In 2 weeks I will recieve the letter informing me whether I have passed selection for commisioned service as an Eng O in the RAF. Never been so nervous in my whole life. Nice video.
That's really nice video. Royal Air Force presents proudly Like every other Air Force in the World! I always say that pilots have the BEST job in whole world!:)
btw. does anyone know what is the song title?? thanks
He/She obviously doesnt , i am still at school ( Year 9 ) and i know for sure that F-35's are suprerior to Harriers in speed , maneuverability ( if thats how its spelt ) although i'me not sure about Range or Payload
actually harriers are more agile than F-35's but the new planes are much faster and stealth with all the new tech on it so yea i think the f-35 would win in a fight. All credit to the Harrier tho possibly one of the best products of britian
Great video. Got to add that it was very clear that the skies of Europe belonged to GB back in World War 2. However today, the only reason the RAF is ranked below other air forces is because it doesn't use the most advanced technology available. Something, imo. which is basically useless since the RAF has the best pilots in the world. Just look at history - full stop.
Looking at history, the RAF havn't shot anything down since world war 2. The Fleet Air Arm on the other hand have shot down enemy aircraft on two seperate occasions since then
Hmm aren't we all basically on the same team? The USAF and the RAF are both excellent, use a lot of the same equipment, and support each other's operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Whats the point of arguing amongst ourselves?
RAF - superb people ( I know them). But it has no global presence - that's the USAF. Here in Japan, no RAF theatre, not at all. Be nice to see an F3 fly over western Japan one aday, or the 'Reds.
but the RAF has better planes (Eurofighter that fly at the speed of sound ) and our troops are better trained we have less killed troops (100) but we are allies with america and all the UN G8 Nato etc countries!
Yeah, the British AWACS system is called the Nimrod, and last time I checked it wasnt American. And America doesnt fly British shit? Try the Harrier jump jet- you guys have only been using that for the last 3 decades or so... not to mention all of the Rolls Royce Engines that various American jets have been using since planes had wings and could fly...
Try the American made, British flown Sentry AEW1. The Harrier was a joint project between US AND UK. The Uk pulled out for lack of funding and the US took full control of the program. Our Harrier and your current one is a spin off of the original Britian built. Ie. cool idea, let America make it better and make our own. HA!
The Brits designed the original known as the Hawker Siddeley. It was the bases for future Harriers but in combat it lacked fire power. McDonnell Douglas and BAe joined together and created what is now the kickass American and British versions.
"The Brits designed the original known as the Hawker Siddeley. It was the bases for future Harriers but in combat it lacked fire power."
Bullshit lol, the British Harrier has never been undergunned. Perhaps for American pilots cos they cant hit shit. Harrier was an entirely British project that we sold under licence to McDD. It wasnt known as the "hawker siddeley" either, thats the company that designed and built it. "Harrier" was and is its original designation.
Bullshit, British pilots couldn't maintain air superiority during the Falkland wars. They couldn't prevent Argentine air attacks during both night and day. They were using the Harrier. It was crap!
Actually, after just a few short days there was air superiority for the RAF. It was denied early in the conflict by bad weather preventing the Harriers from operating from their carriers, and last time I checked no armed force in the world has weather control devices.
The fact is, the RAF maintained air superiority over the falklands despite the fact that they were outnumbered 3 to 1, and flew a near spotless combat record against the argentine airforce who were operating Dassault Mirage F1s and 2000s, a faster and more maneuverable aircraft than the Harrier. Most of the kills were made by the Harriers onboard cannon as well, as the weather and terrain did not allow for air to air missles. So much for the Harrier being poorly armed.
America has the besst pilots in the world. Don't forget we had more Aces than Britian did in World War two and destroyed the Japanese Navy Air service MILES away from home. We didn't hug our coast and let them come to America after Pearl Harbor. It boogles my mind that you think Britian has the best of everything.
What really boggles my mind is why you look for RAF tribute videos with the intention to stir up arguments.
What did you think would happen when you called the British shit? Believe it or not, most British servicemen respect US soldiers and vice versa; we have their backs and they have ours.
If you want to start petty arguments take it elsewhere.
and was engaged over a longer time period than the USA The Lancaster was the best bomber of the war, and the Spitfire the best fighter and aslo the most beautiful.
What a fool, we invented the air force, America said the aeroplane would never become a viable weapon in war thats why in WW1 we lent you the aeroplanes.
You also said the British invention of the aircraft carrier would never catch on; you have more of them than anyone now - Great imagination.
You have a "Top Gun" and RAF doesnt because all our pilots are trained to that level.
Dumb comment, Battle of Britain, bombing of Europe, etc. Plus in the Pacific theater the British were involved in Malasia and the Philipines pretty heavily. Plus, we were in supportive roles then, so what's the point of this argument. As countries go, I'm pretty sure the UK and US probably have the closest relationship militarily out of any set of countries I can think of.
The RAF do use the AEW1, this is true, however our main AWACS and sensor aircraft remains the Nimrod. It might also interest you to know that the Nimrod has been used to very great effect in both Iraq and Afghanistan by all members of the coalition forces there as its battlefield control and observation systems are still first class, and there to this date remains no other NATO aircraft flying with a simlar standard of equiptment on board.
America has the P-3 Orion which is the same crap and role as the Nimrod. Nothing more, nothing less. Only Russia and China have an aircraft compared to the E-3 Sentry. Which i WHY Britian fly's them!
The P3 orion is a dedicated sub hunting aircraft, and the Nimrod can do this, the Nimrod is a multirole, multifunction AWACS, control and management aircraft. If it was only a sub hunting aircraft why the hell would they be using them in Iraq and Afghanistan?
The P-3 can do the same. But it's a Navy aircraft and will not be used in Iraq. That's up to the Pentagon. The P-3'S were some of the first aircraft to show up during the Kuwait invaion and flew missions up and down the Iraqi, Kuwati boarder.
Or maybe you would like to hear an interesting fact about the conflict in Iraq- almost all of the major precision air strikes were conducted by RAF Tornados, Why? Because they are the only pilots qualified to fly at less than 100ft (the height necessary to defeat RADAR coverage) at high speed and then execute the attacks with the precision necessary to ensure the destruction of the target and mimise collateral damage.
You can type in the aircraft I have mentioned and get the general info which I have provided. Mainly from Wiki. But I couldn't find one for your 100 feet.
the USAF are not as well trained as RAF pilots and i believe the british train american pilots. But the USAF are the biggest in the world. Allies none the less
