Wow thats a great idea. Since of course bullies always wait for kids to turn their backs, and then shoot them directly in the backpack and not the head or any other extremities. The real solution is allowing (hah, allowing)teachers and other school personnel the ability to carry a concealed weapon.

I'm no genius but kids could take the pack off and hold it up in front of them while tucking into a corner or something, or even if they have to run away, as you say,238 square inches of body armor on their back would be better than none.
