Nice videos - but- UTTER B.S.! Anybody who's played a reed or has spent any time studying jazz realizes that Benny Goodman was far superior to the earlier players, regardless of color. Certainly the black musicians got a raw deal, to put it mildly, but to try to tell people that white musicians were naturally incapable of playing good jazz is a pure lie.
We need accurate and truthful history, not propaganda. Stop preaching and tell the WHOLE truth.
There's too much inaccuracy and simplicity in this narrative. Be careful not to take it seriously. Instead, get Ken Burn's "Jazz" from his PBS series.
Very interesting. But I could do without some of the narrator's ill-conceived comments and mispronunciations, though, i.e. "Ella Fitzgerald, who would become one of jazz's biggest stars, in spite of her more or less commercial style," and "Jimmy Lun-sa-ford."
also: "...white clarinet player Benny Goodman...although he didn't offer anything different from other similar groups such as the Dorsey Brothers...." "Barney Bigert" (!) Why dis' Benny Goodman's playing, you kidding me? Sheesh. I mean, we all have our preferences and favorites, but COME ON.
"Sho Siner's Drag," "Minleberg Joys." "BOOBIE WOOGIE STOMP" (!!), "Across the Tracke Blues," "Rose Rom," "His Eye Is on the Sparroz," "AHMEL ERTEGUM" (!!) I guess English is a second or third language to the folks who put this together. Again--nice editing--NOT!

Très intéressant ! Un hommage au JAZZ, le vrai, alors que tant de musiques s'y réfèrent actuellement ...
