Excuse me, but the version of Sarah Brightman is very bad in this video. In other videos her voice is mutch better (i've to say sorry for my English). Paul potts is indeed an amateur, he can't sing opera and he isn't an opera singer. The is made for Bocelli and Brightman and that's why it sounds mutch better when Bocelli it sings. In fact this song isn't the right exemple to compare Paul potts and Sarah & Andrea. Take Nessun Dorma or something, That isn't made for Paul or Andrea.

Very imaginative, the way u used sepia antiqued techniques...brings me back as if i were in an opera gallery, steeping back in time...what a blessing to see...and what amazing voices to hear. Way too much overlapping at the end, it did not sound so good! Potts is an amateur compared to Bocelli and Brightman, it sounds like he's trying too hard. Paul has the potential to be the next Pavarotti but he needs some improvements.

Potts is good but it is unfair to compare him with the angelcal voice of Brightman or the deep voice of Bocelli.. Total injustice.. He's lost in the middle & sounds insignificant
since I was a young boy i love Andrea bocelli, so i think it's impossible to campare those 3 unic voices, theis's voices are magic, put me in another and magical world

Domingo does have upper register issues to that I would agree. You want voice, real voice..check out Franco Corelli a legend. The quality of the video isn't the best, so many of Sarah's higher notes are lost. In my opinion, there is no contest. Brightman and Bocelli are the originals, and the best.
I agree. I don't know why everyone thinks he's so great...someone adds some vibrato to their voice and the public thinks you're an opera singer. Same thing goes for Charlotte Church.
When I listened to Paul Potts rendition of this, I was struck by how much better he hit the higher notes than Andrea Bocelli (who's voice gets 'reedy' on the high notes). Not that I'm disrespecting Bocelli, I'm just incredibly impressed and moved by Potts!

xsnizzi u are wrong. Even if Bocelli sang this years ago pavaroti sang them before him, so u cant say Paul Potts isnt original. Paul Potts and Bocelli have different voices so he cant be copying.
Thanks for the post - great job. To appreciate how good Paul is, you will have to consider how many years of practice these guys [ Pavarotti, Bocelli etc] have put in.
First of all, I would have to say that for being a mobile salesman, his voice is excellent, and secondly, anyone who comments otherwise is probably just jealous. Thirdly, he did this at competition and therefore, would most likely not have had time to make the song original to him. (Plus, it looks as if everything was tape accompaniment anyway.) And besides, everyone has copied something someone else has done at one point and time anyway.
I never like opera in my whole life until I hear the wonderful voice from Paul, just don't know why every time I listen the singing from Paul, all my emotion will come our, like joyful , saddens or happiness,etc. So overwhelming and he is just an increditable human being.

hotpussycat74. Boccelli wasnt the first man to sing this. It dates back years. I have very old recordings of male Opera singers and at least one of them sings this.
The real reason the Boccelli /Brightman version was so successful (apart from it being beautiful) was, it was played in numerous Music stores, and was sold from these stores. Shopping centres were blasted with it day in and day out. That song sold the whole Album!!
Brightman was a friend of an iconic German boxer named Henry Maske and she asked Bocelli to perform Con te Partiro (I'll go with you) with her at Maske's final match after she heard him sing it at a restaurant. They changed that title lyric to 'Time to Say Goodbye' and that's the song that was playing when Maske lost and left boxing. It went to the top of the German charts the next day and the rest is history. Wikipedia fools!!

Potts is great if you like an untrained, often off key, mediocre voice. And it's not about whether I or any other critic can do better, it's about how he stacks up against the best and he falls far short.

I have to agree. I love them both, Paul and Andrea, but cutting one out completely, who is as established as Bocelli is, is not yet justified, neither does it give the comparison between the two male singers.
sarah's voice its not weak, it's powerful but clear as crystal! if she was weak, she would not be heard while they're singing both together and also i think professionals know what they are doing :) XXX love you both sarah and bocelli! keep amazing us!
may i point out that she's using a microphone, they could easily just turn up the volume (and probably do) her voice isn't particularly powerful at all!
Sara is amazing, powerful beautiful voice. Paul is great but still not as good as Bocelli, he will get there tough! WIth some more practice as a professional he will be even better then Bocelli.

It should not be titled as 'vs' but as 'with instead. These great individuals does not come in many, so they are here for us, why compare when we can enjoy their gifts for all of us.
It doesn't matter about who they are or how long they've been singing for, they're all amazing and they sing the song with equally the same amount of passion and talent.
By surfing on the net tonight, I did find Brit. tallents - and I did surf on to listen more to this silver crystal clear voice, i salute you Paul Potts. Today i heard your voice for the first time, and it gone be many more times... ;-)

She debuted as a dancer in troupes such as Hot Gossip and later released a string of disco singles. She achieved greater fame as a musical theatre performer and partner of theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
If you want to sample her "talent" search for "Hot Gossip and Sarah Brightman - Starship Trooper" and then tell me again that she is a great opera singer

xsnizzi u are wrong. Even if Bocelli sang this years ago pavaroti sang them before him, so u cant say Paul Potts isnt original. Paul Potts and Bocelli have different voices so he cant be copying.

First of all, I would have to say that for being a mobile salesman, his voice is excellent, and secondly, anyone who comments otherwise is probably just jealous. Thirdly, he did this at competition and therefore, would most likely not have had time to make the song original to him. (Plus, it looks as if everything was tape accompaniment anyway.) And besides, everyone has copied something someone else has done at one point and time anyway.

I never like opera in my whole life until I hear the wonderful voice from Paul, just don't know why every time I listen the singing from Paul, all my emotion will come our, like joyful , saddens or happiness,etc. So overwhelming and he is just an increditable human being.

hotpussycat74. Boccelli wasnt the first man to sing this. It dates back years. I have very old recordings of male Opera singers and at least one of them sings this.
The real reason the Boccelli /Brightman version was so successful (apart from it being beautiful) was, it was played in numerous Music stores, and was sold from these stores. Shopping centres were blasted with it day in and day out. That song sold the whole Album!!

Brightman was a friend of an iconic German boxer named Henry Maske and she asked Bocelli to perform Con te Partiro (I'll go with you) with her at Maske's final match after she heard him sing it at a restaurant. They changed that title lyric to 'Time to Say Goodbye' and that's the song that was playing when Maske lost and left boxing. It went to the top of the German charts the next day and the rest is history. Wikipedia fools!!

unfortunately sarah will always have haunting her the idea some critics think that originally she was just an extra who didn't really make an impression with her talent to andrew webber except maybe to sleep with her, then he gave her a major part. some feel it could have been any other girl. i've liked her though in phantom.

It is not on da same stage, its called computer graphics.
One is "Britain's got talent" stage and the other stage is Bocelli and Brightman's stage.

Brightman never did study music. She attended the Arts Educational boarding school for jazz and acting. She debuted as a dancer in troupes such as Hot Gossip and later released a string of disco singles. She achieved greater fame as a musical theatre performer and partner of theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I have nothing against Paul Potts, Sarah or Bocelly, they sing quite OK and they bring classical music to a wider mass. What I can't stand are people, who have not got a clue about the real work that goes into becoming a top opera singer, suddenly give judgement and say that any of the above is better then the real stars that have worked hard for it.
