I didnt ... It wasnt all that , honestly , comparing this to Amy Winehouse version was a joke , she was just singing , nothing special .. anybody can do that! , I was just expecting something more, not something boriiiinnnggg! Amy's version had soul!
@sukimaru1 Amy's version had a well excuted ending, but it was like she was trying to phrase like Billie. She sounded awkward. This style is imitated but the musicianship in Jazz singing sets Billie apart from pretenders. What you call soul, some may call pretentious. Billie was true to the song, and her interpretive mastery is evident in this recording. The subtlety with which she conveys the sentiment in the lyrics is as honest and soulful as it gets. Blues with a refined and elegant delivery

Whichever musics Billie Holiday sings, no one can top her.
And that is simply because there will never be a Jazz voice as hurt as hers...

Those are some early pictures, likely when she was still a teenager, drinking a Coke.

@TumbaBeats Chrisette is wonderful but compare her to Billie Holiday I think is such a huge step u takin hehe
fede4real 1 year ago
@TumbaBeats No offense, but Billie is in a category all by herself. She can't be compared, not even comes close, to Chrisete Michelle. Sorry darling.
