First of all it should be said that I love Chuck Berry. But to call him the King of Rock and Roll is like having your head up your ass for the last 50 years. Berry was great a true legend but King of R&R? I think Elvis' 30 #1 hits and billion and a half records sold might disagree with you.

He's known as the "Father" of rock.. NOT the King. He created/invented some of the most basic, most copied rock guitar licks ever, and his song writing and clever lyrics also established a standard that even young artist's today are influenced by, wihout even knowing it.

Truth is that Chuck has played the same 10 to 15 songs over and over again for the last 55 years while Elvis in his time became a rock legend, a country legend, a pop legend and a gospel legend. If you want to call CB the King of Rock and Roll then you need to call Elvis the King of Popular Music because he is the most successfull musical artist ever walk the earth.

Chuck Berry was 9 years older than Elvis, BUT Chuck Berry started his career AFTER Elvis. Chuck Berry's first song was Maybellene 1955. By 1955 Elvis was already a huge star.

Elvis sold over 2 billion records world wide, Chuck Berry under 50 million. Don't get me wrong, I love Chuck Berry, and he is a much better guitar player, but Elvis WAS, IS and will always be THE KING

AGREED..Elvis is the King of commercial success...USA style...and he died US style in a haze of drugs & unhappiness.

But Chuck wrote more than a dozen rock standards...maybe more ..Presley none.They'll be playing Chuck's tunes in 200 years, when Presley will be historical wall paper.

I disagree about elvis' music not being played in the far future. I think that elvis' and chuck's music will both be played for a long time to come. I think they're both brilliant.
