It is very rare to see this type of performance at the prix nowadays. At this very early point in her career she was already commanding the stage in the way that a principal dancer would. She's just special.

@pattersonjk I agree! One of the things that really strikes me about this is how incredibly confident she was! She's not my favorite prima but I do really admire her talent and it's amazing how she could walk out there and take control even as a teen

haha yer for my school talent show i wanted to do a classical solo considering im known as "the ballerina" and ballet being my favourite style, however i decided to do a jazz dance instead because i didnt want to put the audience to sleep considering these days most people are into hip-hop etc.

never too old. Take it for fun, at a community college for example. Cheap and some have very good teachers. You'd be surprised at what you can accoplish...regardless of age.

i kno it's awfully late for me to be replying to your question, but she most likely intended to be on demi-pointe most of the time. You see, because pointe shoes are so loud, dancers have to do all that they can to muffle the sound. Keeping the heel up is one of the more common tricks.

Also, the more wiehgt you keep on the ball of your foot, the easier it is to perform allegro pieces such as this one. If your weight is too far back, it takes longer to get on pointe.
