Basically the same show they've been doing since 1967, the year I first saw them as a member of the world famous Marching Southerners of Jacksonville State University. BLOW SOUTHERNERS!!
maybe if they weren't so concerned with playing so loud they'd be able to march in step and make straight lines. the sound is unbelievable but the marching just appears chaotic to me. not trying to bash you guys, i'm a marching chief and have mad respect for y'all.
@fsuguy92 Keep in mind this was the beginning of the school year, October, sometimes it takes the whole year for them to get the moves down pat. Sometimes the moves are just not well coordinated to begin with and the show never gets that polished look. Considering the size of the band they did fairly well overall.
@fsuguy92 Honestly, we aren't concerned about playing loud, it just happens naturally, hence the name "The Sound of the South". I agree our marching isn't the best, but it has improved over the years. We've started focusing on marching techniques and basics a lot more during camp and throughout the semester. Next year should be even better than last year! That's what's so great about the Sound, we improve every year! Good luck to the Marching Chiefs next year!
@XylussN Thanks! This was the first time I had used the HD option to record, and I'm hoping I'll do a better job next contest. (I'll have a better tripod) I really appreciate the comments...
