@whitelon I'm not totally sure, but i think it is because he didn't want to run on the pavement and dull his spikes... Because there was a little patch of pavement where he jumped.
Why would you ever in any circumstance jog in a race? Being the nation's best runner is no excuse for poor sportsmanship. Every runner is taught from day one to never look back and to run his/her own race.
@neshyba2 all he wanted was to get first. he didn't care what his time was. the only reason people sprint at the end is because someone is near them. i have never seen a race where someone who is way in front actually try hard at the end unless they are trying to get a record time.
how is looking back bad sportsmanship? we learn not to look back because it slows us down slightly, not because it makes us look bad.
the guy that was leading at first in the blue would be more efficient if he kept his arms a bit more controlled, you waste energy when ur flapping around like that
@TheRunningLife LOL that's Zach Wills from Ohio, going to Oklahoma State. He was better than Lukas when he was a soph and lukas was a freshmen but mono really fucked him up, hasn't been as good since.
Even as a former quarter-miler I appreciate his speed. Very impressive. I hope he doesn't get lazy with his training as everything seems to be so easy for him.
@megabrolawncare practice is your performance, why run hard during the meets when you can do both and drop it down to sub 16, besides xc meets are just glorified practices
@mrfoston2 ok I know? Thanks for telling me I guess.... "he may race on the the track" he will be racing on the track at least once for the Adidas Dream Mile.
Description is wrong. Lukas is the 3rd boy to repeat as champion not 2nd. Abdirizak Mohamud (1996 and 1997) and Dathan Ritzenhein (1999 and 2000) also won twice.
Is it just me or does Lukas look like he's fore foot striking?

Lukas's stride is amazing.
but the way he finished, and how he looked back every 30 seconds, shows his horrible lack of sportsmanship. cocky little bastard.

@neshyba2 No that is because he wanted to see if the other guy was kicking and whether he could jog in or not
