360 rad on top and a 240 in the front

  • I can see the award you gave it in the thumbnail. Haha

  • the tray is good to place your ipod touch when you charge it

  • hey do you have the Intel Core i7 2700K yet?

  • I have been mulling over cases for a fair while now, but this case ticks all the boxes, will be ordering the white version in the not too distant future :)

  • Hi Tom another great informative video, I noticed you mentioned watercooling kits in the video and after christmas is out the way I want to watercool my 2600k, I have not attempted watercooling before but I do not want to use one of the pre filled units such as the corsair h80/h100 etc I would like to use a 360mil rad and my case is the HAF X so what watercooling kit would you advise on? cheers bud

  • @TheRuiner0987 TTL doesn't like Thermaltake he Hates them :)

  • when are you going to finish your CoolerMaster ATCS 840 project! it locks till now amazing!

  • You could have the radiator sticking out in the top and replace the mesh with a metal plate for a hot-rod look :)

  • This case is a beauty!

  • I love the cheesy grin intro!

  • I can only imagine 10 years from now it will be like: "So 1080p, we meet again."

  • Are there any dust filters on the top and side panel?

  • @Chlodzenienet Not on side panel, but on the top you have some kind of dust filter 02:25 .

  • @Chlodzenienet Sorry watch from 02:52 .

  • why are there so few water cooling compatible cases out there...WHY!

  • Comment removed

  • is the case wobbling? that doesnt look sturdy at all.

  • @lenchristopher I saw that it was sheering at the top. Like twisting.

  • @lenchristopher

From 12:52 I thought the same...

  • @lenchristopher I bought this case yesterday just got it today and have everything in it. I did not notice any wobbling it's really sturdy and the feet on the bottom make sure it doesn't move. I am really happy i got this case.

  • @iAntispherexX have you tried removing the hard drive cages? I think it wobbled [in the video] because the hard drive cages were taken out.

  • @lenchristopher Yep i took the top hard drive cage out for better airflow still is solid :D like tom said the only thing i see wrong with this case is no side window option.

  • @iAntispherexX If that's the case [which is good] then there must be something wrong with Tom's case. Still, glad you cleared this up. =)

  • @lenchristopher Well i think that wobble was caused by that massive noctua o.o i'm using the cooler master hyper 212+

  • "...let the video buffer in 1080p"

Ohh shit almost forgot *click...click. Type comment while waiting.*

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Hey Tom, when are you gonna watercool a 650D?

I'd love to see how the Phobya 200mm rad fits in the front and such, you talked about doing something like this a while back.

  • @TheDjacdk Im not dude sorry

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms what happend to ORCA bro? i really wanted to see the 600t, even though i have it :P

  • Please review the armor a60

  • Hey Tom , the side panel fan , where does it get it's power from ? Is there metal. Contacts in the door which connect when door is closed ?

  • @PhatboyHD88 its just a cable. like a ordinary fan

  • man ive been waiting for this! watching it now

  • I think this is gonna be my next case . . . unless I get a good job before then.

  • I thumbsed up when I saw your face at the beginning, XDD.

  • LOL, Used to be that all cases had 80mm fans...

Then we moved to 120mm soon after, most new cases have that capacity for at least 1 140mm... :O

  • This is what I like to sEE, new TTL video every day:)

  • dremel, do want!

  • scariest. intro. ever.

  • its 140 usd Not worth it

  • hahaha been on the coffee just before this review TTL ?.

  • Mod it! Mod it! Mod it!

  • 00:48 "The 500 are." Get it?

  • What watercooling kits would you recommend for a Xigmatek Elysium, for cooling a CPU and VGA?

  • @Razargh NDH-14

  • is it just me or does the case itself seem a bit wobbly without the sidepanels fitted?

  • I'd use the top tray to put my phone in while its charging.

  • Fractal Design Arc Midi or Corsair 500R? >_<

  • @xstncd I have the same thoughts. I'd say the Fractal. I like the white on it and the water cooling capabilities. The only thing it doesn't have it a window...

  • @charlocharlieL Yeah, I was thinking about getting the Fractal. I contacted Fractal Design myself and they told me that they are working on the side window panel version but they don't know when it will be released, I am going to get the case in hopes that they distribute the side panels as an accessory like Corsair did with their 600T case.

  • I liked as soon as I saw that crazy smile!

  • 14:19 why don't you like to put fans in the bottom of your case??

  • @discy12345 they suck up all the dust from the floor and if u r a lazy f*cker like me u'd hate it

  • A very nice case. I expected nothing but awesomeness from Corsair :).

  • Didn't deserve a Gold award. I think you was compairing it to the 400R and not the rest of the market and THATS why it was given a gold.

    But thats just MHO

  • Comment removed

  • I'm curious Can I take off this front fans cutouts and use just mesh? I don't want to cut anything, just put it out. With this cutouts it is looking kinda like speaker xD

  • Don't need to let it buffer in 1080p - 40meg GOML

  • @ImPlainTalented WHAT?!?!?

    I get 2 on a good day.

  • "140 would be a bit tight in there" - That's what she said!!!!

  • The case wiggles quite alot O.o My Shinobi doesn't wiggle at all

  • Tom drank too much coffee again... its why we love him 8D

  • Comment removed

  • Tom did you just get laid?

  • @TheQhozt I think he had the Asus Rampage IV Extreme somewhere in the background ;)

  • Gold to a case that E-ATX boards doesn't go!!!

    fail review to me

  • Comment removed

  • @tabby051 i agree with you a bit, but u have to agree that linus is stil way better than 3d Gameman, who just reads the information from the box. TOM you are the best!!!

  • @jakuba8 Yeah, can't agree more

  • @tabby051 IMO Linus doesn't really review the items, he just unbox them :)

  • @TheQhozt He used to...that's why I prefer Tom's reviews, they're honest, to the point and so helpful :)

  • @tabby051 You know why I preffer Linus? Cause he speaks quicker and I know everything about case in 10 minutes, no 20 : P

  • @tabby051 You are right TTL does the best review, but Linus just unboxs the items and sometimes benchmarks, he doesn't review anything.

  • @microTerminator2 ok ok a lot of you have said this, fair enough but I just like the fact that Tom just shares a lot of info about the case and what you could do or put in the case :)

  • @tabby051 Yup, no doubt about that, thats why hes the best tech channel.

  • @tabby051 Agreed. I also think that Linus is a fanboy of Corsair, so whenever I see a review of a corsair product, I don't bother watching it cause i know he's gonna say its good.

  • @tabby051 Does Linus even DO reviews any more? All I ever see is videos of him unboxing stuff and reading the box.

  • @tabby051

That's because 90% of his videos are UNBOXINGs... when he does a review he actually tries the product out.. just look at his benchmarks.

    God you're dumb

  • @tabby051 Linus unboxes, oc3d reviews. You need to settle down. If you want to butt hurt someone for bad reviews go after 3dgameman

  • @tabby051 linus does unboxings not reviews... anyway u can't beat TTL in this area

  • @tabby051 He does unboxings and overviews.

  • @tabby051 Linus doesn't do reviews, he gives first impressions, there's a lot of unnecessary criticism up in there because he's not even labeling them as reviews, what he sees is what he says, and when there is something bad within a case which requires testing to discover, he's not oblig
