Systema in most its part is just a ninjutsu-like shit for making money. Try to find something about ROSS which is another way to integrate some Aikido techniques into Sambo.
Not that you can tell from my last comment, but I respect what these people are doing very much. I just see too much of other martial arts in there to believe this is wholly a russian system. Hell, some of them are wearing gis and belts.. I think I saw a samurai sword in there as well.
Of cource not all of it was developed in Russia. But martial arts works another way than only inventing new techniques. How many similar techniques do you know in various syles? The system is Russian, but the people who developed it practicing Japanese an Mongolian styles of fighting among others.
I agree, but what these guys have developed, and again, I respect it very much, looks an awful lot like what taiji people do... the relaxation and body mechanics, and as vasiliev shows, the breathing and the strikes all seem like taijichuan stuff... But I will say, the russians make it all much more obvious.
You may respect it how you want, but I think that Systema is pretty unusable style. Aikido and Sambo were a basic styles for Systema and Aikido doesn't prove itself like a good choice for fight on the stance. But the ground play which became from Sambo isn't bad.
These guys have developed nothing, but teachers of their teachers have integrated Japanese Judo, Russian folk wrestling styles and striking techniques from many other styles into one complite training sysytem and called it Sambo.
with all do respect to you, only people that have not been popped then twisted up by someone like vasiliev think the system is "unusable".. it works just fine, but you have to hurt people to do it.
I tryed to learn Systema with a friend of my Sambo coach and yes, from very beginning you can be duped by strange moves and unexpected tricks of Systema guy. But they quickly learned during sparring, and then begins the usual match. And I have to say that there wasn't something dangerous in it.
Thats the point though, it's hard to do while sparring, because your trying not to actually hurt someone. Once someone who is capable gets close and starts digging their fingers (Or striking)into painful spots those weird throws and takedowns will work, it's just how the body moves. The pain response opens windows that are not available otherwise. But, training partners can only take so much...thats why we see so many silly looking flow drills.
I have never seen any serious fight with aikido. Only ostentatious. Maybe you saw? Are there any of it on youtube, I would be very grateful to you if you give me a link.
I'm not talking about aikido, they move too much. I will look through my favorites later to see if i can find a clear example.
Imagine someone like vasiliev really squeezing(or striking) your throat, while twisting your head/neck in the direction you are trying to escape...it's very uncomfortable and effective... and dangerous.. thats why you can't practice that way.
If you keep that in mind, his videos are more understandable.
Before he start twisting my neck, he should have catched it first. In all his videos I've seen all the people have given him theirs arms and legs and hads and... so on. That's pretty idiotic way to harm your enemy - by giving him your hand for armbar.
Your right, but that is just practice.. once the limbs start flying it's not hard for someone good to get their hands to your face, neck or groin. Once there, it's easy to inflict pain and get the body moving. I would recommend you attend a seminar and politely resist their motions, and then you can see if it works or not. It would be worth your time, I think. It will be fun, too.
Maybe. But if their seminars are something like on videos of it, that will be waste of time, because they don't fight with seminars students on vids I've found, only kicks them to paunch or doing staging acrobatics with their own students.
Huh? And where is that practice? Looking to staging noone become a fighter. Who really fight this style? Without sparing it's a joke, pretty much like aikido, ninjutsu and so on. Even Krav Maga practitioner fight each other, full of protectors, in helmets and gloves, but they fight. To learn.
It's obvious you never seen systema training. They're sparring sessions are much harder than any other martial art,and they're toughness is only rivaled by MMA,and combat sambo fighters. They're strikes are highly effective, and their moves are VERY EASY to learn,it simply goes with your instict and practice, and it's probably the most effective martial art on street.I know dude that trains systema for 5 yrs,and MMA only 6 months, but still he is one of the best MMA fighters in his category in srb.
And it's the martial art of Spetsnaz,a Russian spec ops unit. They wouldn't use it for no reason, and Stalin's personal bodyguards were systema dudes, not sambo.Sambo is also very effective martial art,it's like MMA only Russian,Fedor Emelianenko who is probably the best fighter ever is sambo fighter.
Oh, saw it. I've trained with Systema guys a couple of times, and have had sparring with one of them. What they are doing it's not a sparring, it's a technique exercises in pair. So, I repeat a question, who fight in this style? Specnaz? Bullshit, specnaz uses ROSS, GRU-hand-to-hand, Combat Sambo. Stalin's bodyguards? Bullshit, these guys used Samoz (soft-Sambo), Kadochnikov was only 22 when Stalin dead. Anyone else?
It did seem like Aikido and I'm not very familiar with systema, but some of does moves are what I have learned in my sambo class (not those Aikido-like acrobatic throws)
@tearo it is aikido dude, dont care what he calls it. i did aikido and everything but the stance is aikido. My thought was "why is this polish art with the same name as the russian systema using japanese Gi for training and the belt grading system"

Niestety brak tutaj Systema, Sambo i elementy Aiki.
Panowie albo Sambo albo Systema zdecydujcie się.
Systema podobnie jak nasz BAS3 nie jest ogólnodostępny.
Pozdrawiam

I'm sorry, but It annoys me when people take something, repackage it, then call it something new. How is this stuff NOT asian martial arts?

You won't believe...
This is Russian matrial art.
But you can always say that most of Russia is in Asia =D
