  • HOLY Fudgecracking donkey ninjas!!! THAT BASS!!!!

  • everytime i listen to this song..i become so angry about 2 people from some weird reason

  • da fuzz buzz!!

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • I would kill to have this version of the song on my i-pod.

  • @TheJmanMaster google "video 2 mp3"

  • They need to perform this song live again.

  • "Aboriginal man get off my cakes, get off my cakes, get off my cakes"

  • @womgoose91 HA!

  • @womgoose91 ROFLMAO OMFG -dies-

  • @womgoose91 "I'm a reasonable man,get off my case,get off my case".

  • @fatnynja I'm sure he knows...

  • @womgoose91 We know how mush aboriginals love those cakes. Cup cakes are stolen in the outback all the time from back porch tables! :)

  • like Samuel Beckett being the experimental marmite of theatre radiohead are the popular music marmite...i happen to love marmite!

  • like Samuel Beckett being the experimental marmite of theatre radiohead are the popular music marmite...i happen to love marmite!

  • I'm a reasonable man, get off my case, get off my case, get off my case.

  • Now I'm not a gay man, but fucking hell! Thom looks hot at 2:02

  • @wurble also at 1:57

  • In my opinion, this doesn't even get close to the studio version.

    Still pretty good, though.

  • @ffsf739

You know all these electronic effects... It was impossible to play ... when Radiohead gave up to play that version. But "Still pretty good, though" :)

  • @ffsf739 If you're looking to hear the studio version of a song live, you don't fucking know radiohead.

  • Waouh!!! Je n'avais jamais entendu cette chanson en live et j'avoue que je suis super impressionnée!!!!! Tout simplement sublime, FANTASTIQUE!!!!!

  • fantasic

  • I love this, but I prefer the simplicity of the album version... Still, it's a brilliant performance.

  • Infinitely better than Amnesiac's version. This has become one of my favorite performances.

  • This version is way better than the album one

  • Incredible, this performance is much better then the album version IMO.

  • often their songs do come to life live :)

  • That is indeed why they call it 'live' :)

  • lol you know what I mean!

  • yes, it was a pun!!! :D

  • Ed's a sadist. after listening to every bit of music he's played, I've come to that conclusion. He generates sounds on the verge of ruining the song, that end up giving it style and earyness. Amazing

  • What distortion is Colin using? It sounds amazing.

  • Lovetone Big Cheese maybe.

  • @Tyger2393

i think he's using a fuzz pedal distortion, i have one for my guitar and it sounds almost equal.

  • radiohead is godhead, but this is such a studio song the vinyl version is way way better

  • Excuse me, but does anybody know what effect Ed may be using for this song? I'm thinking ring modulation, but I"m not sure.

  • I think it's ring through a phaser with a Memory Man or Johnny's early Tape Echo and... A lost of echo.

  • You mean Jonnys part?

  • I have another great live version of this performed at Canal Studios, Paris (which in my opinion is a lot better, though this is still great) but youtube won't let me upload it, despite repeated attempts. fuckers!

  • Is this the acoustic show?

  • Nah, the acoustic show is from le reservoir.

  • let's put on our thinking caps here...

  • oops!

Made a comment on the wrong concert.

I was talking about the show in Paris(?) with Thom and Jonny.

  • After listening to nothing but Radiohead for almost a year, I finally wore it out. But now, I can come back to this song and say I enjoy it as much as ever, especially this version. Also, Kyle, I have no idea what you mean, the entire band is extremely talented, and Johnny at least has done some first-rate solo work.

  • i much prefer the album version with the rhodes piano but still good

  • yeah this is rock version of electronica song

  • hands down best performance of this song =D

  • i agree proff they are way way better live !

  • i think the album version fits better with amnesiac. this sort of sounds like a b-side track to the 'National Anthem', although not saying it is still a brilliant version of the 'sardines' song

  • I prefer this to the album track. Much better.

  • This is excellent live

  • I agree. It's a pity they haven't played it in almost a decade.

  • me too, new sound to it

  • memento jools holland

  • they should release!

  • you can't say this about all their old songs even ones they still play live but this song has an In Rainbows sort of rhythm and would have fit great with their new songs with a few adjustments to the arrangement. Hope they still try it out live again in the Latin America tour

  • this sounds so amazing

  • i love that bass sound

  • What a great version - fantastic sound.

The only really original band thats out there!

  • cough... elbow??

  • IMHO.... good that elbow are there's no comparison

  • elbow are extremely original - theyre just not as effective as Radiohead; elbow - even after the mercury, have not yet been culturally accepted

  • elbow are good... but nowhere near the scope of radiohead

  • radiohead are just fucked up - theyre my favourite band; by a long way

all im saying is that elbow are totally original too.

  • LMAO. Not being accepted does not = originality...

  • i know, but I think some bands arent accepted because of their originality.

The ignorant public want something thats exactly the same as ever before, something simple, easy to "move" to, short, un-technical, and well shite.

  • hear hear...

I can't play a gig without having to cover bittersweet symphony or wonderwall :o

  • @12345l6789 Explain any musical revolution in history, with that mindset.

Popular music has a revolution ever 15-25 years (Jazz, Swing, bee bop, rock n roll, psychedelic rock, funk, hip hop, jam band, etc)... GREAT music is produced at the beginning of the new era, and the popularity goes to some of the greatest bands of all time. However, over time the artists become complacent and try to copy the other bands. The fans dont WANT the new stuff, they are just bored and that is all they have

  • @12345l6789 give it about 10 more years, and popular music will be incredible again

  • @12345l6789 You know... that doesn't make them ignorant. It makes them people who aren't all that interested in music.

  • IDK but Mars Volta is pretty original too.^^and lets not forget about TeamSleep and/or Mogwai!

  • yes, they make the most lovable music sound I've ever heard. About "The only really original band".. you still have a lot to listen (or think about).

  • they are not exactly original. But they do come up with original stuff to play but the way they do it is as far from original as it can possibly be.

  • There are INFINITE original bands/DJs/artists/etc. out there. It's just a matter of exploring far beyond what you see or listen in the media. However, among all original bands out there... radiohead kicks real serious ass :)

Also, I have to say that Radiohead isn't just about being different or not. I think their intention lies in the overwhelming depth of their messages, which most of the time (because they're geniuses) comes combined with sounds you and no one could ever hear before.

  • Therefore...to that comment of "as far from original as it can possibly be"... => lost in wrongness.

I don't know what you mean, we all know they didn't invent guitar and drums, but regardless of chosing popular elements to produce their music, their product is the most original piece of art there can be.

So, wasn't Van Gogh an original painter because he used paint, brushes and canvas, "just like everyone else"?

  • I think Thom Yorke is the real genious, I think that the rest just imply their feelings on what Thom Yorke is trying to say in a chameleon like manner

  • I would like to be Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box with radiohead :D

  • 1:12 "yeah" he is the man

  • Ha, I didn't notice that til you pointed it out. What a guy.

  • OMFG! that was amazing. easily one of the best live radiohead songs ive ever seen. time too watch it again.

  • big phil should of mixed up more on the bam bams!

  • OMG this is awesome, haven't seen it for ages. It's so different from the album version, that guitar, that crazy synth electro twinkle in the background, and the fucking fuzz bass!!! Radiohead should cut lose like this more often.

  • Totally agree. What a bass line. I always thought the album version was shit, but this is unreal!

  • I love what Jonny's doing with that modular synth or whatever he's playing with

  • roland space echo. if you're a guitar player the line 6 dl4 has a "pretty good" model of it. Roland has also re-issued it through a boss stomp pedal. sorry, Im kind of a dork like that.

  • lol... nice!

  • not a big fan of this song on the record, but this is just awesome right here

  • Thom Yorke playing the tambourine is sex personified.

  • wow!!!! iv never seen this song preformed live befor! they fricked aced it! that was awsome! i even think i prefur this version! tho the studio versions also awsome but damn!

  • Thom Yorke is just so fuckin cool

  • this is so amazing live holy sh*t...i cant wait to see them in charlotte ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    they are god

  • They are god, your right, im seein them first concert of the in rainbows tour! BEST THING EVER!!

  • yeah i love how he's just in his own little grove

  • This is way better than the album version, the effects are funkier and its generally got a more lively feeling to it :D

  • why cant there be more great bands like this today.Fantastic without doubt my favourite opener of an album song by them.just hope when the tour starts in the summer they add it to there set again cause its a really dark and mysterious song which feels uplifting and paranoid at the same time

  • strongly agree but they have problems with this live...ive seen them 6 times and they only played this twice!i expect some surprises this year though.

  • My favourite Radiohead song.

This is a sick version of it too, Thom's really feeling it which is sick, because from the album version you can't tell. That's the style of the song - but it's still nice to see the emotion on this

  • this is fucking brilliant, listen to that bass

  • Don't judge Radiohead by this video. It's a really fun performance but it's not their real good stuff. It's impossible for Radiohead to suck, they are too godly for that. They ARE gods. And Phil Selway kicks ass.

  • radiohead consists of humans

  • "Don't judge Radiohead by this video"

i dont think this performance is THAT bad.

I realy like this song(Live and LP)

    and amnesic is really awesome!

radiohead = the new pink floyd.

  • "Don't judge Radiohead by this video"

but why? I think this performance is incredible. to be fair colins bass sounds a little off putting at first (esp if you're familiar with the canal version). but when it gets going it sounds absolutely sublime and hypnotic. thom is sooo fucking into it too, which is always a joy to see.

  • Don't judge them...why? Because it's not a carbon copy of the CD? I'd rather use this as an example of how versatile they are, this is a wicked version!

  • incredibly sloppy set this is compared to their usual ninja precision! seems like more of a Jam, like the band dynamic had sort of shifted... good though of course!

  • "Real beat."

What are you talking about, stupid ?

  • I assume he means the tin-can-like beat from the studio version. It would be quite difficult to replicate it live.

  • i like the studio version

  • great song!

    sexy performers !

  • Like I might Be Wrong, this track sounds better live. Methinks.

  • If you think Greenday is in the same league as Radiohaed you should have your f'ing head examined, not the same league, not the same ballpark, not the same F'ing sport

  • the distortion on the bass is from a leftover gadget from exit music.

  • How do you know that, Mr. Greenwood?

  • Green day is nowhere near Radiohead in quality and style.

  • Learn how to read, man.

  • I know that's what you meant too. I showed I agreed.

  • That's not a fact, it's your opinion.

There is NO rock band better than Radiohead (sorry Green Day fans).

  • Sorry Greenday fans??

What.. are you saying that Greenday are up there with radiohead?? =o

  • The distortion is cool I guess. I like this version though, so yeah...

  • This is so different from the album...

Quick poll, how many people like the excessive distortion on this song?

  • LOVE the distortion that Colin plays with.

  • As a musician, I don't think I'm supposed to have a favorite musical artist, but i just can't find anyone who can top radiohead. They're fucking godly.

  • congrats now everyone knows your a musician i hope your happy you pompus jerk

  • it's (I hope "YOU'RE" happy........)

  • dot space dot space dot space is the proper way of using an ellipse. Gee how trivial

  • They really need to play that one more often

  • I completely agree, so much more energy than the album version. and thom really looks like he enjoys performing it. if you haven't seen the canal version you should defo check it out.

  • Radiohead will probably never be topped live. This is a fact all of the Fall Out' loners and misfits will have to come to grips with. Live in reality.!!!!

  • 5 stars??? It's a shame i cant give more... That means i have to give 4 stars or less to every videos without Radiohead...

  • lovely :)

  • this song is amazing.. the first 5-8 times i didn't think much of it and was disappointed by it as a "radiohead opener" but now i love it!!

  • radiohead 4 life :D.

  • i love this live.

  • mmhmm

  • 5 stars? yes, 5 stars.

  • 5 stars

  • 5 stars.

  • J. Greenwood might go on to put out more ambitious solo albums than T. Yorke. I say that because his synth work just sounds that great. It's reflective of Trent Reznor of NIN and, even more complimentarily, Richard D. James.

Truly, not many compare to Richard D. James when it comes to musical machines. If you don't believe me then listen to Aphex Twin's DRUKQS, Come to Daddy, I Care Because You Do, 26 Mixes for Cash, or the "Richard D. James" Album.

  • jonny greenwood once said in an interview that if Radiohead ever broke up he would stop playing music because he couldn't see himself doing anything other than Radiohead...he said he had difficulty doing his solo album Bodysong

  • This sounds awesome live.

    The bass is hypnotic.

    The guitars are awesome.

    The electronics are beast.

    But most importantly,

    the tambourine can't be stopped.

I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.

This video has been ok'd by the Church of Thom.

  • I like the canal version much better... then again I absolutely love it. but this still very cool, seems a little more mellow. I lot of people slag thom off for dancing like he's having some sort of seizure. but he defo got a great little groove going on here. I'd go gay for him at 2:02

  • better than the Canal+ version

  • Agreed

  • Nice! I've never heard this song live, I like this version a lot!
