Online: I'm not too sure but I think you could change it by going on player options in the multiplayer menu.....

offline only allows 4 player max...so dividing the entire tv into 4 parts definitely suck but u can play the multiplayer missions on your own, there is elimination, territory defend, helicopter hunt and a wide variety of weapons..ohh yea the suckiest part about offline multi is that when u play with a friend, the game becomes first person...
