  • good lord. this man knows nothing about reality. Behavior Modification works. Always has, always will. What the man is doing IS behavioral modification! Only he is too stupid to know it.

  • I love this doctrine of regeneration. Can anyone give me a list of verses about it? I hope its true and its not just a pride cultivating abstonance thing.

  • I am a Christian who has done behavior modification therapy to help me overcome panic attacks. I believe God used that process to heal my wrong thinking. As long as a practice is not new age or occultic I see no problem with it. I do agree that only God can change your heart.

  • For any Christian who is in counseling, please stay in it...you are there because the gospel confronted you with the reality that you need to change...you need those practical tools(such as behavior modification) to help experience that change. I don't think pastor driscoll, or any pastor at that, would want you to not learn the necessary tools to overcome your behavioral struggles.

  • The idea that the relationship between the gospel and counseling (behavior modification) is an either/or proposition is a false assertion. Behavior modification provides great tools that help people practically deal with issues and struggles, as opposed to simply preaching an obscure message of "if your saved, then you'll get it all figured out." There's a better way of saying what was said above in the video.

  • Thank you for my new Heart Jesus.

  • And if God doesn't give you a new heart? If He's already decided you're damned?

Then get out of our church.

  • Behavior modification does not come from the Lord God. Behavior modification comes from the world.

  • I agree; the Holy Spirit maximizes our lives with how He gifts us and it's really a pleasure to learn God's truth through Mark. He's a lot of fun and an effective communicator, in my opinion.

  • OK so what's the technique exactly?

Say I want to improve or modify behavior X. Not interested in Jesus or Christianity, but I am interested in getting actual results.

Furthermore, is there some track record of this "regeneration" technique ? I mean to show that it actually exists and works?

  • @firuinthehouse

CHRISTIANITY! not the religion... but the people.

  • @aveyowyns Umm.. say what now ? :)

  • nice....great way to explain it...thanks :)

  • I finally,truly,understand!The things I want to do,I do not.The things I do not want to do,I do anyways.

  • What is a new creation? Someone who wants to live holy and read the Bible and follow Jesus.

  • SAY WHAT?!!!!

  • you hate religion, yet you're a Christian? makes perfect sense

  • 'religion' as Mark defines it is people working to awards acceptance from God. Christianity teaches the contrary, that God has done all the work (in the cross). That's where you get the new heart and from that you do good things.

  • change which is to be fruitful comes from within first. You can always change things around you but it won't continue.

For those that think they would compare others deeds to others deeds is the terrible price we constantly pay from the tree of knowledge. Never compare people to make others or yourself feel better about your deeds...your best deeds are but dirty rags before God. Instead of wasting your time comparing people...try helping people earnestly & with compassion to understand them.

  • Well said, Very intelligent!

  • How true....... I am a regenerated alcoholic. Trust there is recovery and healing through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

  • This is the wrecking ball to all "cure" groups in conservative Christianity, ex-gay, ex-witch ex-whatever; while I believe that those ministries ALL have good intentions, they're only seeking to modify one's own sinful desires and wants not their hearts and that is the biggest issue. Not the way they are at the moment but their hearts. I've always had an issue with the phrase: "I'm 'cured' of such-and-such". To say that is to say that it was all a mental issue, its not its a heart issue.

  • @psychosquid There has to be some learned behavior vs your heart though. :) I mean if the word 'red' meant hunger and you learned that you'd say 'I red'. With behavior we learn from others around us, as well as good and bad. How do we know what is wrong without seeing right behavior. But I agree, it is the heart too. :)

  • Awsome!

  • lots of good stuff here!

  • I <3 this video

  • I can't find a preacher that tells it as strait as Driscoll. I love how he brings the Word of God to people.

  • :)...I am glad a good friend of mine suggested listening to these sermons....now I listen to them every week. Good stuff, strait to the point...no fluff...no bull...

  • This is THE key distinction between Pelagianism/Arminianism/Romanism and Augustinian/Calvinism.

Regeneration (a solitary work of the Holy Spirit) precedes faith!

  • Straight up my brother.
