  • I picked one of these up (a true closet queen ignored since 1971) for a mere $75. Looks like the day it was brought home when new. Sounds killer! Little amps on 10 man, that's the ticket! It's especially sweet with a Bluesbreaker pedal (homemade of course) in front of it. Spank me! LOL

  • holy shit, this sounds awesome. Exactly the sound I'm after. Is it the amp or guitar thats producing this amazing tone/bite?

I got an agile al 2000 goldtop w/ p-90's (LP copy). Will it sound similar through this amp?

Great playing btw. And how is it for bass?

  • id like to get ahold of 1deze, mite just hafta.. ok time to play some guitar...ROCK ON!!!

  • Actually the circuit is not anything like a champ. This amp isn't really like any other Fender amp. I have three of these. I lLOVE em and also like to mod em. The one in this video is 2 6v6 tubes. The Weber 12f150 is best for a Fendery clean to semi clean but will not sound as good and full as a Celestion V30 or H30 if you plan to play it on 10 a lot. I've tried all these speakers. The V30 works really well all around. I like this guys videos for this amp.

  • Gibson used the same tubes in their low wattage amps, nothing too weird.

  • This is me playing my musicmaster bass amp through phaser, reverb, and overdrive courtesy of the Korg AXG1. The solo at the end is allright. hehe h he

  • Mine sounds great with a Greenback. Just ask the neighbors. :D

  • Ya know, these PTP wired amps are easy to mess with, you can take the tone knob out of the circuit if you dislike it, although you should do it in a way that can be undone for posterity's sake. BTW, a 6aq5 is actually like a 6v6 in an el84-sized bottle. They really sound nice, but I wouldn't build an amp using them unless I wanted to put in a strong eq, because it does make the amp very midrange-heavey. If the spkr isn't original, try a swamp thang. If a swamp thang can tame my Classic 30,,,,,

  • Please, can you test this amp with a bass and do a new video? i want to buy one for my gibson sg bass, but it seems that everybody use this amp for guitar :S

  • You can do a tone control mod on these for about $2.00 in caps. It's called the "Tweed Harvard" mod and consists of a few changes that make a farty little bass amp into a screaming grind machine for both guitar and harp. BTW, the 6AQ5 version is weaker but can be converted to 6V6s easily, as the two tube types spec (but don't sound) the same.

  • @pyrpylkyrtynz Good for harp you say? Please tell us more.

  • cool vid. i got a weber g12h-30 with the 55 hertz cone in mine. it sounds like early zepplin recordings where he was using some little combo. black dog, etc. i've found the tone knob to be very helpful, actually... you can use it to trim bass between 8 and 10, and boost mids between 6 and 8. below 6 it just trims hghs. it sounds good as hell.

  • Ive been looking at both the Weber 12f150 and the Signature 12 for replacement in this amp. I bought the amp with an after market Eminence in it (must be an early model, as there is no real label on it). Glad you like the video, if i can find another MMB for the price i paid for this one ill be buying it.

  • This guy thinks he's so cool spilling beer on his computer and calling a Les Paul a peace of shit ... how about sell it and give me the money for that peace of shit

  • @macinfloydvolk I believe he was joking about the POS thing, man. Relax.

  • love mine i dont know my tone knob works great put her at 7 and she screams. my is the model without the switch for power just turn the volume. love the amp

  • In '73, i would laugh at this amp. Now I want one. I don't ever think it was ever that sucessful as a student Bass amp but with a Guitar-...it does sound cool...!

  • You are correct about the tone control (pretty worthless). However it does max out the mids and volume inbetween 5&7 on mine. The factory speaker was way too weak and breaks up real early (about 3-4). I just put a Jensen C12K in, and it totally rocks. It doesnt sound like a small boxy amp anymore. And it holds clean untill about 7-8. Stomp on a Tube Screamer & hang on. My new favorite amp.

  • Great video.

I was looking at one of these online and this was very helpful.

    Cheers!

  • Wow dude,

Blow up the amp, and spill beer on the computer? Sounds like quite an evening. LOL

  • agreed. I love how you find 'pieces of shit laying around.' ;)

  • nice dude

cant wait to see the overdrive test =)
