Too many voices! The track sounds too 'full' to be an actual 8-bit tune, more like a track played on a 1982 Casiotone (the right way).

The characteristic sound of the era came from composers who had to work "with the chip" to get a full harmonic sound, that's why you often get arpeggiated backgrounds in the tracks. Chords were simply not possible, and on a 4-voice chip each voice was used to the full (1 for lead, 1 for drum, 1 for bass, 1 for chords/arps). For special FX you had to be creative!
