@MrBladeCrash It depends. If you're flying over a congested area (like a group of houses), then you have to be 1000' AGL. If it's not over a congested area, then you have to fly no shorter than 500' from any person, vessel, or structure. Beside from that, you can fly as low as you want; that is with-in reason/logic. Although if it's a wild life refuge, you can fly no lower than 2,000' AGL.
@N137LA The most enjoyable flight of my life was in a 152 with a friend who was a retired military and commercial pilot. We spent about 30 minutes buzzing islands on a big lake. We were loafing along at 1000' ft and when we came to the edge of the lake he said "Hold on!" and there we went to the deck. It wasn't real fast, but it was definitely a lot of fun.
Titan t51? Seems to small for a p51 and the panel is different from any other I've seen. Not to mention I've only seen one p51 converted to a 2 seater. And the pilot is sitting pretty high in that cockpit.
@racerox1 No its a regular P-51D Mustang. Its name is "Ridge Runner III" go look it up. My grandpa is just a short guy so he has the seat pretty high up. And also just about every "D" model mustang is converted to have 2 seats.
I get chills everytime I hear this plane do a fly by. The single most epic sound of the planet. The only thing that comes close is a Mercedes McLaren (the shiny silver one).
@TalTxD "used to be" being the key words there, we got someone who owns his own spitfire next to us at Biggin Hill, theres plenty of Civilian owned Hawker Hunters and Jet provosts around the UK too. You just need lots of cash if you want one!
and lets say you can afford one and you bought one.
you can park it in your own garden and make a short runway and just take off when you want like in the movies?
because in Israel . if you own a plane , you can park it only in the airports (and you pay for every day) , and if you want to take a fly you have to wait for permission and the airport have to match the time with the air force , but that's because Israel is small and the air traffic is kinda full.
I love this! I was lucky enough to ride in Bob Love's Livermore based white Mustang TWICE in one day in 1982, long before video cameras. Your video shows the way it is! We went to Air Nostalgia in Stockton. On the way home, he took off fast and held it low toward the A. N. hangar, pulled up and wrapped the plane around that checkered water tower. Awesome!!! 2 things I noted...the wings look too short from inside the plane and the engine sounded like an old flathead V-8 just barely above idle.
nice to see someone taking one of these old girls down on the deck for some fun stuff. takes balls though. no way of saving her if something goes wrong.
That's hilarious, it's the best one I've heard yet! What a ride it was. He lifted the left wing and I knew something was going to happen instead of just heading back to the field, I just didn't know it was this. There's another on YouTube of another Dan Martin passenger doing another canyon in the area, but I think I got the better ride.
This is by far, the best "lima lima" (low level) mustang footage I have ever seen. Yes, the pilot has a lot of guts and obviously a lot of proficiency. Great video.
Hollister has so many warbirds now! Warbird Alley. Is this Straw Boss? I got to fly on Ridge Runner III with Dan and that was a trip I will never forget.
I didn't get nearly that much underware...I did get a ride in a Steerman at the fathers day fly in at columbia airport (O22)....that is a manly way to fly..open air in a wood and cloth machine.
You must have a lovely lady my friend! I tried to get a ride in a P51 this year at Lelystad Airport here in Holland. But I got a bit reluctant when I heard for 20 min. 1100 euro's that about 1700 dollars I think. Still a must do for me but not for my wallet unfortunately ;-)
its a remarkable fying...

@TalTxD All ex military planes go under the "warbirds" category. You could even own jet fighters, if you could afford it.

thanks! what a beautiful aircraft.. especially when running a merlin for those high altitudes!! :P

that is pretty dangerous but I guess the P-51 has enough power to pull itself out of downdrafts and stuff caused by the mountains.

The P-51 Mustang is God's Testicles stuffed into a metal body.
Downdrafts just give it a hard-on.
