Absolutely true, my friend. And you're right about, at least, the wedding being the true series finale. According to what I read, that was gonna be the beginning of the following season. But the rest is history. :(

Myra kept trying to get Steve even after the engagement (she tried to stow away in the rocket Steve was in in the first half of the series finale), and Stefan just disappeared. I'd like to think Stefan moved back to Paris for good and eventually married Nicole from the Paris Vacation episodes.
@rpmangin Yeah you would think so but I read in the wiki that Myra & Stephan made up a plot to separate Laura & Steve then Harriet scolded them. And then they ended up together.

I'll bet if they did try dating, Myra would get in trouble for trying to change Stefan back into the Urkel clone using a "Steve DNA" tablet she kept and would get thrown in jail after being called out by Stefan.

I like that Steve packed his bags and was going to Russia before Laura could decided. Laura was dating BOTH guys for sometime before they proposed to her. I like the line, "what are you trying say?" It shows that he had enough of her games and indecisions.
@twilightcrazyed Eddie Winslow was and has always been Darius McCrary. I don't know what made you think he was ever replaced. And the mother wasn't replaced per say because the first actress quit. Unlike Jaimee Lee Foxworth who was removed for contract negotiating reasons.

As much as people credit the "Steve-centric" storylines with the show's downfall, I think that the replacement of the original Harriet did it for me. I was (and still am), a big fan of the show, and I watched it until the end, but the new Harriet was HORRIBLE. She didn't have the same attitude or presence as JoMarie Payton, and she wasn't nearly as good as an actress. She always seemed so whiny and ditzy.
Interesting, this is arguably one of the single most ironic moments in the show's history. For years everyone, especially Laura has wanted Steve gone for good, and now that it could have happened, she does the exact thing she said she would never do in all the years she's known him.

None of today's black shows can ever duplicate this! Family Matters was a Classic of the Young Mature Black Generation of America...Everyone on that show played good roles and if this came on today It would have off the chart ratings!
@usf2008 I've also heard that even if Michelle (Myra) did not get sick, her role in Family Matters would have been reduced anyway so she could get more into soap operas. Still, that shouldn't have affected the original storyline, and considering how they butchered Myra's character in the last season, they simply could have killed her off, then have Steve and Laura later get together after that.
@rpmangin continued, or, they could simply write Steve out of the show as he and Myra got an apartment together, because the end of Steve's crush on Laura very much means the end of Steve's importance in Family Matters. He never would have wormed his way into the entire Winslow family if he didn't love Laura so much.
@bfnfamily An alternate ending could have happened if, in the episode where Steve auctions off his kisses for Laura's sorority, instead of Myra giving him the cold shoulder for getting a makeover, she catches Steve and Laura kissing and decides to be the bigger person and give Steve his science club pin back, since she finally understands how much Steve really loves Laura. However, after that, Steve has another "Paradise Bluff" moment and remembers all the good times he and Myra had together.

Interesting, this is arguably one of the single most ironic moments in the show's history. For years everyone, especially Laura has wanted Steve gone for good, and now that it could have happened, she does the exact thing she said she would never do in all the years she's known him.

Jaleel plays a better role than I do! I would've been crying when he saying that he was gonna move after chasing a womam for so long that he loved! I'm going through the same shyt!
None of today's black shows can ever duplicate this! Family Matters was a Classic of the Young Mature Black Generation of America...Everyone on that show played good roles and if this came on today It would have off the chart ratings!

Myra died from cancer hence the reason why she was written out of the show, and it had to take another route.

@usf2008 I've also heard that even if Michelle (Myra) did not get sick, her role in Family Matters would have been reduced anyway so she could get more into soap operas. Still, that shouldn't have affected the original storyline, and considering how they butchered Myra's character in the last season, they simply could have killed her off, then have Steve and Laura later get together after that.

@rpmangin continued, or, they could simply write Steve out of the show as he and Myra got an apartment together, because the end of Steve's crush on Laura very much means the end of Steve's importance in Family Matters. He never would have wormed his way into the entire Winslow family if he didn't love Laura so much.

@bfnfamily An alternate ending could have happened if, in the episode where Steve auctions off his kisses for Laura's sorority, instead of Myra giving him the cold shoulder for getting a makeover, she catches Steve and Laura kissing and decides to be the bigger person and give Steve his science club pin back, since she finally understands how much Steve really loves Laura. However, after that, Steve has another "Paradise Bluff" moment and remembers all the good times he and Myra had together.
