@custombrainwave geee I'm sick of hearing about bieber bleargh! I didn't know that crux's used to play in the UK. My boyfriend is living in York now, that's why I asked you, it would be easier for me to see them live. I doubt they will ever come to Portugal (where I live) :(
OMFG that was awesome! And the video was great! Was that an official vid or a homage by a fan? If it's the latter then congratualtions - you did the Cruxshadows proud. If I'm out clubbing on my birthday - I want that song played!!!! :-D x x x
This is such a beautiful song with a good video for it :) I never truly gave Cruxshadows a chance until now. Im going to have to check out the rest of their stuff when i get the chance.
It sums up an Atheist perspective on life Beautifully.
I dont know if the Cruxshadows are religous or not but they just made a powerful Atheistic song here. (Or at least one that demonstrates a good Atheistic point)
Jesus said that if you don't feed the hungry or give to the needy, then its just like giving him nothing to.
Just because people believe that they can live forever in the spirit, doesn't mean they don't care about how they effect those around them. Someone true to the faith would care very much about anyone that they see, whether they are evil or good or whatever.
see most religions think that they will get a second chance of some form, but i dont right?
i live this life to its fullest, taking in the fun and joy or pain and suffering that goes along with things. When i tell my girlfriend i love her, i really mean it because ill never get a second chance.
She is a Christian though, but a Moderate so it doesnt bother me much.
So why am i moral? well how does an atheist define moral? this is also touched upon in this song
I define morality as minimizing suffering. I have no morals about kicking cars because it cant suffer, but i do care about the life on Earth for the very same reason, beacause they CAN.
P.S. some think because im altruistic that im religious, others 'cause im goth, (my neo-romatisicm comes in science though, in all ways its larger and more spontaneous than the mere supernatural and if there is a magical force that nullifies the natural world, than i guess my Adv. Physics degree is a waste huh?) both are very wierd reasons for thinking so. Off topic i know but im Just saying.
Im curious now, Would you say that you are a "good" person?
I believe in reincarnation, but that's no excuse to not live the best life you can live. Because if there is no reincarnation, you have this once chance to live your life right - but why wouldn't you, even if you can come back to earth to try again? I've never done a good deed that wasn't returned to me somehow, and not just that, doing good things for people can honestly make you feel shockingly good about yourself. But even so...it's just the right thing to do.
Being virtuous just because is far better than being virtuous out of fear.
I am not a Christian. I am a pagan. But nevertheless I try to do kind things and help others. Christianity is largely a religion built on fear, and as no one can truly understand the mind of the infinite, it is certainly not the only valid religion on the planet. If you look at it this way, all religions are valid - and none are. Religion is simply a way for the finite to attempt to define the infinite.
but what you just said souded more like a deist than a traditionally religious person.
i semi-agree with you, i chose to understand the infinite thru science/skepticism (and were getting close: check out "the elegant universe" on youtube).
While I do regard myself as religious, I also consider myself to be very openminded. I classify myself as an eclectic pagan, which is to say that my beliefs are primarily pagan in nature but also comprise ideology from other spiritual systems, such as Buddhism, the Vedas, Native American spirituality, the Tao, etc. My beliefs are simply my own interpretation of divinity, and I completely acknowledge that they could be innaccurate, as could anyone's - thereby making them more ideas than beliefs.
While I agree with you partially, Buradorii2, you don't have to be a Christian to want to care for others. I'm pagan, and I honestly try my best to be kind to and to serve others - I'm good to my friends and loyal and truthful, I strive to perform good deeds and works of charity, etc. You don't have to be a Christian, or indeed of any faith at all, to be a good person.
I am an atheist and I have specifically chosen my career to be something that is worthwhile and helps others (A nurse). I don't think that your religion gives you grounds to say that you are better than anyone or to justify your actions.
Doing good deeds and generally being a good person is, in my opinion, expected of everyone........regardless.
Plus....I know a lot of Christians who are egotistical, materialistic and NOT very nice people at all. So, your faith does not determine who you are.
Coïncidentally me too I'm an also atheïstic (male) nurse (in psychiatry). I agree with you completely. For all believers I have this question: would your God prefer you to say you believe in him and at the same time destroy his creation and what's living on it, or would he prefer you to not believe and to take care, not because you have to, but because you're convinced that the world is a better place if you do so?
I agree, although a true Christian is full of love and caring, sometimes ppl just lable themselves as whatever they want and do whatever they want not giving their title due justice
I also like the idea of like, the story being a roadtrip of friends who learn alot of shit along the way. But its not very original lmao maybe make em runaways or people from the dirt filth of america learning to not be so damn depressed and trying to change the world instead of blame the world.
I just wanna take the parts with random pictures or crux live & put in clips of things that happen in life: issues, joys, love, sorrow, happiness, anger, imagination, frustration, people having fun, crying, laughing... LIVING. At the money and fame part a spoof of like, paris hilton or something more creative & some inspirational stuff, like a story of some sort. Id love to colab with you if you're interested :) (I like the uncut song though lol) I LOVE the beginning & end of this vid SO much!
Most of you are expecting that this is the part where I comment on the video.
Let me tell a story about a beautiful gypsy woman whom I loved with all my dieing heart.
Her name was Kimi.
Few knew how much we loved one anouther. I promised I'd reach into the void to save her if she died. She killed herself without asking me first to this very song.
Now I am alone... we miss her dearly. Rest In Peace Kimberly Lynn Swick for you were the fairest, and kindest of us all......
Wow, that's a really really awesome video! I like the part where the guy took a picture of himself everyday for a long time- and the dialog before the song. Very well done. Makes the song even more powerful
I agree. It makes me sad too cuz I have some things I want to do before I die and what if I never forfill my dream.., but it's a great song and video.
very good video, today is a good friend of mine's birthday and I wanted to send her something special..I had checked out the official video, but thought that this one was more better for her for this day. thank you
Well if I was about to die I would do some deplorable and horrible things. So rest assured I would lose my drive if I had a lifetime to live. And the world IS a better place because of that. But yeah the music is good.
You saw them live in York or New York?

But why would this song affect me so profoundly?

So we are both good for largely the same reasons? altruistic love for them?
but im still hellbound right? "Good works are not enough" "obedience is required" "vote republican or its a flame bath for you"?
...or did you mean you are good to suck up to jesus? i dont think you ment so, but your words could be interperated as such.
The reasons behind virtue are just as important as the virtues themselves.
