the 1st pinoy rapper, this was probably in late 70s, and also with vincent dafalong. in the 80s new wave came mawala itong rap, then i believe late 80s francis m introduced rap music again and it got hold to all kabataans up til now. also may sense kasi ang rap ni francis m, unlike noon patay ka if you have these kind of lyrics in your music.

@erjsatoronto This was in 1980 when Good Times was very big in the Philippines. Some say that Vincent Daffalong's "Kahulugan Ng Nunal" is another pioneering Pinoy Hip Hop record. But I honestly beg to disagree. VD's Nunal is an adaptation of Funky Town. VDs version only has a verse of rap the rest is simple singing. By all intents and purposes, this IS the first Pinoy Rap record made in the Philippines. Unfortunately, although George Javier was the first Pinoy Rapper to record in the RP........

@erjsatoronto The first Filipino rapper is a person named Joe Bataan based in the US. He made rap records in the late 70s. A good two years ahead of George Javier. This is no discredit to George Javier. This is STILL a pioneering record that its greatest disciples were Francis Magalona and Andrew Espiritu.
