I don't know what her stack size is but she is getting good pot odds. When the commentator says she's got 3 to 1, it means that she's paid three times the amount she has to put in the pot to call (roughly 3k in a 9k pot). It also means that she has to win once every three games she plays in that situation to make profit off this play.

@atshujies As Yonk said, there is nothing wrong with her call. It was her opening raise that was the problem. And when you're short stacked this late into the tournament, you can't afford to just fold in that spot and wait for a better hand. The blinds will suck you dry. She pretty much had to call at that point and she was getting the right odds to call given the likely range (if she knew Devilfish had AA or A7+ then she wouldn't have odds, but those are the only hands that dominate hers)
@stinky472 She has correct pot odds to call with the range you mention. While other factors are relevant in tournament situations, it most likely is a good call (if the pre-flop raise is any indication of her skill level).

As long as it's A6-A9 as you can't make a straight using the two cards, unless four cards fall around it like in this clip. I went all in on a bluff with A6 once with 2 weak players in the blinds yet to act, but the guy on the Big Blind had AA, and yes I got busted.
Just goes to show you the difference between the US and UK, in the UK they respect assholes and sore losers while in the US we respect gentlemen and good sports like Doyle Brunson.

I take your point and agree, in the normal chain of events, that would be right. But often, the people who make the millions are those who tend to go with their gut feelings occasionally.
I get the occasional gut-feeling. Not that often but when I do, I usually win. Not often enough unfortunately!

When you raise someone, you base it on both the evidence of the hand but when you think he is bluffing, it is a gut feeling that makes you call. I think we are probably calling the same thing by different names?

@artrca1000 True but if Poker came down to mathematics only, then computers would make the best poker players. There's still the element of psychology and feeling, though certainly one should not play pocket 3s like you suggested because of a 'gut feeling', but it's hard to rely on pure statistics to determine whether or not to call in a tricky post-flop situation, especially with a limited hand history.

The things is that there are a lot of statistics in poker that aren't accounted for, particularly with respect to hand range polarization given the villain's actions. The problem I've seen with most poker AIs is that they tend to play as though the villain could have any two cards.

As long as it's A6-A9 as you can't make a straight using the two cards, unless four cards fall around it like in this clip. I went all in on a bluff with A6 once with 2 weak players in the blinds yet to act, but the guy on the Big Blind had AA, and yes I got busted.
