  • Gorgeous beautiful stuff.

  • Much loved, must missed. Fabulous performance . xx

  • i have a boner

  • None of us really are in a position to comment........we are not worthy........he was and is a blessed soul and has already moved on to greater glory leaving behind the creative genuis of his music. God works in mysterious ways.

  • Considering his health status when performing this song, it's hard to believe how awesome he is!

  • R.I.P. Thanks for the tunes!

  • Just an amazing and gifted guitarist. It is a shame we lost him.

  • the man shaped my life

  • amazing version of an already amazing song. i dont even know how to describe this, just brilliant.

  • I dont Know What 2 say,Totally Mez mer izzed..

  • R.I.P thank you for all the joy you brought into our lives...

  • MUSICIAN.. Nowadays all you need is a set of tits, an arrest record or admitting you are gay to get you into the "most popular" bracket.. If you want to be famous today, kill more than the last guy.. Fucking disgusting..

  • brilliant

  • just wow.....just wow

  • I met him in the English market in Cork, not long before he died. He was on his own and of course in his chair. He was very friendly and polite.I asked him about new stuff and he told me he was working on lots of things, being very productive. I hope that this new stuff sees the light of day.................

  • Still love him, still miss him....

  • I want to thank Dave from Luton for teaching me this song 1985 in Marseille.

  • @theamazing39 really nice comment :)

  • He truly was "A Well Kept Secret", but that's the way he wanted it. Got to admire him for that because so many others have taken that "cigar" when it was offered.

    Thanks for the video (-:

  • that music is still missed , nobody can even try to compare to him . Hope Willing to work , gets released through the website soon , cheers for the upload

  • I heard it once and know it was the truth.

  • one of the best singers/musicians of all time! Love this guys music.

  • does this pull the heart strings or what

  • they should build a statue made of gold in honour of this great man!

  • the best

  • not looking his best but still plays like an angel

  • Shockingly, I never heard much John Martyn, but this is amazing! :-)

  • The man is bringing tears to my eyes. A cactus amongst the desert of the throng. Wherever you are, may you never....

  • pure beauty at the highest in human terms, this should be a global national anthem, elevating, a masters legacy,

  • so great !

  • that's soul

  • 3.33 secs> the way he sings the word "hard"...his voice is so gorgeous here...sounds like a sweet sweet sax...

    So beautiful...

  • Most lovely version!

  • The master ,Faithless.well loved ,RIP John

  • I was at this gig in Leeds. At the end I felt both happy and sad, John obviously loved his music and performing and seemed to be really in good humour. But at the same time I left sad because he was obviously exhausted and I didn't think he would be around much longer. Felt so sad when he died, he was much underrated because he was not always commercial - RIP John.

  • what a beautiful performance!

  • Lovely version. Johns voice reminds me of Terry Callier (? not sure if thats the right spelling).

  • I bought John's first two albums and his last two...I've got a lot of catching up to do in between! I'm saturating myself with these You Tube clips.

Read his biography as well........John, John from the Hanging Lamp Folk Club to The Mean Fiddler.....thanks mate!

  • I really like this version. The original is superior in my opinion, but this is lovely. RIP John. Thank you for everything that you have left behind. Thank you so much.

  • ..i feel like i lost my best friend..pure beauty..rest in peace x o

  • Anyone implying you can't have a respect for music as varied as Rammstein to John Martyn has never actually grasped what music is all about, and I say that as a professional musician and live sound engineer of 14 years very serious experience.

I felt like someone turned a light on and my world became a little brighter when I discovered this man's truely heartfelt music. Yesterday was a very sad day but thanks to him the musical world is a better one. May he Rest In Peace. :-(

  • Ditto - thanks for the music John - I too feel my life would never have been the same without it

    xx

  • John's music has changed my life for the better.

The world is richer for having known him.

  • and R.I.P John, much love

  • My hero ...R.I.P. bud ...

    ..

  • It's a sad day. I'm gutted.

  • can't stop crying ....love his music ...he was the one who helped ,me play Guitar ....opened my mind .....i miss you bud ...

    ..

  • RIP John

  • Why bother saying shit like that?

just say nothing if you have nothing nice to say, idiot.

  • because I'm entitled to my opinion. I love John Martyns music, not all of it, but most of it, I'm just expressing my opinion of his later live shows and recordings, which are at times, pretty terrible!

  • Yeah, that was a bit wrong, I probably meant to say he was probably heavily influenced/brainwashed by phil collins in the 80s. Although you do have ramnstein amongst your favorite videos, so I don't really think you are entitled to have an opinion on John Martyn to be honest.

  • Crikey - I didn't realise I wasn't allowed to love the music of John Martyn AND Rammstein. Is that not permitted, russ? Really sorry and all that......

  • Perhaps it's just as well that Nick Drake died at such an early age. He'll always be tall...and thin. "Root Love" is a good song by Mr. Martyn, too.

  • Slim boy fat, in fact. But still a genius,

    One of the greats.

  • Fat.

  • And there's a short, simple word for you, too - c*nt.

  • Find the reworked version of 'Another way to cry' I think it's on Sweet little mysteries, but can be found on ITunes. Every time I listen it overwhelms me. I saw him a few times in the 70s, over here in California he is not well know and I take great pleasure in turning people on to him.

  • Sorry, it's called simply "Ways to cry" from 'Classics".

  • Going to see him in Dublin in two weeks time. Can't wait.

  • i love this man.... My absolute favourite

  • There isn't a person on the planet who's voice hits me deeper than his. Many thanks for posting.

  • I know. It's real soul, blues, whatever the label it's a truly beautiful thing.

  • Thanks for posting. Nice to see John's still gigging. Been listening to him since '87. My absolute favourite of all time.

  • I first saw him in 1980 and he's been just as brilliant every time since.

  • I wasn't even born in 1980 but I think this guy is fantastic.

  • More feeling than anyone , and I'm a Clash fan..

  • I totally get that. Because whether it's Strummer or JM, it's all in the blood and soul. Cheers, Mike

  • The man's a legend.

  • No argument there :o)
