I cried when I heard Isabelle play this in concert. She is so amazing, and such a sweet person. - - I have yet to hear a harpist play this song half as good as her. I love how she doesn't follow normal 'harp rules' - always see her in high heels - yet she outshines everyone. Also love her intensity, especially in this piece.
This is my favorite rendition of this song.. the Hard truly made this a magical experience... thank you Isabelle Moretti for the honor to hear you play it so well...
Hearing such excellent harp performances as this, I really wonder why Debussy did not write this piece for harp in the first place. The romantic and dreamy character of harp suits Clair de Lune so well, and probably his Arabesque, too.
you went a bit too fast with those arpeggios... It sounds a bit abrupt and doesn't fit into the general mood of the piece which is more contemplative, at least, in my interpretation. But apart from this, I love it anyway.
@supawatc i can see what you mean, but those arpeggios sounds so....watery, whether slow or fast...when water flows, you can't control it's speed. i think either a slower or quicker take on them sounds natural.
the part at 2:29 is my absolute favorite!!! I think that this piece was practically written for Isabelle!! This is incredible! I will never listen to it be played by a pianist again.
This is a great, really great performance by a master harpist! Moretti is outstanding in conveying, Debussy's Clair de Lune essence with a beautifully divine passion.
Sometimes I get so depressed when I think of the horrors that man can inflict on others, such as 9-11. But when I see and hear this composition performed on such a magnificent instrument by a master in complete control of her craft, I am brought back to the reality that we are also capable of sublimely beautiful actions that go beyond words.
such a lovely performance!

Yolanda Kondonassis plays an excellent version of this piece on her CD "Sky Music," for anyone looking for a hi-fi recording of it.

She's going a little too fast. You're supposed to go fast then slow down then fast etc.
