Why do you hate the map so much? Is it because of the small amount it shows you? It's not like the explorers of the 1500's mapped all the earth in one second without even being to all the earth. You need to explore to fill it in. Some maps end up looking pretty awesome. One map I made looked like England. I'm also one of those easily offended guys, the map was one my second favorite addition, on every SMP server I play on I make a map of the spawn point.
