Jerry wanted me to play bass around Nov.78.Instead I joined Guyana Boys Choir,Christian Arnheiter's band before The Hates.I loved Jerry but I wanted to play hardcore punk and Disease was kinda dated even then.I later formed Youth Korps in Connecticut.
I saw them in Houston way back then! Was hanging out with Derrick, Dave, Arden, Nick, Justin Sane ...! I have a New Wave Productions Legionaries Disease tshirt from back then. It is pale blue with the lead singers pic on it with a red scarf around his neck. It has "I'd rather see you dead" on the front!
Collectors item for sale on ebay. under 'band tshirts".
Gotta sell it, I don't need it,still have my pink plastic shorts, my leopard dress, my club SPIT card , I'm good
Hahaha! One of the first things I remember about the scene in Houston when I started hanging out was all the Really Red VS. Legionaire's Disease shit. I see it's still a "thing". I loved 'em both. Apples and Oranges. The Degenerates were pretty good too.
this is paradise island (later rock island) owned by phil hicks. mix by ted barwell. video by Cap'n video. was there and remember. nearly normal norman
Yes, Really Red covered the Petula Clark Downtown, but it was never released on anything other than a recently released comp. of old Houston bands called "Rather See You Dead: Houston Punk 1978-79" that also had the Disease and the Hates doing unreleased stuff.
The venue is Paradise Island under I-10.

Who is NCM?
The old Paradise Island/Rock Island/The Island Club is gone. Demolished to the memories of history or something like that.

ah, you're right! it was the "rather see you dead" comp. that which i don't have. i really liked "hypocrisy" from legionaire's disease.

Shitty video, but the band rocks. Don't think Jerry can sing good, but he writes real well!!!!

Nothing wrong with Really Red or NCM at all, but the Disease was the best.
