A lot of working people are not getting coverage. A lof of working people w coverage are not getting adequate care due to the benefits that don't correspond with what a doctor is prescribes.
A lot of people without insurance end up going to the emergency rm - that costs more than a regular dr vsit & the cost is subsidized. You are paying for that now.
PS According to a study by the Inst of Medicine it's estimated that 18,000 deaths a year among adults can be attributed to lack of insurance
Small businesses get charged more per employee than large businesses for the same insurance. Why? BECAUSE THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY CAN, THAT'S WHY.
That's real encouraging for people considering opening up a small business.
That's also one of the reasons a lot of working people are uninsured. Just one of the reasons. People working with families often can't afford the dependent coverage costs.
Say you buy a ticket from an airline to get from A to B, you get on the plane & half-way out the flight attendant puts a parachute on you & pushes you out of the plane,
Oh wait - the airline industry can't do that because there are government regulations providing CONSUMER PROTECTIONS.
But today the ins. co. can cut you off after 3 mos. even if you need your chemotherapy treatments for 4.
First, that's a good thing, not a bad thing, to prohibit insurance companies from EXCLUDING the people who are paying for insurance. The CEO of Cigna, Ed Hanway's annual salary last year was 12.2 million dollars, that's $5,583 per hour which - if he works 8 hours - is $44,664 per day. A health care reform bill that protects us is not going to bankrupt Ed.
Xj2yzz, before I list them let me just say that the "right wing" is just as bad.
Less freedoms....higher taxes, restricted interpretation of the 1st, 2nd, 10th, 11th amendments, fairness doctrine, free speech zones, brady laws, over reaching social programs, liberal pattern of differing to UN edicts(see many comments by Ginsburg and Sotomayor), further in history you had Marshall Plan, the liquidation of our currency and let us not forget the open support of National Socialism in Europe.
1. You can't scream "nazi commie socialist!" without falling on the floor laughing your ass off;
2. You can't claim you know what the health care reform bill is about without first reading it.
3. You can't refer to the post office as a failure because the high fuel charges resulted in ALL delivery services suffering setbacks, & normally even a 5-year old would be embarrassed t make such an overdone emotional & inane ASSertion.
If the government passes the bill, you can still have private insurance, it's just that there will be CONSUMER PROTECTIONS in place. Try reading the bill before you make claims against it, rather than have a station that gets millions of dollars from the insurance indstry, reading it for you. Again, Ed Hanway, the CEO of Cigna, made 12.2 MILLION dollars for his annual salary. Such obscene, self-appointed kings aren't going to go bankrupt should CONSUMER PROTECTIONs get passed.
Great so I get to pay for my Insurance and your health care. Sounds great! You take my money and add miles of red tape to an already bass akwards system... fun Would you like to confiscate a portion of my home for your use? Maybe you deserve a portion of my wardrobe? The system is broke. I agree with that, but it is the addition of social programs that broke it. medicade medicare broke it and Obamacare will only make it worse. Consumer protection my ass.
I work and pay for my insurance, but if I have to retire early due to illness, the insurance company is liable to cut me off after a certain period, that is if I can even afford by then to pay for whatever astronomical price increase they decide to impose by that time. And I had a claim blithely denied for surgery which I appealed, fortunately I won the appeal. Think of all the people who weren't able to appeal.
Actually, you will pay more without this bill because the insurance industry can raise your rates next year if they want. And their benefits don't even have to correspond with what your doctor prescribes for your care; so if you need treatment that the insurance company denies you, you pay out of pocket. And the emergency rm visits just keep growing. You really don't know what you're talking about.
Jbugko, it is nice to get into a discussion with someone who is informed. One point that you bring up over and over again is the raising cost of ER visits. This is a big one. Why are ER visits so expensive? A number of reasons but one of the big ones is this: Socialized medical programs. Medicare and Medicaid don't actually pay the whole bill. In cases of stitches or broken bones Medicare/aid is great, but for sniffles (how many people go to the ER for a cold) it only covers 30%........
.......cont.. in cases of extreme trauma (car accidents and the like),psychiatric, or detox visits Medicare/cade covers even less. The patient is not billed and the Government does not foot the whole bill, so the hospital has to eat the dept. The hospital then turns the dept back onto base costs. People with good insurance and do pay their bills end up absorbing the cost. This makes the insurance company overpay so to cut cost they cut benefits. Fallow the problem to the source.
As for you your stats about the salaries of certain top level insurance jerks. Your absolutely right, but I would say that your arguments apply to all kinds of top level execs. Pharmaceuticals, Tobacco, auto, metal production, insurance, politics, union leaders, retail box store execs....on and on and on. many many top level execs are paid way too much.
If you want to see how well soc. health care would work simply look at the countries that currently use socialized medicine. Waiting lists, denial of services (why operate on a tumor in a 75 year old? She's just going to die soon anyways.- England) Euthanasia of children born with expensive congenital defects (conjoined twins, cerebral palsy (spelling?)China) hours long waiting lines for urgent care (ER's in Germany, England and Italy) and application of Triage policy for all med procedures.
So why are they opposed to a bill that provides consumer protections to you who are purchasers of private health care? ]
Because Ed Hanway, the CEO of Cigna, made $12.2 million dollars last year (that's $5,583 per hour) off denying claims, stopping chemotherapy procedures, & hiking premium costs. If you vote for health care reform, he won't be able to give himself a raise.
& since Cigna also gives Fox News millions, you'll make Glenn Beck cry.
Because we trust the government less than we trust the private insurance companies.
And for good reason, we could choose a different insurance company if we don't like the service there, but if the government passes this bill, you will have no choice in the matter. They will essentially have a monopoly, and we won't even be able to sue them.
Think of it like this, the goverment would be like a player and a referee in the health care market. No way current companies can compete.
Go to credoaction(dot)com to sign a petition in favor of a public option.
Doing nothing is not an option anymore so why not take the time to get the facts.
My profile has been converted into a health care resource. In the comment section you will find the answers to the most commonly asked questions as well as several other resources including the easy to read version of the bill (and the long one), Info on who is in the pockets of big Pharma and what you can do to help.
American citizens, go across the border to mexico to get health care, then go to canada...ask around; open your eyes and try and use your mind. I am really tired of insurance companies depriving the sick from getting health care.
Ahahaha, you fools think we have a two party system, when what we really have, is a two faced one party system that changes it's name to stay in office.
My mother (and her older friends) loves medicare and she would have a difficult time if it weren't for her social security. For this woman to make such a statement that Medicare, Social Security, etc. are broken. It's her fucking head that's broken. This is so typical of these ignorant people who practically worship stupidity and ignorance. It is these kinds of Americans who all too often are xenophobes, racists and know-nothings.
Obama said it himself. FedEx and UPS do it better then the USPS! So do you want the government to run your heathcare? I think not. Like the lady said they have screwed up Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security! Social Security was supposed to be voluntary and untouched! You can thank another Democrat.. LBJ and the Democratic Congress 1966-1996 for draining the Social Security Trust Fund! Social Security is broke! Can you say Bernie Madoff I mean Uncle Sam!!! We will be 12.1 trillion in debt!
Obama admitted that private companies are more efficient than government agencies yet he will not rest until he has forced his takeover of our healthcare down our throats.
I am also pissed about the huge amount of debt the repubs gave to this country. especially since they were given the biggest surplus in history. ITS AN OUTRAGE. And a huge problem to deal with.
Its hard to criticize the people tryimg to fix a problem given to them more than the ones who made the problem.
Also, no grandmas have been killed in Ma by the universal healthcare or whatever weirdos are saying.
Also, Ma is the place where the idea of this country started. calling Ma socoalists what??
Ur Democratic Congress just added 1.8 trillion to the Debt!!! They also brought you Social Security the biggest Ponzi scheme in history!! FDR started it! LBJ and the Democratic Congress started stealing from it in 1966 to fund the Vietnam War and Social Programs of the 60's (alot of good that did!!!) The congress (democratically controlled from 1966-1996 used Social Security Trust funds to help fund the Federal Budget! This is why Medicare, Medicaid, and SS are 75 trillion in the hole!!!
Your dates are alittle off but that was pretty good research ill give you that. Two important dates you left out Rep controlled and caused the great depression, and this new one. (also the recession in the 80's) They were the only times they were in controll. weird huh.
Hey maybe they did steal from S.S. I wouldnt be surprised. It would be good to see proof tho. It may be more than that tho, common sense would say. Lots of people (well millions) like those programs. Ponzi schemes you dont get
money back at all. So I wouldnt call it that. many prestigous economists appluad S.S. Hey maybe you know more than they do. Its just there lifes job to study the economy. hey and some probably do not like it.
Hey lets not argue tho. whats the point right? I dont want anybody knowing how much of a retard I am lol.
I do wanna say one thing, most of the debt added by this dem admn seems to have been to stop the bleeding or gushing from the previous. Thats kinda hard to argue against.
Maybe if one was to get a team and crunch the numbers and could have stopped the bledding cheaper or without that. than dam I wish they were in the office right.
And also, while the size of government can be debated forever, the fact is when someone is elected in office, their job is to run and manage the government, and they should make sure taxpayers get the bang for their buck.
Too many Republicans use this "governemnt doesn't work" philosophy as a crutch to they can justify what an incompetent job they end up doing.
And why in single payer nations their health care is less expensive than what we have in the US?
Like I said, the role of government is a huge separate debate in itself.
As for GM (I know we won't agree), I do see it as Bush passing the buck on this problem and Obama's actions will keep a bad problem from getting worse. And I do want to see the government get out of the car business as soon as possible. I am aware of the problem of a temporary take over becoming permament and am not for this.
GM screwed up by taking the EV1 electric car off the market. Obama should bring this back
GM and other Detroit companies screwed over the nation by buying up all of the street cars across the country and replacing them with buses.
Look up the "Great American streetcar scandal"
'The scandal's consequences were the rise of a permanent car culture in the United States and the lack of any cohesive intercity mass transit network.'
And boy are we suffering for it now. Suburban sprawl and environmental pollution.
Lets stick to the topic, Universal Health Care in the form of HR 3200.
I agree that what we have now needs to change, but NOT to the extent of intervention being proposed in that Bill. If you actually take time to read the text (I know its not finalized) you would all agree its outrageous.
I don't have some perfect solution, they are all uncomfortable. But this proposal is the most invasive and expensive of any possible solution.
There might be rational people that have honest questions and concerns about health care reform. FOX propaganda and, this "death panel" crap hurts those people the most.
I welcome honest debate and disagreements, but when they use tacticts of being loud and disruptive, thus no debate, I have no respect for these crazies.
FOX news is nothing more than a propaganda mouthpiece that is an advocate for the decline of America.
King George called Thomas Jefferson and his ilk a bunch of 'crazies' back a few centuries back.
Name one thing government thing that is ran right. Wars, SS, Medicare, VA, Energy, Education? Nothing.
Govt has already ruined health through the use of tax breaks only available through your employer. If govt were to break this bond, by removing this tax break and letting us keep more of our money in return, the system won't be monopolized.
Govt is going to do to health what they did to education
I wouldn't put Palin in the same league as Jefferson, unles your intent is to let everyone know you're a total idiot.
WWII was ran good. Vietnam and Iraq were ran like crap, because those wars had the backing of the mlitary industrial complex and not the American people.
From what I know most people that have medicare like it. Do you have any stats on this that say otherwise?
Let's see... what's common to these three things.. education, homes (until recently), and cars? Gov't made it easy to get credit for those things, and it's impossible to afford without a loan. Back when our markets were freer in the 50s, a person would save to buy a car, and it wouldn't take much... they were dirt cheap. Now it takes 5 years to pay off a loan.
Health costs are going to go up astronomically if this plan succeeds, and the poor will surely suffer. Why don't you care about them?
I do care about the poor, that's why I support healthcare reform.
Because if an actual universal health care system went into effect (like say, the French system, which costs less than half of our system per capita), it would cost significantly less than the greed-motivated private system we have now.
Also cars cost more nowadays for a variety of reasons, one of them being the stagnation of the average worker's wages since Reagan, despite rising productivity.
What's is upsetting is the fact that elected officials are not reading the thousand paged health care reform document for themselves. Delegating it to their staffers & getting them to interpret it would make the job easier. But to resolve the problems in the present health care situation so hastily isn't doing any good. We need to demand transparency & accountability. Trillions have been handed out at the expense of taxpayers. What debt would be weighed on the shoulders of our children?
I dont want a government beuracrat dictating my heal care options, I want a buisness man with a profit-motive to continue doing it! Please continue with the status quo.
Bush for 8 years, disregarded the Constitution on a daily basis, you have a propaganda station in Fox 24/7 BS for the ignorant, you have hired bloggers and hands bussed in from out of town to disrupt "polite debate", you have played the "race" card, the hate card, the blame card - Your party introduced torture, wire-tapping and stole 2 elections (using said tactics), plunged us into economic crisis via deregulation, alienated us to the world & you want more? Who sound like Nazi's? RNC of course.
It's also funny how Fox is the propoganda station. I'm guessing you agree with the other news stations that think Obama is god and that its unfair and impolite for anyone to interrupt the dems plans to take over the economy. This is a democracy and people have the right to voice their opinions. And Mr. hypocrite, we play all these cards and you play the Nazi card. Very good.
One MAJOR thing I am really FUCKING pissed off in this Healthcare Sham, is the fact there are Death Panels to decide if there is enough money to pay for a cancer surgery ect. And also in this Bill that should really FUCKING PISS YOU OFF MORE, is the fact Healthcare Admns, can look into your bank account real time to prevent you from paying out of your pocket for anything the Govt does not cover. Can we say MEDICAID people. This is the real aim of healthcare reform as I see it. READ THE BILL!!!!
barhunt1: You also fail to mention that in single payer nations, they don't have the problem of their citizens going bankrupt due to sky high medical bills like we have here in America.
And you also fail to mention that single payer nations spend less on their health care than we do in the US. I'm not waiting for you or FOX propaganda to inform us of these facts.
And you should know this or you again confirm the "liberal media" is a myth.
In response to Trollmaster21: With all due respect~ the citizens do not go bankrupt paying for healthcare now, but WE WILL with Obamacare. If they are poor; they simply DO NOT PAY now...they pass on that bill to the insured! The Poor benefit, NOW...they will not with this bill! They get the BEST care , on anothers bill! If the poor support this~they will see the difference too! Less care, more taxes in everything you do and buy, red tape and hoops to jump through, and help DENIED!! Truth!
Scott Rasmussen pretty much hit the election on the nail.. His poll was closer than any other poll.. That's why alot of people look at his polls.. Also if you saw a previous comment from me Rasmussen is a non- partisan pollster..
in November 2008 Rasmussen was the only poll to show McCain tied or leading OH, FL, MO, NC among others. Obama won every one of those states. I don't quite remember what they had Obama's popular vote at, it was either 48 or 49%, and that wasn't even close to the eventual outcome. I am not a believer in polls but Ras has to be the most far fetched.
Ribbon magnets, Harley-Davidson, NASCAR, FOX, guns, religion, U.S. military, stars 'n stripes, country music, classic rock, UFC, domestic alcohol, Marlboro, Pontiac, any domestic vehicles made in Mexico, anything loud, cook-outs, tailgate parties, above-ground pools, yearly vacations to the nearest beach, strip/dive bars, gas station mini-marts, barbed wire or butterfly tattoos, gambling, crystal meth and a love/hate for law enforcement and the Nazis...right-wing white trash is so predictable.
Also there's a difference between between conservatives whom I have honest disagreements with, but I respect, and the Neocon controlled GOP who never says what they truly stand for, and spend 100 times more effort tearing others down than they do lifting themselves up. So damn right, their opinion is worthless and they need to be voted out of office where and whenever possible. They offer nothing when it comes to a strong and prosperous America.
have you ever watched msnbc? its the daily kos convention over there. they use the most radical hate mongers on that channel. glenn beck is a nut, but what about your apparent savior keith olbermann? you would think that guy is going to jump out of that window thats behind him one day. so are you arguing that neocon gop should be voted out. would you say that for the daily kos kooky left too?
@barhunt1 Sorry youtube does not permit the posting of links, but anyone can easily google this information that 70% are for a public option. Since you don't know computers too well, ask a friend to help you out.
And by you not knowing you proved the "liberal media" is a huge myth.
Actually 68% of Americans like their healthcare and their health insurance. This is from a Scott Ramussan poll back this past Thursday. The only people that are interested in public option government run healthcare are the people that are to lazy to get a job and the 12 million illegals. also i'm not sure what you mean by "liberal media", but I don't watch MSNBC, NBC or CBS.
Also Scott Rasmussen is non partisan pollster, but being the smart person that you are. I'm quite sure you know that.
barhunt1, you should not insult 70% of America like that, unless you don't want them to take your side even more.
I'm sure that poll you have asked how many Americans feel America is in need of health care reform, and you're not telling us those stats due to embarrassment on your part.
And while many are content with their health care, they know they could find their job and benefits gone through no fault of their own.
3 words: RULES FOR RADICALS. you guys protest and shout us republicans down all day long, but you don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot kicking your ass up and down the street!
@djwolf12, I support honest debate no matter what side it comes from, not loud voices that drown out debate regardless who does it.
By you justifying this, you're saying 2 wrongs make a right, therefore your opinion is worthless.
And right wingers are mostly gutless wimps, voting for 2 chicken hawks as their leaders is merely an extension of their own cowardice, they can't kick anyone's ass.
The Left triumphed in the media over the last 8 years. they are proving to the american people that they WILL stifle any and all debate so for you to tell me that you are FOR honest debate tells me that you are full of it. also, your 2nd paragraph "coincidently" sounds like something bill o'reilly says, that you "can't justify bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior. 3rd and lastly, you lose the argument because you use go into the realm of personal attacks and name calling. now eat crow
@djwolf12: What a joke, if there was a leftist liberal media, we would have heard about Bush and Cheney's chicken hawk past far more than we heard about Kerry and the swift boat stuff in the 2004 election. We would have seen Dennis Kunich all over the news when he proposed articles of impeachment against Bush instead of next to nothing about that either. If the media was liberal, you would have to admit we would have bombarded with that information.
The reason the white trash rednecks (aka right wing base) are so loud and confident at the rallies is because they have health insurance....for when they get their fat big-boned jaws broken for not shutting the fuck up. The healthcare reform proponents can't afford health coverage let alone an assault charge or misdemeanor fine for beating on some stupid ass health insurance company conformist weasel.
run those liberals out of this country! Federal Gov CANT run anything! This Dem run congress have not even read this bill or the worthless stimulis bill.
This lady is off base. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid were the 3 most popular and successful programs of the 20th century. Cash For Clunkers has been so successful they extended it until October.
Just seems odd that the older folks at these mobs are all using socialized healthcare, or entitlement programs, and opposed to giving everyone the same coverage they all love. You ask any senior citizen, they all rave about Medicare ! 8)
It's not irrelevant , we weren't in debt when Bush entered office. I believe there was a 2.5 trillion surplus. Today's politicians could learn a thing or two from Clinton.. who by the way, also inherited a huge deficit and turned this country around by investing in America not foreign interests.
My dad's1957 Bel Air was a popular and successful car in the 20th century, doesn't mean it works well now. Social security is question mark of how much longer it will last. Medicare/ Medicaid's in the toilet and circling. You're right, the old folks just love their medicare and the 80% it pays. Cash for clunkers...WTF. These geniuses said the $1 billion would last 4 months, barely made it a week. That in mind, how accurate do you think these dumbasses estimated cost for socialized HC really is?
We all know since Obama has taken office that 12.5 million americans have lost their jobs, foreclosures has hit an all time record highs, and now the Obama administration is using fraudulent economic numbers in hopes to regain his polling data that is declining. American voters will not be fooled again in the next upcoming elections.
If there was ever a time in your lives where it was important to write your Congressmen, the time is now! Please write your Congressmen and tell them you want to keep your healthcare choices between you and your physician and you do not want a government to ration your care! Make it very clear to them that if they vote "yes" on this destructive bill, not only will you not be voting for them in the next election, you will help their opponent in the campaign to remove them from office.
Oh, BTW LSRthnLFE, tell your fellow countrymen that come to our country for treatment because they can afford it and don't want to wait and die in yours how bad our healthcare is. Don't tell me to research healthcare, I started working in it when you were still sucking your mom's tit you ignorant little pissant.
LSRthnLFE, aren't you from canada? What the hell do you know about what American voices are saying? Show me one current poll where the majority of US citizens wants government run healthcare. No dount there needs to be reform, but universal healthcare isn't the answer. Why dont you pull the hockey stick out of you ass and shut the hell up on on matters you're ignorant on, eh?
look at the facial expression of the woman in white while the lady in the auidence is commenting on the health care. Its as if she wants every1 to stfu!
FAKE NEWS Im FOX NEWS does a good job of making this look the american voice, watch the hole video these paid of hicks are crazy. How dumb and ignorant do you have to be to believe this crap its insane how fox spins this.
Americans don't deserve a president like Obama, he's too good for you.You have one of the worst health systems in the world and yet your one of the wealthest nations.I hope bluecross is paying you ton for your stupidty.Stop being so ignorant research healthcare and realize how much better it is for your country.I'm proud to say and brag are healthcare is rated and truely is way better then yours.
Many of you lesser educated conservatives may not know this, but the father of socialism was not Karl Marx, it was Jesus. It was Jesus who kicked the money-changers out of the temple, and it was Jesus who believed in healing people without first charging them a co-pay. True Christians would follow the teachings of Christ and support President Obama's efforts to give all Americans quality health care, much in the same way that Jesus would want.
Oaktown, Jesus the father of socialism? You're an idiot. Jesus may not have charged a co-pay for healing, but he certainly didn't go to everyone in the village and tell them he needed money from each and every one of them to cover the cost. If you think Obama's going to give you quality healthcare then you're dumber than your post. Since you want to talk about what Jesus wants... Jesus wants you to quit carrying signs for ACORN and go get a job so you can save up and buy a clue.
We have quality healthcare already. The problem is the insurance companies, not the practitioners. There are good and bad doctors everywhere. You say Jesus wouldn't go to everyone in a village, but that's basically what insurance companies are doing now. If you don't get sick, you still pay into a system that redistributes your money to the ill who need care. That is called corporate socialism. When the cost becomes economically unviable, they simply refuse care. That is called capitalism.
babescalhoun, I agree about the quality healthcare that we have. As far as the Jesus analogy, that was only in response to some moron claiming He was a socialist for healing for free. The difference between blue cross and socialized medicine is blue cross you have the choice to purchase/ pay for a service, with socialized you have no choice as you're taxed for the service. Paying whether you use it or not, that's what insurance is, be it health, home, car, boat, whatever. That's how it works.
Medicare is accepted as a great program (much better than Blue Cross), even Republicans love and support it. This is because many of their constituents are elders using Medicare who also love it. Medicare is socialized, and whether or not you ever use Medicare you do pay for it as long as you get a paycheck. It is an entitlement program, you are entitled to use it because the money you paid each weak into Social Security is used to finance it. Taxes we pay every week pay for others benefits.
The concept is a good one... But prove to me that it is a viable, unbankrupted, and successful program! You can't! If you do your proper research, you'd find out that Medicare along with Medicad will soon be out of money.
I brought up that Medicare pays 80% and that it's in financial ruin. You wasted both of our time by paraphrasing your first comment and not addressing the issues I mentioned. As an expert on Medicare, I'm sure you're aware that for seniors to have full coverage they have to purchase a medicare supplemental insurance from the private sector. Compounded with financial troubles, it is not great, it's flawed. The whole system needs reform, but not what they're proposing.
80% of what?? if they only picked up 80% of hospital stays senior citizens would all die broke. That's just not true, and supplemental coverage is just not necessary for most. You are really reaching with supplemental insurance. Do you realize what that covers!?
As far as Cash For Clunkers, they allocated 1 billion and it was extended. Just because it was unexpectedly popular does not deem it a failure. They didn't have to extend it, so it wasn't ever a liability or "cost".
Not everyone on Medicare is considered government program and face services in which medicare only pays 80%. Newsflash, most physicians/ hospitals charge more than medicare will pay. This is where supplemental comes in, so no it's not a stretch. My fault for not saying "most seniors".
Never said cash 4 clunkers was a failure. What I said was if they thought $1 billion would last 4 months on this program, how the hell can we trust their estimated figure of what UHC will cost?
OaktownUSA, thats absurd. Are you that vacuous? Look Jesus wasn't against the "money-changers." What he was against was conducting business inside the temple itself because it is God's House. Seriously, is that your support for a socialist Jesus? Jesus healed the sick, helped the crippled, saved the poor all so that we can find salvation and have an everlasting love for God. Our debt to God isn't Earthly... its divine we owe Jesus our love and that is our co-pay.
dems thank this a right wing organized response to there agenda but its not presdient O made a comment during his campain that america was mad and he was right we were being lied to then and were being lied to now. tell us the truth!!!!!!!
I think its more like "hurry up, pass it fast before the people understand what we are doing." if thats the case..well I think its safe to say that it is wayyy to late for that!
Obama's ultimate goal is simple - SOCIALISM... Once a country is 45% government controlled it is considered to be a socialist nation. Obama wants this passed because we will then reach that magic number of 45%. Once people get used to government handouts {taxpayer funded} they will be very reluctant to give it up...he knows that and that is why he is trying to rush this through! Americe, wake up before it's too late!
Can you believe the body language on these two...especially Sebelius?? What elite A-holes! They KNOW we HATE this Healthcare 'reform' (socialized medicine), yet, they SHOVE it down OUR throats!! I know their healthcare will be different than the one they propose for us! This is a ROUGE Gov. here, people!
she just needs her pussy licked. she is upiddy and it is a proven fact that will relax upiddy women. Notice how sarah palin is not upiddy. Ill bet she has no problem in that department
Because they are paid to sponsor certain policies and paid to vote certain ways by coporate America and special interests. They do not vote to represent the people that put them in office.
Yeah, it blows my mind that she is standing there with a smile on her face.. BTW- Chris Dodd is having a close door meeting this week with small business owners.. No regular taxpayers allowed in the meeting.. Go figure...
Take your socilaist healthcare and shove it. Demotards-they will do anything for a vote. Sorry, people have realized that the joke of a stimulus pkg has been a complete failure and the socialists are now unable to rush through this crap that we don't want.
VOTE every damn Representatives and Senator out that voted "yea" on the Tax & Bill and anyone who supports any of these SOCIALIST health care bills. You want to know how well government health care works. Go to any Indian Hospital on any day or or any reservation and you will see how "FUBARed" these bureaucrats have treated the first Americans. You think they give a damn about you? FREEDOM NOW! NO MORE LAWS TO ENSLAVE AMERICANS. Buy some used pianos people, we will need the wire.
The PEOPLE' are pissed, and outraged over this!! When will this new administration GET it?? WE DO NOT WANT SOCIALISM OF ANY KIND!!! We are Americans and we want FREEDOM, as we have ALWAYS had!!!
This needs to happen everywhere. Find out right now if there is a town hall scheduled in your area, attend it, and demand answers. These people need to start representing our wishes and obeying their oath. Legislation like this should never be considered in this country. We need to start being honest with ourselves and realizing that once the politicians got between us and our doctors, healthcare has been changed for the worst. It all started with Nixon.

We must have a single payer health care system only. We can't afford anything else. US spend on health care 15.4% of GDP (that is a low figure) including both state and private. As a whole Europe spends 9.6% of GDP on universal health care. The Republicans and or the O'bama plan, is just more of the same fraud. Plenty of profit for the greedy pharmaceuticals and the health care companies. We should emulate the Veterans Administration. Our own national, 1 payer system that works.
"We should emulate the Veterans Administration. Our own national, 1 payer system that works."
Are you on crack? The VA system is just as broken as Medicare and Medicaid. You want to see the US version of universal healthcare, go check out a Native American Reservation. No group of people have been more taken care of by the US government and no other group is in worse shape.
Wow, finally regular folks get to ask questions. Power to the People.
Politicians, Is it too much to ask to read the Bill and understand it? That is your job, isn't it? Why the rush job when it doesn't take effect for four more years? Us regular folks know the answer... You can't pass it when we know the full details about it.
There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER these "bills" have to be thousands or even hundreds of pages. CUT OUT THE CRAP. When you cut the pork, you'll probably end up with a proper 20-page bill. Gee I guess everybody could probably read the entirety of the bill and completely comprehend it without having to employ lawyers, saving money all around and resulting in a clean, honest vote and a bill that will be good for we the people. Why don't we try that for a "change?"
All these 1000+ page bills resemble a fishermans cast net being used to reel in control and power in the name of reform while taking away American freedoms.

Do you object to drs having standards of care?
Why shouldn't my benefits correspond with them.

SUBTITLE B-SECTION 111 - PROHIBITING Pre-existing Condition Exclusions.

Here are the "less freedoms"
Things you CAN't do:
1. You can't scream "nazi commie socialist!" without falling on the floor laughing your ass off;

Consumer protection my ass.
brotherturtle 2 years ago
You obviously haven't read the bill if you are going to claim there are no consumer protections, that's a large part of it.
jbugko 2 years ago
I work and pay for my insurance, but if I have to retire early due to illness, the insurance company is liable to cut me off after a certain period, that is if I can even afford by then to pay for whatever astronomical price increase they decide to impose by that time. And I had a claim blithely denied for surgery which I appealed, fortunately I won the appeal. Think of all the people who weren't able to appeal.
jbugko 2 years ago
Actually, you will pay more without this bill because the insurance industry can raise your rates next year if they want. And their benefits don't even have to correspond with what your doctor prescribes for your care; so if you need treatment that the insurance company denies you, you pay out of pocket. And the emergency rm visits just keep growing. You really don't know what you're talking about.
jbugko 2 years ago
Jbugko, it is nice to get into a discussion with someone who is informed. One point that you bring up over and over again is the raising cost of ER visits. This is a big one. Why are ER visits so expensive? A number of reasons but one of the big ones is this: Socialized medical programs. Medicare and Medicaid don't actually pay the whole bill. In cases of stitches or broken bones Medicare/aid is great, but for sniffles (how many people go to the ER for a cold) it only covers 30%........
brotherturtle 2 years ago
.......cont.. in cases of extreme trauma (car accidents and the like),psychiatric, or detox visits Medicare/cade covers even less. The patient is not billed and the Government does not foot the whole bill, so the hospital has to eat the dept. The hospital then turns the dept back onto base costs. People with good insurance and do pay their bills end up absorbing the cost. This makes the insurance company overpay so to cut cost they cut benefits. Fallow the problem to the source.
brotherturtle 2 years ago
As for you your stats about the salaries of certain top level insurance jerks. Your absolutely right, but I would say that your arguments apply to all kinds of top level execs. Pharmaceuticals, Tobacco, auto, metal production, insurance, politics, union leaders, retail box store execs....on and on and on. many many top level execs are paid way too much.
brotherturtle 2 years ago
If you want to see how well soc. health care would work simply look at the countries that currently use socialized medicine. Waiting lists, denial of services (why operate on a tumor in a 75 year old? She's just going to die soon anyways.- England) Euthanasia of children born with expensive congenital defects (conjoined twins, cerebral palsy (spelling?)China) hours long waiting lines for urgent care (ER's in Germany, England and Italy) and application of Triage policy for all med procedures.
brotherturtle 2 years ago
So why are they opposed to a bill that provides consumer protections to you who are purchasers of private health care? ]
Because Ed Hanway, the CEO of Cigna, made $12.2 million dollars last year (that's $5,583 per hour) off denying claims, stopping chemotherapy procedures, & hiking premium costs. If you vote for health care reform, he won't be able to give himself a raise.
& since Cigna also gives Fox News millions, you'll make Glenn Beck cry.

@ jbugko
Because we trust the government less than we trust the private insurance companies.
And for good reason, we could choose a different insurance company if we don't like the service there, but if the government passes this bill, you will have no choice in the matter. They will essentially have a monopoly, and we won't even be able to sue them.
Think of it like this, the goverment would be like a player and a referee in the health care market. No way current companies can compete.

The congress (democratically controlled from 1966-1996 used Social Security Trust funds to help fund the Federal Budget! This is why Medicare, Medicaid, and SS are 75 trillion in the hole!!!

Trollmaster21 2 years ago 3
Troll,
Government works fine at what it should be doing: protecting us, and delivering our mail.
The debate is over government attempting to run industry, and its only a valid arguement so long as its true.
Goto98 2 years ago
Like I said, the role of government is a huge separate debate in itself.
As for GM (I know we won't agree), I do see it as Bush passing the buck on this problem and Obama's actions will keep a bad problem from getting worse. And I do want to see the government get out of the car business as soon as possible. I am aware of the problem of a temporary take over becoming permament and am not for this.
GM screwed up by taking the EV1 electric car off the market. Obama should bring this back
Trollmaster21 2 years ago
GM and other Detroit companies screwed over the nation by buying up all of the street cars across the country and replacing them with buses.
Look up the "Great American streetcar scandal"
'The scandal's consequences were the rise of a permanent car culture in the United States and the lack of any cohesive intercity mass transit network.'
And boy are we suffering for it now. Suburban sprawl and environmental pollution.

Lets stick to the topic, Universal Health Care in the form of HR 3200.

Trollmaster21 2 years ago 2
What they did to education? You mean get severely underfunded by conservatives?
I always find it funny when conservatives cite their own incompetence as examples of "government not working"
concordat 2 years ago
Let's see... what's common to these three things.. education, homes (until recently), and cars? Gov't made it easy to get credit for those things, and it's impossible to afford without a loan. Back when our markets were freer in the 50s, a person would save to buy a car, and it wouldn't take much... they were dirt cheap. Now it takes 5 years to pay off a loan.
Health costs are going to go up astronomically if this plan succeeds, and the poor will surely suffer. Why don't you care about them?
mashed107 2 years ago

OaktownUSA 2 years ago
Oaktown, Jesus the father of socialism? You're an idiot. Jesus may not have charged a co-pay for healing, but he certainly didn't go to everyone in the village and tell them he needed money from each and every one of them to cover the cost. If you think Obama's going to give you quality healthcare then you're dumber than your post. Since you want to talk about what Jesus wants... Jesus wants you to quit carrying signs for ACORN and go get a job so you can save up and buy a clue.
pb2251 2 years ago
We have quality healthcare already. The problem is the insurance companies, not the practitioners. There are good and bad doctors everywhere. You say Jesus wouldn't go to everyone in a village, but that's basically what insurance companies are doing now. If you don't get sick, you still pay into a system that redistributes your money to the ill who need care. That is called corporate socialism. When the cost becomes economically unviable, they simply refuse care. That is called capitalism.
babescalhoun 2 years ago
babescalhoun, I agree about the quality healthcare that we have. That's how it works.
pb2251 2 years ago
Medicare is accepted as a great program (much better than Blue Cross), even Republicans love and support it. This is because many of their constituents are elders using Medicare who also love it. Medicare is socialized, and whether or not you ever use Medicare you do pay for it as long as you get a paycheck. It is an entitlement program, you are entitled to use it because the money you paid each weak into Social Security is used to finance it. Taxes we pay every week pay for others benefits.
babescalhoun 2 years ago
Accepted as a great program? By whom? Last time I checked the program is going bankrupt because it is designed like a ponzi scheme.
damagefactor 2 years ago
The concept is a good one... But prove to me that it is a viable, unbankrupted, and successful program! You can't! If you do your proper research, you'd find out that Medicare along with Medicad will soon be out of money.
platinumcar 2 years ago
I brought up that Medicare pays 80% and that it's in financial ruin. You wasted both of our time by paraphrasing your first comment and not addressing the issues I mentioned. As an expert on Medicare, I'm sure you're aware that for seniors to have full coverage they have to purchase a medicare supplemental insurance from the private sector. Compounded with financial troubles, it is not great, it's flawed. The whole system needs reform, but not what they're proposing.
pb2251 2 years ago 2
80% of what?? if they only picked up 80% of hospital stays senior citizens would all die broke. That's just not true, and supplemental coverage is just not necessary for most. You are really reaching with supplemental insurance. Do you realize what that covers!?
As far as Cash For Clunkers, they allocated 1 billion and it was extended. Just because it was unexpectedly popular does not deem it a failure. They didn't have to extend it, so it wasn't ever a liability or "cost".
babescalhoun 2 years ago
Not everyone on Medicare is considered government program and face services in which medicare only pays 80%. Newsflash, most physicians/ hospitals charge more than medicare will pay. This is where supplemental comes in, so no it's not a stretch. My fault for not saying "most seniors".
Never said cash 4 clunkers was a failure. What I said was if they thought $1 billion would last 4 months on this program, how the hell can we trust their estimated figure of what UHC will cost?
pb2251 2 years ago
OaktownUSA, thats absurd. Are you that vacuous? Look Jesus wasn't against the "money-changers." What he was against was conducting business inside the temple itself because it is God's House. Seriously, is that your support for a socialist Jesus? Jesus healed the sick, helped the crippled, saved the poor all so that we can find salvation and have an everlasting love for God. Our debt to God isn't Earthly... its divine we owe Jesus our love and that is our co-pay.

This gives too much power to one system and no choices whatsoever. No thank you.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
We must have a single payer health care system only.

Time to vote these clowns out of office.
