wow would you lookit that, cartoons at 6:30 pm! and not just cartoons, but a whole fucking CARTOON EXPRESS!! at 6:30 in the evening!! Tv is so boring at 6:30 pm i wish they at least had one freakin cartoon show somewhere! well yeah they got cartoon network but those old cartoons
We've not only lost great shows since I was a kid, but we've gained more crap than ever before. I loved coming home from school and watching USA Cartoon Express, Voltron, and more. On Saturdays it was all about sugar cereal, and watching 5 hours of cartoons. Now it's lame talk shows, reality tv, and commercials. I bought the Jetsons, and it runs 24 mins per epi. Play it today and it's hacked to 20 minutes. 4 minutes of commercials gained in 40 years of TV. I lived the 80s, and loved it!
@zangazoo2007 You're 100% correct. I got out of school by 2PM, and had various cartoons to watch on other channels til 5PM. There was Tom & Jerry(including Droopy & Barney Bear), Woody Woodpecker(including Chilly Willy), Pink Panther(including The Inspector), and well as those misc. MGM toons( ex: House of Tomorrow). And, of course The Cartoon Express. Saturday mornings with a big bowl of cereal was a tradition. The Cartoon Network and Boomerang used to be great, but now they kinda suck.
@maccafan1974 CN and Boom are a joke. They got away from those great shows you mentioned. For a while they were running the original Voltron at 4am, and that was awesome. Even running the great Popeye in regular rotation. Heck I remember in the early 90s when TNT came about and they were running Looney Tunes from 5pm to 7pm. The great thing is that most all of these great cartoons are now on DVD. I have the Pink Pather's entire collection, The Inspector (need Ant and Aardvark), and more!
But by then its glory days were long gone. Cartoon Network had been on the air since 1992 (since October 3, 1994 in my hometown), and when CN was created that was the downfall of the USA Express we knew and loved.
I used to go nuts when I couldn't find the USA Cartoon Express I kept telling my friends and family it did exist. Because that damn in a minute stuck in my head for years and years lol. I wish they'd bring it back my nieces and nephews would love it.
WTF happened to USA?!! It used to be such a fun network! They used to have something for everyone. Now it's best to stand clear of USA if you ain't fond of self-absorbed, depressed doctors or people investigating sex crimes.
I used to watch USA DJ not only for the cartoons and WWE but also for the game show like NAME THAT TUNES, NAME THAT MUSIC, PRESS YOUR LUCK & TIC TAC DOUGH & USA UP ALL NIGHT. I hopes that the rumor is true that the NHL is moving to the USA network.
Ah, the USA Cartoon Express...always appointment TV for me before school as a kid in the mid-80s, and a great place to see some of the more short-lived shows (Space Kidettes, Samson and Goliath, the Roman Holidays, Inch High Private Eye, Monchichis, Trollkins, etc.) and classics (Speed Buggy, Scooby-Doo, Laff-a-Lympics, various 70s incarnations of the Flintstones, as well as spin-off series The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show) alike. And you gotta love the animated open/close/bumpers they used!
oh my god i feel so old wehn isee stuff like this. i miss those good old days where cartoons were cool to watch. todays are good but the 80's had GI JOE and THUNDERCATS. VOLTRON and the the rest were good.
This is when the USA Network used to be so fun. x)

They decided to get rid of all children's programming, that's what happened to them. And in my book, that was a big mistake on their part.

Not only that DJ but NBC took over. If it wasn't for WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW I wouldn't even watch USA.

Apparently, the USA Cartoon Express started off as what appeared to be pre-2000 Cartoon Network before there even WAS a Cartoon Network.
