Nice and easy mod. I once read a book written by a Vietnam war vet, a navy seal, and he talked about increasing the rof on the m60. He said you could increase it by dropping in a coin between some parts. His outfit used to carry spare parts for the 60 too, because reliability became a real issue. Also, my experience is that one can increase the rof on an ak47, almost the exact same way as you show with the uzi. Just drop in a rubbery block behind the boltcarrier, at the back of the receiver.
The Sterling end cap and recoil spring are round and the eraser is square. It may not fit right. I am going to try to find an eraser that is larger and try to cut a circular buffer from it. Most erasers I have seen are rectangular in shape and about the size of the one in the video.
@sidewindermack The erasers composition and flexability is more important than the shape, if it's not a gum-type material eraser it will not work as well or reliably.
@newin10 I live near Richmond, VA. There isn't really anything special about the C93 sporter. You could have one shipped to any dealer, run through the instant background check and have one inside of a week. The only permits Virginia has are for carry of a concealed handgun. NFA regulated items are handled the normal fashion, registered transferable items, Chief LEO approval, fingerprint cards, plus one approved federal tax stamp. Paperwork (copies) must accompany the NFA item.
@gooman989898 The sronger spring still has the bolt going the same distance forward and backward, the eraser shortens the distence and adds a additional rebound to allow the bolt to cycle faster.
@GunloverClark It sounds correct in theory but you have to remember that the AR15/M16 is a gas operated closed bolt firearm so all you would be doing is restricting the gas system with enough force to cycle the rifle.
Yes, if you build the weapon from a parts kit it is cheaper. That is one of the plus benifits in being a Class 2 is being able to purchase cheap kits and turn them out at a good profitable working firearm.
Random question, but what do you do with all the spent shell casings? Leave them on the ground? And if you just sweep them up, how do you do that when you fire over dirt? Have you tried attaching a collecting bag to the gun? I read that the Russians did this to their AK-47 to keep the gun secret. Every casing needed to be accounted for..
@AdmiralNeeda Yes I pick up all the brass and dump them into a 50 gallon drum then turn them in for cash once each year, usually around 300 pounds worth. The steel spent cases are usually just thrown away, no cash value.
Before you listed the options I thought to myself, "add a silencer, heavier spring, or more powerful ammo." The eraser seems to increase the spring's weight/pressure and provide an elastic surface for the bolt to bounce off of. I imagine more powerful ammo and adding a silencer would also help, right?
@erkwit More powerful ammo might have a increase but it wouldn't be noticable to human ears. Adding a suppressor wouldn't increase pressure and make the gun run faster. Yes the gun would be quieter at the muzzle end but the pressure in the chamber is still the same and would not affect speed of the bolt.
Would the gun be any use at 700 rpm. The magazine empties in no time. You would need a wheelbarrow to carry your ammo! Great video, as always. Greetings from Scotland (no guns allowed) oh well!
@C2builder I have been there and done that. I am dissabled now-sholders and back- but if I lived in your neck of the woods I would still offer to come by and help.
Before I ever view the rest of the video, in reply to the multiple choice.
I believe choice A. is unreliable and can damage the firearm severely, B. increases the likelihood of jamming (FTF) and could cause damage. A lighter bolt I might say would be the best option.
@Reynard13Fuchs All of the options given are up for debate but each has its points. Option C. is only going to get you that high ROF and you will need another original bolt to achieve 500rpm again. My point in showing these tips & tricks is what simple mods can be done with household items with no tools or machining the parts of the gun.
The answer A if i am not wrong helps to reduce the rpm. I had heard that german machinegunners used to cut the recoil spring shorter to reduce the firing rate for MG42 and save ammunition. Could it be true? Btw cool video with a lots of useful information. Thanks.
@karamelles98 I don't think cutting the MG42 recoil spring will do anything other than cause jams. The '42 also uses the front booster cone to assist recoil and the balance on the spring for recoil would change.
hehe my gandpa did this in the army when they were bored. in that time they used swedish K subM. and if u took a exstra spring and inserted behind the first recoil spring. so going from 500/rpm to 1000/rpm. that was so fast so u had to tilt the weapon on its side or else the empty brass wouldet get out. and if u presst the trigger only one time (single fire) it would still go fullauto. and it wouldet stop fire until there were no ammo left in the mag :D
@edro20 True, a good example is the aircraft versions of the Browning 1919, had lighter bolts and ran like a raped ape. This trick is mainly to show what you can no without tools or perm mods.
Good to know. I actually thought in putting a stronger recoil spring. I don't know if you can actually find a stronger recoil spring, but I'm sure there's a way. :)

@groundzero94 Yes, I have been using Blackjack buffers in my AK's as well. Really helps smooth out recoil and makes it easier on the shoulder. The Blackjacks were really made to soften recoil and not change the ROF.
Interesting video. I've seen a semi-auto uzi disassembled and it is amazing how something with so few parts can do what it does.

@C2builder in theory you could apply the same set up to a semi atoumatic ar 15?

Im certain you have your proper permets but is the cost of a full atou less if you build it from a kit?
