He was johnnys long time friend and was in a gang with johnny called the johns (sids name was john also). Sid was never supposed to be a star like he was, and became delusional due to being suddenly thrown into the situation. He tried to be like Rotten and stand out from the band, but let the excessive lifestyle of most rockstars pull him down.

Noone gives a shit if anybody plays themselves, or even sing at all now at days.
I think it's more style to NOT learn how to play the bass all that time, like he did'nt give a shit about the band as long as he got he's fix.
He played more then most people think anyway.
I think Sid was one of those guyes who are just so fucking tearable it's godlike.
Like my father was hard on drugs when I grew up I know terrable, but he's mother was like getting him the fix who killed him.

I think it's a good advert to not take drugs, if anything good was to come of Sid's death. He's dead but Johnny is still around being cool. You don't need to take drugs to be cool. Still, Sid couldn't even play the bass properly and why did he go off with that stupid groupie who got him involved in drugs?
