The purpose of mentioning the Yamaha piano wasn't really for advertising. The Steinway has always been the standard, but a lot musicians are liking the new Yamaha. I could really care less about Yamaha sales.
Alright, I'll see if I can find the redhead violinist (lol). I think she contributes to the feel of the piece for the string section. She was given a bouquet, along with Garrick Ohlsson at his performance of Chopin's 1st concerto. There's a real art to giving the right variations in dynamic levels to make this piece sound best.
@robertslistening As I said, check the performance of the Concerto played by Tysman e.g. where that redhead plays. She also played in Geniusas' performance and most likely a few more.
I think Helene Tysman got distinction in this, but never won, right. Tysman won the Dartstadt Chopin competition. This is the Warsaw Chopin competition. Correct.
@robertslistening Not sure what you're talking about but your original question was where the red-haired 1st violinist is in this performance. Check other performances of the Chopin Concerto from THIS competition and you'll find her :)
Yamaha website - The 9' CFX full concert grand, which replaces Yamaha's acclaimed CFIIIS concert grand piano, was launched in January 2010... the instrument represents 19 years of research and development... The process culminated with a series of top-secret, in-depth evaluation sessions conducted in New York, Paris and Tokyo with top artists and Yamaha artist services over the last few years.
Apparently Yamaha is outdoing Steinway. Look at the piano she's playing..
wow i was amazed by her touch, it's wonderful. however, i feel like she plays this more as a solo piece that as a concerto with an orchestra. sometimes, she likes to mess with the tempo a little bit which (in my opinion) is just fine in solo, but makes it harder for the orchestra in a concerto.
Yulianna Avdeeva… un ejemplo que dignifica y justifica el estar vivo. Si el mundo entendiera su mensaje no existiría la miseria, no la violencia, no el miedo, no el crimen… Gracias mil.
I really do like her interpretation; it is very interesting and has great emotion and other things that are from pure talent. And I'm not saying she shouldn't have won, but I just don't think that Chopin would have played it like that.
The most memorable things about Yulliana: her custom-fit suit whose jacket features tapered sleeves! Her frilly blouse! Her huge widely spaced eyes enhanced by a dark coat of eye liner/shadow! She looks more like a businesswoman than a pianist. The most memorable things about Ingolf: his frequent mouth gaping dazed stare into space while playing.
This is a most wonderful pre-Halloween surprise this month! Thank you all for uploading. Ingolf is great too. His technique makes for some exciting Chopin, even if he lacks the rhythmic and dynamic understanding that Yulliana has. Yes, it's surprising how well she was able to pull off Sonata #2. She has a style where she always sacrifices pace for interpretation. As a result her performances always sound reflective and not so exciting, I suppose. Is she doing this to hide lack of technique? idk
Good ideas, but interrupts the rhythm and pace of the piece too much. She certainly takes her time and tries to expand the piece as far as it can be stretched.
It is impossible for me to watch and listen to her performance without tears.
It is so touching.

Her interpretation of Chopin's Sonata in b flat minor is just the best I've ever heard.

Chopin's music shows how an artist controls dynamics... She has a good feeling for music that makes me zone out.
Every time I play this video I can't help it to not pause and listen to some parts 2wice so I can watch her expressions.
Superior playing, full of feelings! simply LOVE HER

Returned from her concert in Prague spring festival.
That night Yuliana’s performance was also magnificent especially the Mazurka that reminded me of the Polish native energetic rhythm
of the dancing and like this concerto her Rubato is ingenious as if she has her own interpretation and story in every tunes.

I like the way she looked up the conductor and returned to her piano to enter to the concerto with her first strong touch. Excellent.

@formerlyaskeptic1: true. she is certainly not Gilels, who takes about the same tempi except for the agitato of the recap.

The sonata was superb!

I love her mistakes! She is human... and everyone plays wrong notes!
I find her interpretations unique, with a real sensibility, power and emotional adventure.
After days watching the videos of all of the finalist, my humble opinion is that she is, by far, the most interesting and refreshing artists of all.
Her playing is also crisp, alive, heroic and ethereal when needed. I am looking forward for her next 10 years. Congratulations to Yulianna.
